Chapter One

August 6th, 1964
London, England.
With my suitcase in hand, I heard the steam spit from underneath the train as it slowly came to complete stop. You may not know me, but my name is Lilly. I have brown eyes that matched the color of dark chocolate, I have waist length brown hair that has light volume into it, and I always wear cute mod clothes whether it would be a peter pan collar shirt or a pastel geometric dress. I grew up around Liverpool, England with my dad and never had a mother. My dad and my mom divorced when I was only five years old, and after my dad got divorced, my dad and I moved to Liverpool, England to start a new life. My dad and I originally came from America, and I missed it dearly when we had to move. The only close friend that I've ever made was Richard Starkey that was my next door neighbor and his parents were very sweet, and also kind to my dad and I. My dad received a decent job working at a steel factory that makes doors and frames. It pays a decent amount of money to get both of us along well, and what was nice was that Richard's dad also worked along with my dad. My dad and his dad became good friends, so my dad didn't mind Richard coming over and hanging out with me at our house.

As kids, Richard and I would always play out at a nearby park, skip rocks by the Mersey, or chasing around each other at the docks. We stuck together like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The first impression that Richard thought of me was he thought my American accent was so neat, and he was always fascinated by it. He always wanted to try and mimic me, and I thought it was pretty funny. Richard was a few years older than me, he was twelve and I was ten.

Richard was always sick and had to be sent to the hospital. Everyday when I visit him, I would see him playing with a drum in his lap and a couple of drumsticks. Richard said that the hospital gave the instrument to him and he absolutely enjoyed it. Richard would curiously tap the drum with his sticks and hummed a random tune, and then he would encourage me to sing with him. Richard had a very weak immune system ever since he was baby. He wouldn't have just a normal cold, but a very bad flu. I was always there for him and I would stop by to see him every chance I got. Richard told me one day he wanted to be a drummer and be in a band, and then he wanted to become famous. Richard promised me that he would share the fame with me and we wouldn't be middle class people anymore.

Well, sadly, Richard and I had to part our owns ways. We had a lot of things on our minds when we became young teenagers. Richard still wanted to pursue his dreams, and I wanted to make a living by getting a job. My dad always told me that someday that I'll be on my own and I have to get a job by myself, and get a place to stay. Every time I wanted to visit Richard, Richard wouldn't be home. His parents always told me that he was at a gig and he made himself at home with a new band called, Rory Storm and the Hurricanes. Richard would offer me to stop by and visit him at one of his gigs at night, but I get too caught up with filling applications for being a hair dresser or for anything that is available.

Ever since then, Richard moved away a few years later, and I'm still looking for a job. I had no clue where Richard is and I always wondered if his dreams ever did come true. I travel train by train searching for a good job that has benefits, and I'll be able to get a nice home to finally live in rather than having a small apartment in the heart of London.

Once the train stopped in front of me, I grabbed onto the side railing, and boost myself up on the three steps of the train. I slid the door open and walked inside as I carried my suitcase with me in my left hand. I walked down the long winding hallway and searched for a cabin to sit in. I immediately spot an empty cabin and made my way into it as I slide the door open, and closed the door behind me. Then I placed my suitcase above my seat on a rack and then I sat down close to the window. As I gazed outside the window, I suddenly heard frantic screaming and noticed a swarm of girls chasing after four boys that were running this way towards the train. I couldn't believe that these girls can scream so loud that I can hear them through this glass window in front of me. The train began to whistle and signal its horn that it's ready to move, and when the train began to slowly move along, the four boys with matching suits and shoulder length hairstyles gained speed as they out ran the mob of girls. Then they all jumped one by one into the train safely. I was in total shock of how fast they ran. They must've had practice running to go that fast to catch a moving train.

I laughed to myself and shake my head as I lay back in my seat and twiddled with my fingers, waiting patiently to arrive to my next destination which would be Manchester. As I slowly closed my eyes to get a little nap, I unexpectedly heard my cabin door slide open very quickly. I opened my eyes up and turned my head, noticing that it was the four boys that out ran the mob of girls outside. They were all huffing and panting as they all took a seat, and one sat beside me. I couldn't help but to realize how cute they were up close. One of the boys sat beside me had a sweet baby face with perfect arched eyebrows and had a cute smile when he started to grin at me, and also giving me a wink once in awhile. And the second one that was next to him was a bit difficult to really see him, because the one next to me was in my way, but I could tell he was pretty handsome. He had a defined jawline, thick eyebrows, and he was very thin and lengthy. At the moment, I hear him eating a sandwich as the crackle of his wrapper was being handled. Across from me by the window was a dashing and witty man that has his leg crossed over the other, he had thin rosy lips, a bit bushy eyebrows, and a cheeky smile as he keep giving me passes at me. Then last....he looked awfully familiar. Somebody that I once knew a long time ago, and he had the same blue puppy dog eyes and big nose. The only few things that were making me wonder about him was his rings that he wore on both of his hands, and his hairstyle.

I realized that maybe it was Richard. Could it be him? No way, it couldn't...I haven't seen him for ages. Is this Rory Storm and the Hurricanes? Did he became famous and those were his fans that were after him? I had to find out for sure, so I sat up from the edge my seat and examined him. He looked at me curiously as he noticed me staring at him, and he simply smiled at me politely and he spoke, "'Ello there. At least there's one bird that isn't gonna tackle us down." He chuckled. "Aye, we found ourselves a pretty one 'ere!" The one across from me proclaimed with his witty smile he had on his face as he wiggled his eyebrows. When the blue eyed one spoke, his voice brought back my memories. It was definitely Richard. "Richard??" I asked surprisingly. Everyone turned their heads and looked at him clueless. "You know my name?" He asked back as his mouth dropped a little and he looked at me funny like I was crazy. "Yes...You sound so familiar. You're Richard aren't you? We were best friends growing up in Liverpool. You were always sick at the hospital so I would come and visit you." I smiled warmly at him. "Lilly! I can't believe it's you! You...you look amazin'!" Richard smiled excitedly and his eyes widened. "Yer name is Richard? Hahaha!" Laughed the witty one across end from me. "Oh shut it, John..." Richard said as he rolled his eyes at John and then everyone else laughed a bit as well. I covered my mouth as I tried to hide a huge smile on my face and I giggled.

"If you're not going to introduce us to you're cute friend, I will." Grinned the one sitting next to me with his sweet baby face and he pointed his index finger at Richard. "I'm Paul. Paul McCartney. And this is George Harrison beside me, John Lennon across from you by the window, and you already know Ringo Starr." Paul introduced everyone. "Ringo? That's a neat name. Is that your new nickname?" I smiled at Richard. "Yeah, I'm a fan of rings." Ringo laughed as he held his hands up. "Hehe, Ritchie." John chuckled as nudged Ringo's shoulder. "'Ey! Cut it out!" Ringo said with annoyance as he pulled his arm away from John and rubbed his arm. "Well, it's nice to meet all of you guys." I giggled. "Where are ya headed to?" George asked in his thick scouse accent as he popped his head out from Paul. "I'm heading to Manchester to get a job...I haven't really  found any yet. It's been a bit of a drag." I explained to them as I bite my lower lip. "You can hang out with us?" Ringo offered as he gave me a smile. "Yeah! It'll be great! Forget that shit. Ya should come with us." John smiled cheekily. "'Ey watch your language Lennon, there's a bird with us you know." Paul said as he placed his index finger on his lips. "Shhh." he added. "I think that'll be nice, but I don't know..." I smiled a little. "I think you should come." George smiled. "We need some company." he said as he continued to eat his sandwich. "Aye! Yer in, love. Ye can't reject Ringo's offer." John pointed out as he took out a bottle of Coca-Cola out from underneath his seat and played with it randomly. For one thing, I had no clue how he magically took out a bottle of soda.

"So love, you have a boyfriend?" Paul asked out of the blue as he raised his eyebrows up curiously. "Paul!" Ringo exclaimed as his eyes widen with shock for asking such a stupid question. "Oh Ritchie, I'm sure she's single. Ye think I have a good chance with 'er?" John chuckles as he nudge Ringo's arm once more. Ringo rolled his eyes and gave John a stern glare. John just shrugged it off and just gave me a playful smile. "Is she really? You'r single, love?" Paul said sweetly to me. I just laughed softly and nodded. "Yes, I've been single all my life. I haven't really found anyone yet." I said. "Ya can go on a date with me." George grinned as he showed his vampire like teeth when he popped his head out to see me again. "She's not goin' to date anyone. She's my best friend. Can you guys just knock it off?" Ringo said. Everyone looked at him and totally went silent for awhile as we rode on the train, and only the sound of the rickety train tracks were heard. Every once in awhile I would hear a crunch from George's sandwich and I kept staring at John as he constantly cheers me up by placing the top of the soda bottle up by his nostril; pretending that he was snorting it up.

As time went by, I noticed an old man that was about in his fifties coming into our cabin. He sat in between Ringo and John, and everyone started to stare at him. "Who's that?" John whispered to Paul. "Who's wha'?" Paul questioned outloud. "Tha' right here beside Ringo and I." John said as he darted his eyes towards the old man. "Oh! That's my grandfather." Paul smiled proudly. "Yer grandfather?" John asked in confusion. "Yes, of course." Paul said with a nod. "Nah, that's not yer grandfather." George said. "Yes it is." Paul turned his head to George. "Yer grandfather is at home." George added. "Oh this is my other grandfather." Paul grinned. "You have two grandfathers?" I questioned. "Yeah, it's a little bit hard to explain." Paul chuckled. "Ohhh." I smiled warmly and then I waved at Paul's grandfather. His grandfather smiled back at me and waved as he sat in a posh way. "He can talk can he?" John asked. "Of course he's a human being isn't he?"Paul said. "If he's your grandfather then who knows. Haha!" Ringo laughed. John smiled widely and George laughed as well, "Well 'ello grandfather!" John said to Paul's grandfather. "'Ello." Paul's grandfather simply said. "He's very clean ain't he." John said to Paul. "Oh, he's really clean." Paul grinned as he got up and turned over to a mirror behind us. He took out a comb and started brushing his hair. "I'm gonna get meself some coffee." Paul's grandfather grinned as he stood up from his seat. "Want a cup?" he asked me. "It's alright, I drink tea. Thank you though." I smiled politely to him. "Alrigh' be right back lads!" he smiled excitedly as he walked out of the cabin and closed the door behind him. "He's really nice, but a real mixer." Paul said as he kept brushing his hair a bit more before he sat back down in his seat. "I think you could be my girlfriend, you're really sweet towards my grandfather, I appreciate it." Paul whispers quickly into my ear when the others weren't paying attention. I smiled at him and just nodded as Paul gave me a wink.

Suddenly, a young middle aged man appeared in our cabin as he entered our room. It seems like everybody wanted to come into our cabin. Maybe it would've been better if I was in this cabin by myself, but at least I finally got to be reunited with my best friend, Ringo. "Who's this?" asked the man. He had a nice trimmed hair cut and a formal suit on, so I thought he looked like a buisnessan to me by the way he was dressed. "'Ey Brian. This is Lily. I haven't seen 'er for such a long time. She's my best friend. Is it alrigh' if she...you know, stayed with us for awhile?" Ringo asked nervously. Sadly nobody else wanted to support him because Ringo told the others to be quiet. "Well, she doesn't look like a fan to me. She can stay, but it wouldn't look good to the public. You know the rules. No girls." Brian said sternly. "Please? I promise that she won't be a bother. She doesn't have a job or anywhere to go, Brian." Ringo explained. "Well. If you boys can find 'er a job, she can stay with us. Otherwise, she's leaving. No ifs or buts. I'll meet you boys at the hotel." Brian said as he held out his hand to me. I smiled at him and took his hand, and then we shook hands firmly. "I'm the manager of the Beatles and my name is Brian Epstien. These boys are mine and I have a lot of rules for them. You look like a nice bird, so I'm sure there will be no trouble." Brian said as he examined me. He was pretty tall as he towered over me when I sat in my seat. I had to tilt my head up a bit just so I could see his face better. "It's nice to meet you. I promise I'll do my best, thank you so much." I simply grinned. "Good, it's nice to meet you too. I'll see you later. And John? What are you doing?" Brian said as he headed towards the door and looked at John curiously with a disgusted look on his face. John hardly paid any attention to Brian as he kept playing with his soda bottle. I couldn't help but to giggle a little. Brian rolled his eyes, "John, are you even listening to me? You boys have a lot to do today. Plus you boys got a big concert coming up soon. There's no fooling around. And you got an interview coming. John? John?" Brian raised his voice at John. John stopped playing with his bottle and looked up at Brian. "Yer a swine." John simply said. "Am I right, George?" he smiled at George. "Yeah, a swine." George agreed as he unwrapped another sandwich and muched on it.

"Oh for goodness sakes. See you boys later." Brian sighed as he opened the door and went out.
