Chapter 10
Chapter 10
Skye
"Hey guy, morning," I greeted when went into my sister, Nessa's place. She and her husband Jake were in the kitchen having their breakfast. I assume the twins were still in bed at this hour. I kissed Nessa on the cheek before pulling a chair and sat beside her. Both she and her husband looking weirdly at me.
"You are early," she pointed out. "Want something to eat?"
"Just coffee," I said to her and then added, "I can't sleep."
"What's wrong? Something bothering you?" she asked as she stood up and poured the coffee in a mug. She knows me too well. Nessa is two years older than me. We might not be twins but we are very close just like Alex and AJ. We confined each other whenever we have problem. She knew about my feelings towards Alex and she's kept pestering me to tell Alex how I felt but I'm coward.
"I just found out that I have a son," I simply said. Jake chocked while Nessa looked at me with wide eyes. "Easy man," I said to Jake as I rubbed the back of him making him swallow his bread.
"Man, is it true?" asked Jake while Nessa still looked at me with shock.
I nodded my head, "Yes, I found out about it last night."
Nessa placed the nearly full mug in front of me, "Who's the mother?"
"Alex," making Jake chocked again.
"What?!!" Nessa asked. "How?"
"You remember we went to Hawaii?" I looked at her.
"Before she left?" she asked.
I nodded, "We went to a club one night and she got drunk."
"And you did with her while you were drunk?" she asked disgustedly.
"She was drunk but I'm not," I explained her. "We've made love and I've told her I love her before she passed out."
"But she couldn't remember anything?" Nessa smirked.
"Unfortunately," I sighed.
"Is that the reason why she left?" she asked. I nodded my head. "Did she tell anyone?"
"She only told her family a month after she left," I told her.
"And she's been keeping it from you until last night?" she asked again.
"She didn't even have the intention to tell about it me last night. It was coincidence. The boy ran up to her when I drop her at her house last night," I told her.
"How sure are you that the boy is yours?" Jake was the one asking.
"If you look at the boy, you will know he's mine without a doubt," I proudly told him, "He a photocopy of me."
"Really?" both Nessa and Jake queried. I smiled and continued nodding my head.
"He's nearly three now," I told them.
Nessa looked at me, "So what are you going to do now?"
"I've asked Alex to marry me," I smiled at her.
"And she agrees?" she asked.
"I think you know Alex," I chuckled.
"If I'm her, I would reject you just the same," Nessa smirked at me.
"Why?" I queried.
"Because I wouldn't want to marry a man who didn't love me wanted to marry me just because I have his son," she scoffed at me.
"I love her, you know that!" I scoffed back at her.
"Yeah, I know but she didn't," she pointed out. "To her you wanted her because you want to be responsible not because you love her."
I heaved deeply. She's got a point on that. Alex didn't know that I love her. She thought the only reason I want to marry her is because she had my child and because I wanted to be responsible.
"Well I do want to take the responsibility," I admitted softly looking down at the mug, "I want to be responsible father for my son but you know that just a reason for me to make her agree to marry me."
Nessa touched my face with both her palm and lifted my head making me look at her, "I know," she said softly, "But you have to tell her the truth why you wanted to marry her. If not, she wouldn't agree."
"How can I tell her?" I sighed, "Do you think she will believe me? She didn't even believe me when I tell her I wasn't drunk and remember what happen that night. She said Nate was a creation from a mistake by both of us." Nessa gasped hearing my words and I nodded my head, "She can't remember what happened that night. She didn't hear my declaration of love. Last night I tried to tell her my feelings but we were interrupted by Nate who came running. I didn't have the chance to let her know my feelings. The only way to make her know and realized my true feeling is by living together."
"By asking her to marry you?" she queried.
I nodded my head, "I want us to be a real family. I've told her that."
"How are you going to convince her to accept? Knowing her, I doubt she will agree," said Nessa. She knew Alex well too. Everyone knows how stubborn Alex is. It's no surprise.
"I told her, that if she didn't accept my offer, I'm going to take the matter to court," I told her.
Nessa gasped again, "Your threatened her?"
"That's the only way to make her think wisely," I said.
"You really going to take court action against her?" she asked.
"If only she refused to accept my offer," I smirked.
"You think you will win if you take the matter to court?" she asked.
I smiled. "I'm going to ask dad to help me."
She gasped and snorted, "You evil you!"
"Yes, it's the only way I could think of. I'm going to ask dad to use all his power to help me and I'm sure dad will help because this will also involve his grandson," I smirked again.
Nessa smiled, "Well, I have no doubt about that."
"I've told AJ about my plan and he agreed to help me to try to convince her to accept," I told my sister.
"She didn't listen to AJ before and you think she'll listen now?" she taunted.
"Well, AJ promised me that he will do all he can to help me to convinced her to accept," I pressed.
"Well, let's hope she listens," she said, "For her own good. BUT are you really willing to make her suffer?"
I heaved loudly, "If she didn't give me a choice. I didn't want to see her or any one of us suffer especially our son. I have no doubt he's every close to Alex since he has been with her since the day he was born. I know it will hurt both of them if they are separated but I have to make Alex see that I wanted to be part of their lives too. I don't want to be left out."
My sister hugged me, "I hope and wish that Alex would see how sincerely you felt toward her. I hope she'll accept you offer."
"I hope so too, sis. I really hope so," I hugged her back. We hugged for a second before letting go. It's feel good when you know someone you love supporting behind you and I know Nessa will always be supporting me no matter what I decided. "I'm going to see dad and tell him about the news. I want him to know my plan so that he won't be in shock when he suddenly find out about it."
"Yeah, I think you better and I'm very sure, he'll be happy with the news," said Nessa patting my back.
"Thanks again, sis," I kissed her cheek. "See you around, Jake," I said as I shook Jake's hand before heading out of the door.

ALEX
"I don't think I could help you," said dad when I told him about what Skye going to do and what he's offering me. "I think it best you accept his offer."
"Dad," I whined, "You're not asking me to just give up without even trying?"
"I'm very sure Skye will definitely ask his father's help too," he said to me.
"Well what's wrong with that?" I asked.
"You know who his father is? He's the Chief Judge; he definitely has stronger connection than me," he reminded me.
I sighed. I've totally forgotten about that. Yeah, Skye father is a Chief Judge, which definitely has stronger connection than my father when come to this.
"The only solution right now is you are to accept his proposal," dad said again.
"Dad, come on be serious," I rolled my eyes at dad.
"I am serious," he said looking at me seriously, "I won't blame him for wanting to have some right on Nate. He has the right. You have been denying him that right for 3 years."
"Dad, please you don't have to remind me about that," I rolled my eyes, "I'm not denying him his right. I've told him that he could see Nate during the holidays."
"You still going back to London?" asked AJ who was also in room with us.
"Definitely," I nodded my head and I saw him exchanged looks with dad.
"I could see why Skye is angry," snorted dad. "I wouldn't want to be a holiday dad too, if I were him."
"Dad, you're not making this easy for me," I pouted my lips.
"Things could be easy if you not stubborn," scoffed AJ.
"I'm not being stubborn," I protest, "As I said many times, I don't want Skye to feel responsible for me and Nate. I don't want to force him to change his life just because of me and Nate," I tried to explained but I could see AJ rolled his eyes.
"You are not forcing him anything! Don't you know that he has been feeling responsible for what happen to you ever since you left? He kept blaming himself. He could feel the reason you leave because of him!" AJ suddenly yelled at me.
"Which side are you on?!!" I yelled back at him, "You are supposed to be on my side!"
"I'm not siding anyone!!" he yelled again, "I just want you to be reasonable and stop being stubborn. Give him a chance to be Nate's father!"
"Who said that that I don't allow him to be Nate's father. No matter what he's the father and I won't deny that right. I just didn't want him to take full responsibility on both of us. I want him to go own with his own life and he could still see Nate during holidays. That if Nate wanted to do so," I explained.
"If you don't give a chance for Nate to get to know him, how is he going to trust Skye?" scoffed AJ.
"What you are trying to say?!!" I yelled at him.
"Give Skye and Nate a chance to get to know each other. Let Skye be the father he supposed to be for Nate. I'm sure Nate would want a father in his life too," said AJ while dad nodded his head indicating as if he agreed with AJ. "I think that is all Skye is asking."
I shook my head, "Like I've said earlier, I'm not denying Skye to be a father to Nate. He can see Nate anytime he wants especially during holiday," I stressed. "He can still be Nate's father. He doesn't have to ask me to marry him!!"
"If I were Skye, I will ask the girl who had my son to marry me too," dad said, "It the only way for me to show that I really want to be responsible." AJ nodded his head obviously agreed with dad.
"I would do that too," add AJ.
I rolled my eyes at both of them, "You don't have to marry the girl to show you are responsible. As I said so many times, I didn't want Skye to felt responsible or guilty about anything. He could still be responsible father from far."
"And then miss seeing his son growing up before his eyes?" asked AJ.
"He won't miss anything," I rolled my eyes again, "I'll update him about what happen."
"You think a real father would just be satisfied with that?" asked dad. "A father wouldn't want to miss seeing his son growing up. I think that what Skye actually wants, to see his son grow up before his eyes, to teach him how to throw a ball, how to ride a bicycle among other things that a father did with his son. He can't do that if you stay far away from him. Try to think about Nate too," dad added. "You think its fair to separate him from his real father?"
I sighed and don't really know what to say because I realized that dad had a point there.
"It wouldn't be fair for both of them," dad repeated again after seeing me silence. "Like AJ said, give them both a chance to get to know each other."
I heaved loudly as I know dad is right again, "Do you think that if I stay here and let Skye see Nate everyday, Skye would be ok with it?" I asked looking at both of them.
"I'm sure if you discuss the things seriously with him, he would consider," said dad while AJ just nodded his head.
I bit my lips. Maybe I should talk to Skye and discuss with him and tell him my proposal. Let's just hope Skye would consider it.
