(Y/n) sat outside on the balcony, drawing the house that resided across the road. Her father had come home last night in a good mood; he didn't drink and only called her a bitch once. So in other words, she was also in a good mood. Her father hadn't cared that she didn't finish unpacking and offered to do his own room tonight because she'd been setting up everything else, even the garage.

"Hey!" A voice called up to the female. (Y/n) flinched at the sudden loud noise, making her drop her sketchbook. "Oop! I'll get that! You just come down here!"

The woman looked down to see a young woman wearing a blue dress and an orange neck scarf. (Y/n) smiled slightly, the girl reminding her of Fred from Scooby Doo. The girl down below caught her staring and (Y/n) blushed embarrassed before climbing down the side of the house to the girl.

"Woah. That was amazing! How'd you know you'd be able to do that?" The stranger asked (Y/n), sounding wowed. (Y/n) blinked, surprised at the sudden burst of energy the girl had produced and to something so small.

"O-oh... I uh just f-figured it'd be stable b-because my father had the outsides redone a-and such..." She replied, feeling nervous.

"Not much of a talker eh?" The girl asked with a chuckle. (Y/n) smiled and shrugged.

"It's not that... I'm just surprised. I-I mean it's not that difficult to do."

"It's still awesome. I wish I knew how to do that when I was younger, I could of used it to get away from my parents." She laughed. (Y/n) nodded and put her hands out expecting. The girl looked at her hands before laughing out an apology and returning the book. "So what's your name stranger?"

"(Y/n). (Y/n) (L/n)." She replied, hugging the sketchbook to her chest. The girl smiled and put her hand out, waiting for (Y/n)'s. (Y/n) hesitated but soon made contact with the stranger and shook her hand.

"I'm Daniella, but you can call me Dany. So you moved across from the Myer's house huh?" (Y/n) raised her brow in confusion. She looked between Daniella and the abandoned house across the street.

"The Myer's house...? B-but the real-estate agent told us that the house is abandoned?" (Y/n) questioned, confused and curious. Daniella shrugged but nodded.

"It is abandoned, but 15 years ago on Halloween, a kid named Michael Myers murdered his step dad, sister, and his sister's boyfriend. He was taken away to Smith's Grove Sanitarium where he still is today. His mother killed herself a little over a month later. No one wants to buy the place in fear of him returning." Daniella told (Y/n), her voice ominous like she was telling a ghost story. (Y/n) must've appeared frightened and uncomfortable because Daniella was quick to start laughing. "Don't fret over it though, he's probably never coming back. Wouldn't surprise me if he died in there."

(Y/n) slowly nodded and stared at the house across the street. A strong desire filled her body and an escape route filled her head. She knew that she might be able to convince her father, especially if the house is cheap, not to mention it's just across the street. (Y/n) smiled and turned her attention back to the girl who was now rambling about the teenagers who'll go there and drink or smoke.

"D-do you know who to contact if anyone would be interested in the house...?" (Y/n) asked, a twinge of hope in her voice. Daniella looked at her and raised a brow. She looked like she was pondering before she smirked.

"I don't currently know anything, buuuuuut I'll help you out if you go out for a drink with me!" Daniella purred to (Y/n). (Y/n) froze, she looked at her house then back to Daniella. Her father was getting back late tonight and she had to continue unpacking for their house.

"When? Because I have to be home tonight b-before my dad gets home to help him around the house and I don't know my schedule except for the fact I'm going to college and I have about a 2 hour waiting period between my classes Tuesday." (Y/n) rambled.

"We can do it then! I'm a little busy today to. I just wanted to get acquainted with you. Anyway, can I get your number?" Daniella asked. (Y/n) nodded and was handed her phone, she quickly typed in her number. "Thanks, I'll text you later. Nice meeting you!"

Daniella then left, leaving (Y/n) to her thoughts.

[ Dear Diary,

Today I met a neighbor. A girl who reminded me of Freddy from Scooby-Doo. She was quite nice and told me about the house across the street.

I will consider talking to my father about me moving into the house across the street. Of course it would take a while, due to the house being in terrible shape, but he might be ok with it. I'd be across the street and I'd still be able to take care of this house.

Maybe I'm just being too hopeful, but even living in that house wouldn't be as bad as living here. I've wanted to leave for years and I know that's what my mother would want me to do.

Before I end my day today, however, I have to continue unpacking, go to the store, make dinner, and spend time with my father. If I'm able, I'd like to go investigate the house across the street.

Hopefully I won't get beat tonight and like every Sunday night, I wish to pay respect to my mother.

I miss you, and I hope you're happy and safe now.

And to my father, I hope you'll be happy someday, and I hope that you'll let me go.

~ With all the love in my heart, (Y/n) ]
