Ch-23 He Fucks up Royally

"You alive?" Nick said as he waved his hand in front of my face.

"Ye- yeah, I'm fine," I said and walked past him to get out of the gym.

"You've been acting like a zombie ever since Antonio talked to you," Nick said, standing in front of me, "What's up?"

"He showed me the truth. It was harsh, but it is the truth," I gulped. As much as I knew every word Antonio said was right, some part of me wanted it to not be.

The part of me that had fallen for a silly little annoying girl.

"You sound like a madman," Nick deadpanned, making a face.

"Maybe because I am mad," I laughed humourlessly.

Maybe you're overreacting, Lory.

But when I look back, I have brought nothing but bad luck to everyone I love.

Cup- Argenta will be better off without me.

I'll destroy my feelings for her.

It'll save us both.

"You wanna make a stop in your Cupcake's dorm?" Nick asked, and I looked up to see that we were standing in front of our building.

How long was I zoned out for?

"First of all, it's Argenta to you," I deadpanned, making him chuckle.

It's Argenta to you too now.

"A- and second, no,"

"Let's go- hold up, no?"

"No," I repeated.

"No??" He emphasised.

"No," I repeated yet again.

"Who are you, and what have you done to my Lorcan?" He exclaimed.

"I am Lorcan," I said and walked past him into the building.

"No, you're not," He shook his head as he caught up with me, "The Lory I know would never say no to meeting Argenta,"

Well, Lory's dead. It's Lorcan from now on.

"What is going on with you?" He asked.

"Nothing," I fake-smiled and entered my dorm.

After a few hours of me sitting around and sulking and Nick eating chips, we heard a knock on our door.

"Lory, can you please get that? I'm kinda busy," Nick said from his starfish position on his bed.

I nodded mindlessly and opened the door only to be met by Argenta.

I forcefully stopped the smile threatening to spread on my lips, and the flutter my heart erupted in as soon as I saw her.

"Look what I found!" She cheered, holding up her laptop.

"A laptop?" I wanted to laugh and say. But instead, I just nodded, keeping a straight face.

"I found this video of you and Nick falling on the floor on the first day," She laughed.

Oh, dear God, that sound!

"You what?" Nick sat up straight, his face red as a tomato.

"You heard me, Nicky," She chuckled.

"You know, I never really saw myself fall that day. Come here," He invited her in.

They sat on Nick's bed watching the video, so I grabbed my night suit and left to change.

"Lory?"

I stopped dead in my tracks.

How can her voice do that to me?!

"Hmm?" I hummed, not turning around.

"Don't you wanna watch it?"

"I don't care enough," I replied in a sickly sweet voice.

Lies.

With that, I walked into the washroom and waited till she was gone to come out.

"Hey!" Her voice came from Nick's bed.

"Didn't you leave?" I asked, bewildered. I was sure I heard the door close.

"That was Nick,"

"Oh,"

Well, shit.

This is going to be much harder than I thought.

"Can I ask you something?" She asked.

"Sure," I replied and sat on my bed.

"Why couldn't the pony sing a lullaby?" Count on her to say something heavy only to tell a joke.

I shrugged in response because I knew the moment I opened my mouth, I'd break.

"She was a little horse," She said and looked at me with her eyebrows raised and a wide open-mouthed smile, sort of thing she always did after telling a joke.

I wanted to smile, not because the joke was funny but because of how adorable she looked at that moment.

But I couldn't.

When I didn't show any emotion, she said a few more. By the fourth, I was certain that if I saw that cute thing she does again, I'd kiss her.

So I decided to say something that would make her stop.

"Can you go somewhere else and stop annoying me?" I spat, my throat burning with every word that came out of my mouth.

By the end of my sentence, I felt like I had swallowed fire while someone stomped on my heart.

Is it supposed to hurt this much?

Hurt and shock crossed her eyes, and then, just like that, it was gone.

"Well, sorry for trying to cheer you up," She said, her face devoid of any emotion, then got up and walked away.

Please stay.

With every step she took, I felt my chest getting heavier. I followed her with my eyes until she was at the door.

For a few minutes, all I could do was stare at the door she left from. Then Nick came in.

"How's your mood now?" He asked.

"Worse." I replied and lay down without even waiting for his reply.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It had been a few days since I said that to Argenta. We had been ignoring each other ever since. I did, occasionally, catch her looking at me. If I wasn't trying to forget her, I would've made a silly face and made her laugh, but since I was, I just looked away.
Antonio kept telling me that this was good for me, and I kept telling myself that too. But every so often, a doubt crept its way into my head.
'What if Antonio is wrong?'
'What if I'm not bad luck?'
'What if she's everything I need to turn the bad luck around?'
But I pushed the doubt away.
Antonio must be right. My past attests to it.
"Lory, wanna come to the dining hall with us or not?" Adam asked me, breaking my reverie.
"Yeah," I nodded, and we all started walking.
I guessed Nick told them about my sour mood the past few days because the guys organised a play day for me. In the morning, Jax and Adam knocked on our door and called Cleo a while later. Since then, we had just been sitting in my dorm. We found nothing worthwhile to do, so we decided to feed ourselves.
"So, what's really going on?" Jax asked me as he walked alongside me while the others were a few steps in front of us.
"I'm fine," I lied.
"Don't fuck with me, Lory," He warned, "Spill,"
"Promise you won't say anything; to anyone,"
He gasped, "You got Argenta pregnant?!"
"What?" I scrunched up my face in confusion, "No!"
"Then what is it?"
"I'm trying to forget about her,"
"Her?"
"Cup- Argenta,"
"I'm sorry, what??"
"I'm trying to forget Argenta,"
"Where are they?"
"Where are what?"
"The drugs you're on,"
"I'm not on drugs, Jax,"
"Ha, you think I'd believe that?!"
"Umm,"
"No, really, where are they? That shit must be good. We need to burn it,"
"I'm not on drugs, Jax," I repeated.
"Then why the fuck are you talking nonsense?"
"I'm not,"
"Yes, you are,"
"I want to forget Argenta. I have to,"
"And why is that?"
And then I told him everything that happened with Antonio.
"So, a stranger said you should forget a girl that you obviously love a lot, and you agreed?"
"Not exactly,"
"Oh really?"
"He's right. Argenta's a distraction, and I'm bad luck for my loved ones,"
"Are you for real?" He asked, disbelief evident on his face.
"If I was fictional, I'd already be her boyfriend," I chuckled a little to myself, remembering the countless times she talked to me about her new fictional boyfriend and how he's perfect.
How all boys should take notes from those dumbasses by reading those cheesy romance novels.
Well, those weren't her exact words. But in my defence, they stole my girl from me time and again. I didn't necessarily love them.
"You're thinking about her, aren't you?" Jax asked.
I nodded slightly and looked down.
"God, you're an idiot!"
By then, we had reached the dining hall.
We sat at a table close to the counters and got ourselves some snacks.
I finished with my cheese nuggets way too fast, so I reached out and grabbed one of Nick's.
"That's mine, you dumbass," He smacked me upside the head.
"Yes, knock some sense into him," Jax mumbled and dove into his corn on the cob.
"We can't sit and eat all day," Adam sighed.
"Watch me," I replied, stuffing my face with a pizza pocket, maintaining challenging eye contact with him.
"Smack him for me?" Cleo looked at Nick.
Nick smacked me again without even looking away from his food.
"Nepenthe is hosting a party," Adam continued, "Let's go there,"
"Really, Adam?" Cleo said, "I was backing you up, bro,"
"It'll be fun," Adam pleaded.
All of a sudden, Jackson's face lit up, and he looked at me with an evil look. The look that I had named "uh oh, what the fuck is he up to now?"
"Yea, it'll be fun, Lory," Jax said, stretching out every word, "Maybe you'll meet someone there who can take your mind off of things,"
You son of a -
"Him?" Cleo asked, shocked, pointing at me.
Jax just hummed and nodded with an evil smile on his face.
"I thought he liked aaaahh," Cleo's sentence turned into a scream when Adam pinched his side.
"You telling them?" Jax whispered and shot me a warning look.
"Yeah," I sighed.
Here goes nothing.
A/N:
I hate seeing him like this🥺🥺🥺
What do you think the others are gonna do once they know?
I LOVED the fictional boyfriends part btw.
Also, my bestie and I made these covers and I'm confused coz both of them look really cool to me.
Help me choose?
Comment a heart against the one you love the most.
And, that was it for this week.
See y'all next Friday!
Take care!<3
