>Chapter Twelve< Isaac

I woke up covered in sweat and in the middle of a scream. Two nurses ran into my room. "What is it, Isaac?" The first one asked, breathing heavily.

Why was she breathing heavily? I don't know. Maybe she had heard me from all the way down the hall.

"Just-uh-a nightmare." I explained hastily.

You see, I'm not sure if I should call what I experienced a nightmare or a memory. For some reason, I kept getting these hazy pictures of me in an operating room. It was through my eyes, of course.

"How did I get in this room?" I asked, taking in my surroundings. The nurses exchanged worried looks. "You don't remember, Isaac?" The blonde one asked. I shook my head slowly.

I probably did remember...technically speaking.

"We had to preform surgery on your back, Isaac. When you were looking for Cecilia, you ripped open the stitches." The brunette told me.

I blinked, not really sure what to make of this new information.

"You're saying that I landed myself in surgery again because I was chasing after Cecilia?" I questioned.

For some reason, I found myself confused. I wasn't sure why I was so worried about Cecilia. I mean sure, we were kind of friends now. But kind-of-friends don't hurt themselves just to check if the other's okay.

The blonde nurse gave me a gentle pat on the back. "We can take you to see her, if you'd like." She told me.

"Not too sure I can get up." I said quietly, looking away from her.

The brunette nurse nodded. "I figured you would say that." She said, shooting her partner an annoyed look. "We'll bring her to you."

I glanced up at her. Did I really want to see Cecilia?

Eventually, I decided I did. "Okay." I agreed. Both of the nurses smiled. The blonde one walked out of the room.

"I like you tattoo, Isaac." The nurse told me. I stared at her. "You saw it?"

The nurse blushed. "Sorry, that sounded weird. Yes I saw it, but it's because you ripped your hospital gown."

I continued to stare at her. Her cheeks turned redder. "Oh my gosh!" She said childishly. "I didn't see anything...special! Just that tattoo!"

I blinked. "Okay...you were creeping me out there for a second."

The nurse huffed.

We sat in silence for a moment. I could feel my blood pulsing. My heart was pounding. I was sweating.

I was excited to see Cecilia.

After what seemed like forever, the blonde nurse walked into my room, supporting Cecilia. When she saw me a wide grin spread across her face. She limped over to my bed and sat on the edge of it.

"Hey," she said quietly.

I smiled at her. "Hey," I replied weakly. I heard the brunette nurse giggle.

Cecilia and I looked at her. She put her hand over her mouth.

"Sorry." She apologized. "I'll shut up."

I turned my eyes back to Cecilia. She allowed herself a small laugh.

Looking more closely at her face, I noticed that her cheeks were a bit wet. "Are you okay?" I asked.

She blinked. "Yeah," she replied weakly. Immediately, I could tell she was lying. She refused to look me in the eye.

"You suck at lying." I decided to inform her. "Now talk."

Cecilia took a deep breath. She still wasn't looking at me. I was getting nervous.

"There's something I have to tell you." She said slowly.
