Ch-9 To the Forest!- Part 1

Argenta's eyes widened in horror, and her cheeks became hot pink.

"WHAT?!" Argenta, Adam said at almost the same time while I just gritted my teeth and clenched my fists, trying to control myself from murdering Jax.

"Yeah, you heard me right," He said, looking at them and turning his gaze from my face for the first time since he announced the dare. He wanted to see if I reacted, so I decided I was not going to show it.

My outside was probably calm, but my inside was a crazy whirlwind. I was preparing myself for what I would have to witness in the forest.

"Where will we find a forest?" Adam asked.

Why is he so eager for this?!

"There's one behind the school," Yara said.

"Yeah, but it's restricted," Cleo added.

"Not to mention, it's beyond Invierna's fence," Brittney remarked.

"And hella dangerous!" Willia chimed in.

"Come on! Fences are meant to be crossed," Jax tried convincing them.

But all this while, Adam's face had been ghastly pale.

"Jax, you know about the sightings," Adam choked out. His voice was so feeble that if we hadn't been paying attention, we wouldn't have heard it.

"There haven't been any in years," Jax said.

"What sightings?" Argenta asked.

Jax and Adam just stared at each other, probably contemplating whether to tell us or not. After a few seconds of intense staring, Adam shook his head, and Jax sighed and said, "Nothing,"

"Well, it doesn't look nothing! I mean, look at Adam's face. He looks paler than a vampire," I said.

"I don't look paler than a vampire," He quickly objected.

"Sure, you don't, sweetie," Argenta said, placing her hand on his cheek.

"Ugh, PDA somewhere else. We don't need to see this," I spat harshly.

Shit!

I told you NOT to react, Lorcan Armstrong!

"What's got your panties in a twist," Jax sang, finally getting the reaction he wanted.

"Nothing, it's just way too gross,"

"I mean, Nick and Reyna just full-on made out, but this is what's gross?" Adam said.

"So you agree it was PDA?" I retorted.

"Awww, Lory? Are you jealous?" Jax asked innocently like the bastard didn't already know.

"No, why would I be?" I said through gritted teeth.

"So, you support me that we should go to the forest and complete the dare?"

"Of course," I smiled, well, I fake smiled. And let me tell you, my fake smiles are faker than those so-called "golden boys" who pretend to be good at fucking everything.

I can't believe I got myself into this...

~15 minutes later~

"Soo, how do we cross the fence?" Reyna asked.

Numerous heads turned to look at Cleo.

"No, no, no, no, don't look at me like that,"

"Come on, Cleo," Jax said.

"No way, I'm not doing this,"

"Please do it, Cleo," Adam whined.

What the hell is he so excited for?! Oh, right, he doesn't have to watch his crush kissing someone else.

"Even if he manages to disable the force field, we still need a chemical to make the passage translucent and hence, visible so we can walk through," Willia stated.

"Can someone please translate that to English?" Nicholas looked around.

"What kind of chemical?" Argenta asked.

"methionylthreonylthreonylglutaminylalanylprolylthreonylphenylalanylthreonylglutaminylprolylleucylglutaminylserylvalylvalylvalylleucylglutamylglycylserylthreonylalanylthreonylphenylalanylglutamylalanylhistidylisoleucylserylglycylphenylalanylprolylvalylprolylglutamylvalylseryltryptophylphenylalanylarginylaspartylglycylglutaminylvalylisoleucylserylthreo-"

"Forget what I said earlier; I need a translation for this. Oh, and subtitles too," Nicholas gaped in disbelief.

"WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?" Jackson basically yelled out.

"It was the chemical name of trensol,"

All heads turned to look at me.

"Don't even try," I said.

Why the hell do they think I will help them break a fence just to see Argenta making out with Adam.

Contrary to popular opinions, I'm not actually crazy!

"Please, Lory," Argenta pleaded.

"Why do you want to go there so much?" I asked, and then I closed my eyes, scared to hear her answer.

"I want to see what's out there," she replied, "Please do this, Lory, please?"

Oh, not the puppy eyes! I can't say no to that!

"Fine," I exhaled.

She's going to be the death of me, I swear.

"Thank you soo much, Lory," she said and held my hand and squeezed it gently, making electricity run through my body. From the corner of my eye, I could see that Jax whispered something in Adam's ear, and they both burst out into peals of laughter.

"Let's go to the chemistry lab!" I chuckled nervously in an attempt to hide the blush covering my cheeks from her touch.

A few snickers left their mouths, but they nodded and followed me anyway.

I was walking in silence, well, for a few seconds. Because then Nicholas skipped his way to me with a smile bigger than the andromeda galaxy.

"You know, if you were a cream, I could use you to make icing for a cake," He said.

Hold up...what?!

"What?"

"You're whipped!" He cackled.

Oh! That was actually clever. Not that I'll ever admit that to his face.

"But you're also pathetic. You're helping your crush just to watch her kiss pretty boy over there,"

"She's okay with it, and besides, it's just a dare,"

"So you can just watch her kiss someone else?"

"It's not like she's my property,"

"Truuuue, but aren't you worried that she'll fall for him after the kiss?"

Fuck! What if she does?!

"I don't care," I said nonchalantly, "Besides, it'll help me get over my stupid crush,"

"Oh, this is no stupid crush, Lory. Only a matter of time before you fall head over heels for her,"

"Okay, that's a bit too much. And Argenta doesn't even like me that way,"

"Ha! You, my boy, are the king of obliviousness. I am not letting Adam drown my ship!" He said as he started walking ahead of me, deep in thought.

Even though I had said I don't care if she kisses him, deep down, my blood was boiling.

Oh, how I want to punch Adam in the face!

No, Lory-can, LORCAN! Get rid of jealousy. It's an ugly emotion. Think of good things.

Ready? Go!

...Argenta

Her smile

Her eyes

Her laugh

Her voice

Her innocence

Her smartness

Her lip-

Okay, stop!

Snap out of it!

Dear, god! You cannot be trusted with your thoughts!

"We're here!" Brittney's voice echoed in the dark empty hallway.

"I'll go and get it," I said.

"I'll come with you," Reyna said.

As soon as we stepped in, I took in the sight of the beautiful lab in front of me. Oh, what a pleasure it would be to work here!

"Look for a vial named 'trensol'," I said, realising that I did not have time to have eye sex with a chemistry lab.

"Oh, hell no,"

"Huh?"

"I came here to look for something else," she replied, "You go on and look for your trenchcoat or whatever it was,"

"You know it's not tren-"

"I don't care," She just strutted off.

"Well, okay, then? I guess?"

About 5 minutes later, she emerged with a small test tube in her hands containing a pale yellow powder.

"What's that?"

"Nothing, did you find your tren-"

"-sol,"

"Yeah, so did you?"

"Nope. Oh, wait! There it is," I picked up a beaker from a slab with my handkerchief, careful not to leave any fingerprints.

I poured some of it into a container and placed the beaker in its original position.

"Okay, let's go," She said.

I nodded quickly and was about to start moving when I felt my right foot step on the laces of my left shoe.

We're going down!

"REYNA, CATCH THIS!" I yelled as I threw the container in the air.

I saw her hastily catch it as I fell down, and mutter something of which I could only make out 5 words, "How", "she", "attra", "you", and "beyon".

"Let's go," I said as I got up and dusted myself off.

A few minutes later, we were all standing in front of the fence.

"Cleo?" Argenta said.

"On it,"

We waited there while he typed away on his phone for about five minutes.

"I've done my job. Let's see what that chemical can do,"

I pulled out the container and sprayed trensol in front of us, where Willia said the fence could be.

It took a few seconds for the passage to become visible, but when it did, I think I speak on everyone's behalf when I say we were terrified.

The forest was nothing like what the fence showed.

The fence was transparent, or so we thought. It always showed a very green, lush forest outside it, but that was not true.

The real forest on the other side of the passage was terrifying.

It was dark and gloomy. It was so dense that we could probably not move unless we formed a line.

"Let's go," Brittney said.

Well, here goes nothing
