Chapter Two: It's Called A Hustle Sweetheart

The usual, writing tickets and getting verbally abused by animals, Diane got used to it even though it was only her second day on the force. On her break, she had written 45 tickets, out of laziness and tiredness.

"Maybe that stupid wolf was right, I'm just a hopeless girl with dreams..." She mumbled to herself about to fall asleep when a frantic pig shakes her car, causing Diane to wake up startled.

"HEY YOU, AREN'T YOU A COP?!" The pig screamed into Diane's ear, she looked at the pig almost annoyed at the question.

"Uh yeah-? what's the problem?" She asked dazed and her eyesight was blurry, it's like objects were moving in front of her when nothing was moving at all.

"THERE'S A GUY ROBBING MY SHOP!" The pig says still screaming, Diane's eyes widened and she instantly went into police mode and ran out of her car and ran after the thief.

"Stop in the name of the law!" Diane yells chasing after the thief, the thief turns around and continues running faster, but Diane is still on his trail, they arrived at city square, where her boss is there responding to the call about the robbery but the weasel just ran away, Diane was still after him.

"DIANE, WAIT FOR THE REAL COPS!" Bogo yelled, but Diane didn't look back and instead kept chasing the weasel, it didn't take long for Diane to catch him but it took a lot of effort. Especially since there were animals smaller than her and she tried not to squish them. The weasel kicks the plastic donut in front of Diane, who dodges it but then it's about to hit some other animals.

Diane picks up the donut in the nick of time and saves the animals from being crushed from underneath the donut, she gets an idea and runs with the donut when the weasel was just about to get away. She threw the donut at the weasel, making him trip and fall.

Diane ran over towards him and arrested him with handcuffs, pushing him back towards the police station, kicking in the door, happiness expressed all over her face.

"I CAUGHT THE WEASEL!" Diane yelled happily, but that happiness is short lived when she seen Bogo staring at her from his office door.

"DIANE, MY OFFICE NOW!" Bogo yelled, Diane's ears flopped as she slowly dragged herself to Bogo's office, when she caught there, Bogo slammed the door directing Diane to a seat in front of his desk.

"Leaving your post, endangering the public," Bogo reprimanded Diane anger expressed all over his face, Diane gulped her hands fidgeting as she looked Bogo in the eyes.

"But to be fair, you did stop the weasel from stealing twenty-one pounds of moldy onions." Bogo says sarcastically, Diane sighed and placed her paw on her nose where her piercing was, well it was above her nose and on her eyebrow.

"Sir, I know you're angry with me, but it had to be done! Who knew what the moldy onions were for!" Diane tried to reason with Bogo but he was having none of it. Just then however, the door opened to reveal an Otter.

"Please find my husband, his name is Emmitt Otterton and he's been missing for ten days, here's his picture." The otter says, handing the picture to Bogo, he sighs softly.

"Ma'am our detectives are very busy, we will find him we promise." Bogo kept giving empty promises to the woman, while Diane stood by watching her. She got up from her seat and faced the woman.

"I'll find him." Diane spoke boldly, Mrs.Otterton smiled and hugged Diane tightly, before breaking the hug to give her the picture of her husband; Emmitt Otterton.

"Thank you, here's his picture." She says, Diane nods and takes the picture, observing it for any clues.

"Would you mind stepping outside?" Bogo says, directing Mrs.Otterton outside, closing the door behind her before turning around glaring at Diane.

"You're fired." He says still glaring, Diane scoffs and slams her feet onto the ground, with a scowl on her face.

"FOR WHAT?! The lady's husband has been missing for 10 days, 10 FREAKING DAYS!" Diane growls glaring back at Bogo annoyed.

"I don't care! Now when I open this door, you're to tell Mrs.Otterton that you're fired and that you will not be taking the case." Bogo replies, opening the door to reveal Assistant Bellwhether and Mrs.Otterton.

"I heard Diane is taking the case!" Bellwhether says with a smile, Diane found it odd that she just appeared out of nowhere but kept her suspicion to herself.

"No- she's not-" Bogo tried to explain to Bellwhether that Diane wasn't taking the case but she just wouldn't listen to what Bogo had to say and just barged into his office and took Diane's hand in hers.

"Y'know... us little guys got to stick together." Bellwhether says with a small smile, Diane smiled back hesitantly.

"Like glue." Diane replies, Bellwhether laughs and walks out of the office with Mrs.Otterton and Bogo sighs, slamming the door upset. He looked back at Diane and sighed heavily, she raised her eyebrow knowing what he was gonna say.

"You have 48 hours, that's two days to find Emmitt Otterton." Bogo says, Diane smirked and was mentally dancing on the inside, she walked out of Bogo's office and skipped away happily.

"Here you go, one missing Otter!" Benjamin says, handing Diane the file of Emmit Otterton, she opens it and was shocked to see so little evidence in the case file, but made use of what she had.

"Damn, that has to be the smallest case file ever!" Benjamin implies drinking his Coco Cola, Diane mentally glared at him and started looking for any clues, Benjamin slurped up all of the soda and was just drinking the remains which made annoying sounds. Diane groaned and grabbed the bottle from his hand.

"Can I borrow this?" She asks, using it as a tool to spot any clues, then she seen it. A mini-jumbo pop. Mr.Wolf instantly came to her mind.

"Get your jumbo pop..." She muttered out loud while Benjamin looked at her confused, she hoped down from her seat and ran out of the police station, with the picture of Emmitt Otterton in hand.

"Good work, Snake." Mr.Wolf says walking along side his long time friend, Mr.Snake, they knew each other since Wolf started his business as a popsicle seller.

"Same to you bud." Snake replies, Wolf looked ahead of him and seen Diane walking towards them, he smirked to himself as he watched her carefully.

"WOLF!" She yelled, still walking towards them.

"Oh metermaid, how ya been?" Wolf says with a small smirk, Diane rolls her eyes and gave him the picture of Emmitt Otterton.

"I need you to help me find this missing mammal." She says boldly, Wolf laughs along with his friend Mr.Snake.

"Yeah did someone steal a traffic cone? It wasn't me." Wolf replies still laughing, Diane glares and boots his leg.

"Will you help now?" She asks.

"DID YOU JUST BOOT MY LEG?!" Wolf asks shocked and looked up Diane, a pure shocked expression in his eyes.

"Yeah, your fifteen dollar popsilces can wait." Diane says, holding the pen in her hand close to Wolf.

"Fifteen dollars? No foxy, I make two hundred a day fox, since I was 12." Wolf corrected, Diane smirks knowing he just used his own words against him.

"Two hundred a day, which funny it says on your ta records you payed ZERO in taxes!" She says with a small laugh, Wolf stands there, the color wiped off of his face he wasn't about to get owned by a woman.

"Do you have proof of that?" Wolf asks, Diane smirks more and replays the recording of him admitting his own crime.

"Fifteen dollars? No foxy, I make two hundred a day fox, since I was 12." That was his own voice, Wolf stood there speechless, Diane stepped closer to them, their bodies almost touching but not fully.

"It's called a hustle, sweetheart." She patted Wolf's head with a small smile, Snake laughs and looks at Wolf with pity.

"HAVE FUN WORKING WITH THE FEDS!" He says before slythering away, Wolf looks back at Diane, nervousness evident in his eyes and face expressions.
