The Only Part

Hey, y'all. My friend wrote this, and she's very talented. I hope y'all like this.

When our friend Yellow, otherwise known as the Captain, called us for a meeting, I had assumed it was because someone spilled coffee in the cafeteria. I had no idea he would have told us about what's wrong with the ship.

"Team," He said, "We need to discuss something important."
I looked at Red, my best friend. He shrugged at me. The Captain continued, "The wires are jacked. The ship is off course. Information is being loaded wrongly onto the ship. There's noises in the vents, and the reactor is acting up. As you all know, this is a huge issue." He paused a second before looking at his hands on the table. "There is an imposter among us."

Panic rose from everyone. Fingers were pointed. I think Cyan started crying. Red looked at me, fear in his eyes. A lot of questions were asked. "Who is it?" and "How do you know?" The Captain simply held his hand up, to silence everyone. "I don't know who, but I know it's happening. I checked and double checked the wires and steering before we set off. Someone had to have messed with it." He let out a long sigh. "For now, put on your helmets in case the oxygen is depleted, and finish the tasks I am sending to your tablets. Be careful. The imposter is bound to kill if they get bored. I know it." With that, he put on his helmet, and went towards Weapons. Everyone else sat for a minute, then slowly started putting on their helmets and opening their tablets. After a while, it was just Red and I at the table.

"Should we stay together?" I asked him. "Yeah, White, we should. We need to find Pink though." He stated. Pink is Red's little sister. This is her first time on the ship, and she wasn't at the meeting.

"Pink!! Come on, where are you?" Red yelled in all the rooms of the ship. "Where could she be? It isn't safe for her to be out here by herself! Pink!" After a while of searching, Red turned to me, tears in his eyes, he said "What if we are too late? What if she's dead?" I grabbed his hand "She won't be. Come on, we haven't checked Electrical."

When we turned the corner from Storage to get to Electrical, we heard the faint thud of a vent closing. Red panicked, and booked it to Electrical. The next few seconds of my life are ones I will never forget. I heard a scream, then a sob. I ran in and saw Red, sitting on the floor, holding Pink in his arms. "It's ok, it's ok, it's ok, it's ok. I'm here, don't die on me. Don't die on me, please!" I shuddered at the sight. Pink's helmet was cracked, and her suit was cut at the torso. Blood was pouring out of it. She was breathing so heavy, all while Red kept repeating "It's ok, I'm here, I got you, don't die!" He looked up at me, "Don't just stand there!!! HIT THE EMERGENCY BUTTON, GET HELP, TAKE HER TO MEDBAY, DO SOMETHING!" I froze. I didn't know what I would do. Then, Green came in "What's all the commoti- OH MY GOD!" She called a meeting, and Red, the Captain, and I carried Pink to Medbay.

"Pink, please, stay with me! It's me, it's Red! Your big brother." Red kept repeating that line. We heard the rapid beeping of her heart on the monitor. Pink was heavily bandaged, and her suit was removed and thrown away. She had just been wearing a white gown. The Captain pulled me to the side, "She is going to die. You know that right? There is no way she will survive this. I

don't have the heart to tell Red. You know him best, he's your best friend. You need to talk to him." I was shocked. "You mean to tell me there is no possible way she will ever survive this? Even with our technology?" The Captain shook his head. "It would take a miracle, and we don't have one. Take Red with you to Communications, no one should be in there. Sit him down, and tell him. I'll stay in here with Pink."

I didn't have much choice, and I couldn't argue because the Captain had already walked away.

"Red? Lets go." I told him in a soft voice. "No," He said sharply, "I'm not leaving her." I hugged him, but he pushed me away. "Stop. I'm not leaving her. Not until she wakes up, or dies." Those words made me cry. "Don't you see, Red? She's already dead. She won't wake up. The cut is too deep. She won't survive." Like on cue, the monitor went flat. Instead of sitting up, or sobbing, or hugging his sister, Red stood up, and walked out of Medbay.

I chased after him. "Where are you going? Your sister just died." He didn't answer. He just kept walking. "Red stop! Talk to me, please." He turned into Storage, towards the trash chute. "What are you doing?" I asked. We got to the lever. He removed his helmet. "You know we can't take off our helmets if we are getting rid of trash. Put it back on!" He yanked on the lever. "I know we can't. It's so if we fall out of the ship we have a chance of survival, but what if we don't want to survive?" I stepped forward, "If you're going to jump out of this ship, I am jumping out with you. With my helmet on, so I can catch you." I started to put my helmet on, but he chuckled and I stopped, he said. "You won't be able to save me in enough time. I wasn't able to save Pink. Why should I get special treatment?" The chute started to open. "Red stop! Please, Pink wouldn't want this!" I cried. Noticing his helmet again, I grabbed it and tried to push it on his head. It was hard to see him clearly as tears filled my eyes. Everything was blurred. He punched the helmet, intending to shake it out of my hand, but it smacked into my face, forcing me backwards to the ground. "ARE YOU MAD?" I heard a voice say. Purple came up to us, and threw Red backwards. He shut the chute and picked me up off the ground.

"What in space are you doing? Are you thick?" I hadn't ever heard Purple's voice before. I guess he's British. "Great, you saved Red, thank you." I said, Purple scoffed, "I didn't save him for you, tosser. I saved him because there's a loose loony on the ship and we need as many Crewmates we can get!" He had been right, but he didn't have to be so harsh. I noticed my lip was bleeding. The helmet must have forced me to bite my lower lip. Purple got my attention after a minute. "Have you seen Cyan anywhere? We were looking at the security footage, and suddenly she's gone." I looked over for Red, who was nowhere to be seen. "No," I said. "Looks like we both have missing friends.

Purple scoffed again "I can't get any help from you stupid Americans. Cyan is French, a sensible girl. I need to find her. What rubbish. Cheerio." There was nothing cheery about that. I needed to find Red, and knowing him, he is probably in Navigation, messing with the steering. He has always been a bit of a perfectionist with the steering. "If it isn't perfect, we could hit an asteroid and die." It has always been a joke, but this time around, it didn't feel funny. Sure enough, I found him there. "Doing tasks?" He glared at me. "Might as well. There's nothing we can do but tasks." I had noticed he had a bruise on his cheek. Must have happened when

Purple threw him to the ground. "Where's the British pretty boy?" I smiled, there's Red, and his usual self. "Looking for Cyan. You haven't seen Cyan have you?" He looked up at me, "No. Isn't she German or something? I can't understand a word she says." I rolled my eyes. "Elle est française. Tu et moi est Américaine." Red rolled his eyes back at me "Gesundheit." I took a French class years ago, but I remember a lot of it. "She is French. You and I are American. I didn't sneeze." He opened his mouth as if to speak, but he couldn't, because the alarm went off. Someone cut off the oxygen.

We had been in Navigation, so it didn't take us long to get to O2. Red punched in the code, and Brown showed up. "Ooh if it isn't the lovebirds? Always together. I just fixed the code in Admin. It took me less than 5 seconds, but I see it took the two of you a while to punch in a few numbers. Oh well. We can't all be speedy." I loathed Brown. "Maybe you should finish your tasks instead of being a cocky -"

"Whoa there White, ignore Brown. Let's do our tasks." Brown has smiled. "Oh, your boyfriend, always sticking up for you." That's it. I lunged at Brown, knocking him to his back. I couldn't actually hit him, because he had his helmet on, but I started pressing buttons on his suit like mad. Red yanked me off Brown, and all they were both doing was laughing at me. The laughter ended quickly though, because we got a message on our tablets.

Dead Body Reported.

When we got to the Cafeteria, Purple was sobbing like crazy. "Why did it have to be Cyan? The only good one." The Captain excused Purple, and he left, leaving a trail of tears. "Team, this is the second body, and it has only been an hour. At this rate, all of us will be dead in the next few hours." Red let out a dry cough. I knew he wanted to be with Pink. She was only 13, an adventurous spirit. She was very independent, and didn't often listen to authority. Which is probably why she wasn't at the meeting, and stayed in Electrical doing tasks. Orange spoke up, "Where was the body?" The Captain said it was in the Lower Engine. "Should we vote someone out?" Blue looked shocked. "Are you insane? If we start voting people off, the imposter has a better chance of winning. We need as many Crewmates as possible." The Captain excused himself after a little while. With a note of "Continue your tasks."

Red and I set off for our tasks. I had finished all mine in about fifteen minutes, but Red had one more in Reactor. So we set off for that. Once we got there, we saw two bodies. Purple, and Orange. A double-kill. Does that mean there are two impostors? They were called in, and Red had to carry me to the Cafeteria. I had fainted at the sight, because instead of cuts on their torsos, they had been beheaded. The Captain looked furious. "Four bodies! There's six of us left. Red informed me there were two dead bodies, meaning there might be two impostors. Keep an eye out, and trust no one." Then he left again. Why does he always leave early?

I decided to take his advice, and trust no one. Not even the Captain.

Red pleaded with me. "White are you seriously going to keep ignoring me? You've been with me this whole time. I didn't kill anyone!" That's true. I thought. He would have killed me once he had the chance. " I've decided to trust you, and only you." He smiled, "I knew you would."

Green met back up with us, "Hi guys. Crazy day, huh?" I looked at her. "Yeah, insane all thes-" Before I could finish my sentence, though, she scurried away. Was it something I said? I looked back over at Red, who shrugged. "I have to pee," he said "be right back." That's weird. Should I go with him? We promised to stick together. Wait, are there even bathrooms on the ship? I decided to just leave it alone. Red was weird, so he probably found some other way to use the bathroom, and I was uninterested in figuring out what it was.

I just walked around the ship, I had finished my tasks before, so it didn't matter to me about hurrying around and getting them done. I stopped in front of Electrical. The memory of Pink came back. I thought about just walking by, not going in, but something took over me. I had this feeling of go inside, it isn't safe out in the hallway, you will die if you stay here. I decided to take my own advice, and I went inside. There wasn't much going on, no one was in there. Some wires hung down from various places, but it was a normal looking room. My tablet sounded, so I looked at it.

Dead Body Reported.

When I got to the Cafeteria, I started searching for Red, and thankfully, he was at the table with me after a few minutes. "Where was the body?" Blue asked. "Brown died, right outside Electrical. In the hallway." Green told everyone. I swear I felt my soul leave my body. Right outside Electrical. I really could have died. "I'm scared out of my mind, Captain." Blue said. "Maybe we should vote someone out of the ship." The Captain made a weird sound, a squeak, not quite human, but I think I was the only one who noticed though. It puzzled me. "Vote as you wish, I must go." He left early again. "Who do we vote for, then?" Blue said. Red spoke up. "Blue, you were not for this voting thing earlier, and now you are? When there are a few of us left? It's like you want the Crewmates to die." Blue stuttered. "I-I didn't, there wasn't..." Green smirked "Blue then, huh? Blue, you sick ba-"

"Hey, guys, it's not me please stop, it's not me!" But it was too late, we had all voted Blue, and he knew he had to be shot out of the ship. "You'll regret this."
And we really did. Blue wasn't the imposter.

I was freaking out at this moment, because I knew Red couldn't have been the impostor, which leaves Green and the Captain. It wouldn't be the Captain... right? At this point I didn't know what to think. Red still had his task in Reactor. If he finished it, then we could hide and be safe. "Lets go to Reactor, you still have your task." He nodded, and we headed there from the Cafeteria. Once we got inside, we saw the Captain and Green. They must not have heard us come in, because neither of them turned around. Green looked to be doing a task, and the Captain was standing right behind her. What is he doing? I thought to myself.

I heard him chuckle.
"Oh Green. Simple, innocent, dumb Green."
Still focused on her task, Green didn't look away. She just said "Sir?"
"You don't get it, do you?" He asked "You have survived this long, but I'm a little bored." The imposter is bound to kill if they get bored.
"Sir, I don't understand."

"You don't have to." With a swift movement, the Captain kneed Green in the back, knocking her forward onto the Reactor, then he shot her.
The Captain was the impostor this whole time.
"You- You killed my sister!" Red shouted, and lunged at the Captain

"Stop! Red, he has a gun! He will shoot you, too! Stop!" But it was too late, Red had already gotten to the Captain and bashed his helmet in, shards of the dark glass got everywhere. The Captain just laughed. "Idiots," He shoved Red off of him. "Don't you see? I have already won." He grabbed my arm, and yanked me toward him. "I just have to kill one of you."

Everything was going by so fast. I couldn't breathe normally, and I tried taking off my helmet, but my arms were held down by the Captain. Red was screaming about something. I couldn't make out the words. Why am I here? I thought, I never wanted to be on this stupid ship anyway. A memory came flooding back to me. One with Red and I, sitting in a tree fort on Earth. Red's Earth given name was Julian, and mine was Sam. When we got on the ship, we were stripped of our names and identities. We were given a color, and that was how things were meant to be. It was a sick thing, but with no identity, there wasn't conflict about who was who. You were just a color with a helmet. Red had told me, in the tree fort, that he had gotten a job in space.

"Yeah right," I told him.
"I tell no lies, Sam."
"How'd you get a job in space?"
"I have my ways."
"Whatever will I do while you're out doing missions for Darth Vader?" "That's the thing."
"What?"
"I want you to come with me."

I did, and here I am, in the arms of the Captain. About to die. Everything came back. Red was crying, the Captain had stopped talking, and he was looking at me. I noticed this time he had a knife in hand. "This is the same knife I used to kill Pink. It was easy, really. Pink was ignorant. Maybe I would have spared her had she come to the meeting. Stupid girl." Red was growing angry. "I hate you!" He started towards the Captain and I, looking as if to either grab me, or physically hurt the Captain.

But he couldn't.
He didn't make it in time.
I felt the sharp pain in my side. The Captain stabbed me. I fell over, trying to get up, but I couldn't move. My breathing was rigid. It hurt to bring the air in. My vision was blurred. Someone picked me up, and started yelling things at me, but I couldn't make out what. I wanted this pain to end. And suddenly,
it did.

Well, that was intense...

Anyway, hope y'all loved this story! All credits to my friend, Cayli!
