Chapter 9

Natasha's POV

 Nightmares plague me once again now that I'm back on this ship with the Avengers and constantly being monitored by S.H.I.E.L.D. I have nothing against Maria Hill, she's the best agent S.H.I.E.L.D. besides Coulson of course, but she reports everything back to Nick Fury, who is definitely a lot harder to deal with. Bruce has had a few nightmares himself, but thankfully he hasn't Hulked out yet. He sometimes clutches me tightly but eventually loosens his grip on me has the nightmare comes to an end. It breaks my heart when he has nightmares like he does. I deserve it because I've done awful things, but he doesn't. He's the most gentle man there is, even despite him turning into a big green monster when he's angry. 

  Needless to say, neither of us get much sleep and end up waking up an hour before everyone else. We decide to have breakfast together before we face the day. Bruce successfully honed in on Ultron and the Maximoff twins' location, which is an old abandoned warehouse on one of the worst parts of Sokovia. I feel bad for the twins despite them technically being our enemies. Maybe they will come to their sense and join us, before they are forced to against their will. We really don't want it to come to that point, but more often than not, it does.

   As I make Bruce and I breakfast, which is hard boiled eggs, toast, and bacon, I hear strange noises coming from the lab. "Bruce, can you run to the lab? I'm hearing some rather strange noises." His eyebrows furrow in concentration as he's trying to listen to the noises himself and nods. "Yeah, something definitely is going on in the lab." Without another word, he takes off running to the lab to see what's what. The next thing I hear is Bruce screaming Tony's name. That then causes the rest of the Avengers to tiredly stumble out of their rooms, dashing towards the lab as well. I sigh and follow them in pursuit of wanting to find out what exactly is going on in there.

   When we all get there, everyone is in shock. There's a red humanlike android coming out of a chamber. Tony and Bruce share a look because they're the only ones who have a slight idea of what's going on. The red humanlike android looks around at all of us, observing us in full detail. "You all are the Avengers. Hello, Tony, Bruce, Natasha, Thor, Clint, and Steve." I raise an eyebrow at him. "How come you sound like Jarvis?" He looks right at me and shakes his head no. "I'm not Jarvis." Bruce steps forward, also looking at him skeptically. "Are you a creation of Ultron?" He shakes his head no once more. "I'm not a creation of Ultron's either. To be honest with you, I have no clue as to who or what I am."

  Tony smirks at him. "Well whatever you are, I hope you make the wise decision to fight with us rather than against us. Maybe you can even kill Ultron. You seem to be pretty powerful... a vision even." The red humanlike android nods. "Vision, I like that. That's what I'm going to call myself for now on. Anyways, I don't want to kill Ultron. He's unique... and he's in pain. But that pain will roll over the Earth. So he must be destroyed: every form he's built, every trace of his presence on the 'net. We have to act now, and not one of us can do it without the others. Maybe I am a monster. I don't think I'd know if I were one. I'm not what you are and not what you intended. So there may be no way to make you trust me."

  Vision then somehow summons up Thor's hammer and hands it to him. "You call can gawk at me later, but right now, we need to go." The guys stand in a trance for a moment so I snap my fingers in each of their faces, getting them to come back to Earth. Vision gives me a nod in which I return. We all then head out onto our battlefield.

  It doesn't take us long to get to the abandoned warehouse where Ultron is hiding out. When we get there, we split up into two groups. Half of us all face off against the twins if it comes to that point and half of us will face off against Ultron. We'll eventually join each other again afterwards and have a badass battle with Ultron as a group.

  I'm in the group that's going against Ultron first and as I listen to what's going on from behind a wall, I hear two voices, Ultron's and Wanda's. Pietro is clearly off somewhere else. I'm hoping the rest of the gang will find him quickly. He's a sneaky one from what I've heard.

Ultron: [in a crimson cowl] You're wondering why you can't look inside my head.

Wanda Maximoff: Sometimes it's hard. But sooner or later every man shows himself.

Ultron: [stands and removes the cowl] Oh, I'm sure they do. But you needed something more than a man. That's why you let Stark take the scepter.

Wanda Maximoff: I didn't expect... But I saw Stark's fear. I knew it would control him, make him self-destruct.

Ultron: Everyone creates the thing they dread. Men of peace create engines of war, invaders create avengers. People create... smaller people? Uhh... children!

[Chuckles]

Ultron: Lost the word there. Children, designed to supplant them. To help them... end.

  I scowl. How dare they mess with Tony's mind, let alone anyone else's that I don't know about. Besides Bruce and I, Tony has the worst nightmares on the team. We wait a few minutes more and go on, beginning the start of a long and brutal fight. This goes on for a few hours before Sokovia crumbles, Wanda falls to her knees and cries, and Clint comes back with Pietro's limp body in his arms, causing all of our hearts to break. Wanda decided to get revenge for Ultron and finally join the good side. I'm glad we'll be able to give her a second chance to redeem herself. Her powers are incredible, she'll truly be a great asset to the team. Not to mention it'll be nice to have another girl around... there are so many men on the team.

   We all fight Ultron together as a group and successfully defeat him. Vision is holding Wanda, letting her let out of all of her grief as he holds her. They just met each other and you can already tell that they have a special connection. I'm glad they have each other, they'll play off one another when it comes to their growth.

Hoped that you guys liked this chapter! I know the plot in this fanfic is slightly different from the plot of the movie, but I'm known to change things up in my fanfics. That and I can't always remember every exact detail of original movie plots, but I do pretty good overall in doing so. :) -Mary
