Chapter 18

Alex

"Come mummy, we need to pack," Nate pulled my arms excitedly towards the stairs.

I stopped my track making him looked at me, "Don't you like staying here?" I asked him. "It's more fun staying here. We have Uncle AJ, Grandpa, Grandma and Nana with us," I tried to persuade him.

He looked at everyone, "I like here but I want to stay with my daddy," he responded.

"Why?" I asked him.

"Because he's my daddy," he replied looked at me as if I'm stupid. "Everyone stays with their daddy and mommy."

"Yeah?" I cast him the same look.

"Yeah," he nodded my head, "All my friends stays with their daddy and mommy."

"He has a point there," said AJ. When I glared at him for interrupting, he just shrugged.

"I agreed with AJ," it was Dad did time. I rolled my eyes at him. "He needs to stay with both his daddy and mommy. He's growing up and he need both of you in his life."

I tried to say something but this time, mom interrupted, "Stop being stubborn and try to be in his shoes this time. In his age, he needs both his mommy and daddy. He needs you both to bring him up."

"He was doing fine before this," I tried to reasons out.

"Are you sure?" asked mom as if she didn't believe me. "He never asked you about his daddy?"

I bite my lips, "He has asked several time," I admitted.

"And you been telling him lies all the while?" it was AJ who asked.

"I just told him that his daddy has to go away," I softly replied.

"And now his daddy with him you still want them to be apart?" AJ asked again.

"If I want to them to be apart, I would never admit Skye his daddy," I scoffed.

"So you tell him about Skye, so that he knows that his daddy really exists?" mom tenderly asked me. I nodded my head.

"Well, then why don't you want to stay with his daddy?" mom asked again.

"I don't see there's any reason for us to stay with him," I said out my point of view, "He can come and see us everyday."

"But that's not how a family should live. To Nate, you all are now a family. From what I see, Nate wants a family and that's why he so happy to know that he actually have one. Doesn't it ever cross you mind that this is what he always wanted? Doesn't it ever cross your mind about how he felt seeing all his other friends doing everything together with their family?" mom looked at me intensely while saying all this. Her words make me think.

"I..... I never really thought about that," I admitted softly.

Mom smiled, "May be now you should start thinking about it before it's too late."

"But don't you think it will like a rush to Skye? He has to change is lifestyle all so sudden?" I tried to reason out.

"Well, he has no choice," said mom.

"That's what I don't want," I sighed, "I don't want to force him into doing something. I don't want to leave him with no choice."

"From what I see, I don't think Skye mind at all. He looks as happy as Nate. He couldn't hide his smile when he heard that you both are going to stay with him tomorrow," dad suddenly said after being in silent listening to our conversation.

"Skye is very happy, that's for sure," smiled AJ. "You don't have to worry about his feeling as if he's being force into do something. I told you a million times that Skye didn't felt that way. It's just you being stubborn."

"I'm not being stubborn," I tried to deny.

"You are stubborn!" AJ, mom and dad said in unison. I rolled my eyes at them.

"Stop being stubborn for once," said dad, "Just go and stay with Skye. Think about your son happiness."

"I always thing of my son's happiness," I scoffed.

"Well, you not doing your best!!" he scoffed back at me. I rolled my eyes at him, "Stop rolling your eyes. You really are stubborn." I pouted my lips but remained quiet. Mom and AJ chuckled.

"Mommy," whined Nate who has been quiet all the while, "When are we going pack? It's already late."

Mom puts her arms on my shoulder, "Just go and pack your things. Look at your son. See how eager he is to be with his daddy. For once, listen to him."

I sighed. There's no point arguing about it anymore, they will not listen, "Alright, I'll go and I'm doing it for Nata's SAKE," I stressed the words "sake" just to irritate my dad. He rolled his eyes at me and then chuckled.

"Come Nate, let's go packing," I said as I climbed up the stairs.

"Yay, we're going to daddy's place," he screamed happily as he followed behind me.

Skye

I was feeling very happy after leaving Alex's house. Nate and Alex are going to stay with me but my feeling subsides when I started to think about Alex. From the way she talked to me just now at the door before I left, it seems like she's not really agreeable about living together with me. She said she wanted to discuss about it and I'm sure she'll try to tell me it not going to happen. I signed thinking about it but I hope Nate managed to persuade her into agreeing to move in with me.

Well whatever she decided, I need to get my house ready to welcome her and Nate. I turned my car around and decided to go to the Wallmart near my house. Luckily it still opened after 6 pm. I need to buy new bedsheet and pillow covers for both Nate and Alex. I couldn't let them used my old sheets.

I took the trolley and immediately went towards the bedroom area. I managed to find a spider-man bedsheet and pillow sets for Nate. I hope he like it and I found a flowery bedsheet and pillow sets for Alex. It looks feminine for her and I hope she likes it too. I also bought some new pillows.

Once I reached my apartment, I immediately cleaned the place making it ready for both Nate and her. I'm very sure, she wouldn't want to share bed with me and good thing my apartment has 3 bedroom. I'm going to let her sleep in my room which the master bedroom and move to the second room.

I immediately pack my things and move them to the second room. After moving all my things, I changed the pillow covers and bedsheet with new and clean ones, wiping the furniture in the room making sure it's sparkling clean.

It took me hours, to clean the whole house. I prayed hard hoping Nate managed to convince Alex to move to my apartment.

I looked at my watch and it showed, 10.00 pm. Nate should be in bed already and Alex would be calling me soon. I kept my fingers crossed when my phone rang and the caller ID indicated it was Alex.

"Hey Alex," I answered the phone at the same time feeling nervous with what she's going to say.

"Hi," she responded and sounded as nervous as I am. Does it mean she's coming?

"So, what do you want to discuss about?" I asked her.

"Is it really ok with you that Nate and I stay with you?" she asked.

"It's more that ok. I truly am happy and look forward to it," I honestly replied.

"Won't we be any trouble?" she asked again.

"My son is never a trouble to me," I responded, "Like I said I am so happy about it. With us staying together, we could share loving him," I pointed out.

"With us staying together, you have to change your lifestyle. Do you realize that?" she said as if a warning.

I chuckled, "Yes, I realized."'

"And you ok with that?" she asked.

"Yes, I'm very ok with it," I pressed.

"You sure?" she asked again.

"Very, very and 100 percent sure," I replied.

I heard she took a deep breath before responding, "Ok, I hope you won't regret later."

"I'm sure I won't," I sternly said. There's a silence on the other for a second.

"Alright," she said after a while, "I'm doing this for Nate's sake, you know."

"Yeah, I know," I smiled.

"What time you're coming to fetch us tomorrow?" she asked.

"I'll be coming at 8.30 o'clock," I told her.

"So early?" she pointed out.

"I've promised Nate that I'll come early," I reminded her. "We can go for breakfast again."

"Ok," she said, "I'll see you tomorrow."

"Right, good night," I said to Alex ending our conversation. She said goodnight before turning off her phone.

"Yes!!" I punched my fist in the air happily. I was so happy that she finally agreed to stay with me. She said she's doing it of Nate's sake. Well, let's hope I managed to make her felt that she wanted to stay with me too, forever.
