Chapter Six: The Night Howlers
Going towards city hall, the two made their way through the doors; of which they saw Assistant Bellwhether being mistreated by Mayor Lionhart and how she dropped her books in the middle of the hall.
Diane rushed by her side and helped her pick up the paper work along with the books, Bellwhether smiles at Diane but her smile fell when she noticed Mr.Wolf next to her. Pulling Diane to the side.
"That wolf... is your friend?" She asked shocked, Diane nods; what's wrong with that? It seems like they were getting weird looks everywhere. Even from Assistant Bellwhether.
"Uh... 'that wolf' has a name, and yes I am; is there a problem?" Diane asked raising a brow her voice now getting stern, Bellwhether stuttered before sighing completely.
"I just don't want you getting hurt, there's a lot of wolves that used to EAT foxes; now we can't trust these wolves what if... he comes to your house and kills you or something?" Bellwether came up with crazy scenarios.
Wolf was standing there, watching as Diane talked to Bellwether; his heart dropped when she said wolves used to eat foxes. Scoffing he walked off, Diane caught him and ran after him.
"Wolf, where are you going? The office is that way-" Wolf abruptly turned around and glared at Diane. Hate evident in his eyes.
"I thought we were friends Diane... but apparently that little sweet face of yours 'OH LOOK AT ME I'M A FOX COP.' I'm a wolf that eats predators? Are you insane?! I'm done, work on the case alone. I don't care anymore." Wolf says, stomping out of the city hall; Diane felt her world fall around her.
The one who helped her with this case is now turning their back on her, fine; Diane didn't need him anyway... or at least that's what she told herself. Bellwether stepped towards her, placing a hand on her shoulder.
"I have the footage." She says, pulling Diane into her office that was basically just a janitors closet; Diane honestly didn't think it could get any worse but when she turned around she seen Wolf with a smirk on his face.
Diane's eyes widened, she could've sworn he left? Or unless she was going crazy; which maybe she was from this insane case. Rubbing her eyes, he was still there; yeah she had a few screws loose.
"Here it is, I have to go back to Lionhart now; see you later?" Bellwether waves and leaves the room, replaying the footage the two saw that Manchas was taken by timber bears. But that didn't make sense, wouldn't have Bogo seen them when coming to the Rainforest District?
Unless Bogo was in on this whole thing, which wouldn't be surprising; but Diane suspected Bellwether. How did she know they needed the footage if Diane hadn't told her why they were there?
Something didn't add up, coming back to her senses; Diane sees where the wolves took Manchas. They were going through a tunnel, odd; all of this seemed odd.
"That tunnel is for maintenance," Wolf began turning his gaze onto Diane, she looked... beautiful; something about Diane just made butterflies pop into his stomach.
"It's where you avoid observation from cops." He explained to her, she nodded with a soft sigh; locating the car to see them driving up towards an abandoned building called " The Cliffside Asylum" was this a hospital of some sort?
"You're thinking what I'm thinking right?" Diane asked looking up at Wolf, her heartbeat increasing just a little bit— by a little bit means a lot; those yellow eyes of his... they were so mysterious and pretty. She could stare at them for ages to come.
"You got it foxy." Wolf replied with a smug smirk on his face, with a small the two walk out of city hall confident; this was it. The chance to prove everyone wrong who doubted her, with her friend Wolf by her side.
