Chapter 6

Chapter 6

 Bruce's POV

   The next morning...

Natasha and I wake up at eleven in the morning, late but not too late, to freshen up and get ready to go into town for the day. Both of us are excited to have a normal and proper first date, like most people have the luxury of doing so. We take separate showers because we don't want to provoke the Hulk from coming out at the wrong time. It takes a half an hour to freshen up and leave for the day. We're going to eat a bite to eat and drinks at a local café we've heard a lot of positive reviews for online, which is located right in the heart of town. After that, the rest of our adventure will be random but fun.

It's a little bit of a drive due to how deep in the countryside we are, but when we get into town, we're in awe of the café. It's medium sized, has everything under the sun, and has the Milan vibes I was hoping that it'd have. Bruce and I stand in front of the counter, reading the signs and scanning the aisles for ten minutes before we actually settle on what we want to eat and drink. When we're settled on it, Bruce and I order, though Bruce insists on paying for the both of us. I tell him all the time that I don't want him to spoil me, but he refuses to hear it. I end up caving in because I know it's easier to cave in rather than fight with him over silly little things. Don't worry Bruce, one day I'll be treating the both of us, so no if, ands, or buts about it.

Bruce ends up ordering a turkey and cheese sandwich along with a medium chai latte while I order a bowl of tomato basil soup and a mug of English Breakfast Tea. I've been getting into tea more lately over coffee. Tea is also the healthier of the two and has a better variety of flavors to choose from. We sit down at a nice corner table away from the window because it's a bit drafty and wait for our food and drinks to be ready. When they are, I volunteer to go up and get them. It's the least that I can do since Bruce covered the bill, which was close to twenty dollars.

The drinks and food are so delicious that both of us moan in pleasure throughout our entire meal. "Bruce, I'm treating you next time. Please let me." He smirks and then sighs playfully. "Finnneeee, the great Natasha Romanoff can treat me to our next meal next time, as long as it isn't too expensive. I refuse to allow you to pay for a hundred dollar bill between the two of us, especially if we end up at a fancy restaurant." I nod. "I guess that's fair but thanks for caving in. I appreciate it." He smiles softly at me and nods back.

We sit around for a little while after we finish eating to finish our drinks before going on out on the town. We hit a few shops, get some groceries, get a couple of new affordable outfits to wear, window shop at the more expensive shops, and people watch. People watching is honestly my favorite because it really helps give one a good idea of the kind of people that live around here. It also gives one an idea of how to go about interacting with these people.

Bruce and I sit on a bench after all of the fun yet tiring shopping we've done. Now we're onto people watching, the best part of the date besides food and drinks for sure. We end up people watching for over an hour before deciding to head back home to put groceries away and have a light supper together with wine that is. Both of us don't drink that often, but we're here in Milan, a place where anything can happen. Why not have some wine?

"Bruce, red or white?" He smirks at me. "You know that I'm a red wine guy Nat, just like I know you're a white wine kind of girl." I smirk back. "How cute, you know me so well." The two of us then burst into laughter while taking our first sips of wine along with our first bites of dinner, which is chicken salad with sides of steak fries. What a lovely supper indeed.

We spend the next few hours talking about anything and everything, laughing at the silliest things due to how drunk we're getting. I'm pretty sure both of us have downed three full glasses of wine already. We're drunk enough right now, we certainly don't need anymore wine. We have to work off the effects of the three glasses overnight. I just hope we don't wake up with horrible hangovers in the morning, but knowing our luck, we probably will. I'm so glad the stores in Milan sell most of the same medicines that the US does, especially Advil. Advil is the holy grail for easing hangovers. I'm glad I remembered to buy some earlier. I knew it would come in handy for Bruce and I's slightly excessive drinking tonight. Wish us luck in the morning, we're certainly going to need it.

Spoiler alert: The rest of the night leads to drunk makeout sessions and lovely cuddling that makes my heart soar.
