I woke up bright and early and headed for the studio.

"Good Morning Naperville!" I said in my usual singsongy voice. That was my usual intro after starting to record.

"Welcome back to episode 192 of What About Life" I kept on.

"Today we will be going into detail about some life hacks and then transferring over into music history," I said giving them a briefing of what I'd be talking about today.

After a while of going over current events, life hacks, and music history, I wrapped up the show."Ok, folks thanks for tuning in with me today! I'm Lee your host, stay tuned for Alli Peddler for the Hot 100 countdown right after this." I finished putting on commercials and hit the stop on my record button as this was a pre-recorded show.

I got all my stuff packed up and walked out of my studio room.

"Hey Lee how was it?" My boss Brielle Engleman asked

"It went as well as usual Bri, I'm excited about this one," I said to her.

"Great I will send it over to Johnson to approve and then it'll air tomorrow!" She confirmed. Eric Johnson was our chief radio inspector to make sure everything was solid before going on air.I then decided to get a Starbucks coffee and went home to start working and gather research for my next show.

Ring... Ring... Ring... My phone rang.

I answered when I saw it was Jason.

Me: Hey you.

Jason: Hey Lee!

Me: What's up?

Jason: Well, I was calling to ask if you wanted to meet up next week because I'm coming to see a client in Hartburg.

Hartburg was practically attached to Naperville. More like a suburb almost.

Me: Sure that sounds great J, where do you want to go?

Jason: How about The Pier?

Me: Sure, I've never been there before but I heard it's great. I will just have to get something to wear though first. I laughed, the Pier was the fanciest place in town... Like black tux fancy. Was this a date? It sure seemed like it...

Jason: We can go somewhere else Lee if you want I just heard that place was good.

Me: Oh no no Jason it's good, I can't wait!

Jason: Perfect sounds good, send me your address and I will pick you up at 7. I will make a reservation too so we for sure have a table.

Me: Thank you, See you then.

Jason: See you then Lee, Have a good rest of your day.

Me: You too J. Ba-bye.

Jason: Bye Lee.

I hung up after I heard him say bye and took a huge deep breath. This was a date. No boy asks a girl to a fancy restaurant nonetheless the pier without it being a date.

I started back to work on my research and a few hours later I heard a door shut and a huge slam against my room wall.

"Rains" I called walking out of my room around the corner catching her and Cael making out. Ughhhh great why did I have to be home?

"Shhhoottt" I heard her whisper to Cael.

"Heyyyy Lee, I didn't know you'd be here," she said scratching her head embarrassingly."Well that's obvious" I chuckled shaking my head.

" Um well, this is awkward. I'm gonna go and put my headphones in." I said dismissing myself from the conversation.

Rains and Cael stood there awkwardly probably not knowing what to do. I went back to my room and put my headphones in I closed my eyes and started thinking of another topic to do my show on when I drifted off to sleep.

FLASHBACK............ (Warning Contains PTSD and loss of a loved one)

"Dad wake up" I called to my dad who was still asleep at 10:30 in the morning which never happened.

No answer...

"Daddddd We have to go, we're going to be late" I hollered once more up the stairs.

Still no response. I trotted up the stairs and knocked on his door. When I heard no answer I entered.

"Dad it's almost 11 we have to be going," I said walking up to him. No answer."Dad," I said shaking him realizing something was off.

I checked for a pulse there was nothing his body was cold.

"No no no, DAD wake up," I said again realizing I was almost screaming. "This can't be happening," I said with tears pouring.

As the tears flowed I pulled out my phone to call for help. Once I got my phone out of my pocket I dialed 911.

911 Operator: 911, What's your emergency?

Me: I need someone here quick, I came to pick my dad up and he's in bed still not breathing.I tried to say it as calmly as I could.

911 Operator: OK Ma'am could you tell me if there's any sign of a pulse?Me: There's no pulse just get someone here

I snapped to her. I felt bad but why's she asking questions I just need a medic ASAP.911 Operator: Ma'am help is on the way please remain calm, I understand it's traumatic but I am trying to assess the problem so when EMTs arrive they know what's going on. (EMT is Emergency Medical Technicians)

I took a deep breath.

Me: I'm sorry I just didn't expect this today.

The 911 operator asked me a few more questions about the state of my dad's body and within a few more minutes the EMTs Arrived along with the police. There were three EMTs and two police officers at my door.

I went downstairs to greet the medics and lead them back up the stairs to my father's bedroom and they took charge.

"Ma'am, I'm so sorry for your loss." The tallest of the three Medics said to me pulling the sheet over my dad's head.

" He's gone isn't he?" I said, " Can you tell me what caused it?" I asked.

"He suffered from a blood clot to his main artery and lost oxygen flow to his heart." He explained. "Was your father on any blood thinning medications?"

"None that I know of," I responded casually holding back all my tears.

"Ok thank you, Miss Hunter. I will be in touch with you after we send his body to the mortuary for an autopsy to be sure." He continued. "Within a few days or so we should have results for you.""Perfect, thank you," I swallowed hard.

After the EMTs left I balled my eyes out and my first call was to Rains who was there in an instant to comfort me. I had lost one of my best friends and my beloved father so unexpectedly.END OF FLASHBACK—-
