"She Grew Up To Be Me"

The whirling of the plane engine was soothing for Miley, it’s loud raging sound was stopping her from thinking about all her worried and woe’s. But despite the noise Miley’s thoughts still refused to let her rest as they clashed about in her head and made her come to grips with the reality of what she’d done.

She’d run.

That was the only way to look at it.

Everything in her life was crumbling down on top of her, one brick stone wall at a time. From Disney, then Liam, then her parents, then Nick, next comes Joe, and now even Kevin and his baby?!

It was too much.

Too much for a sane normal person to absorb all in one full blow. The year 2014 was just starting and for Miley it already had hopes of being her most crappy year.

Any crappier then 2013?

Oh no, 2013 was a really bad year.

“Mommy, Mommy, look!” the high pitched squeal of a child reacted Miley. “It’s Hannah!”

Miley’s whole body cringed at the name.

“Who sweety?” Miley looked just in time to see a woman, probably just entering her early 30’s, look loving down at her little daughter.

The girl had bright yellow curls that were in adorable pigtails, she had two missing front teeth but one was fighting to grow back, threateningly breaking out of the surface of her gums. The mother smiled down at her child, obviously filled with love, wonder and admiration at the child she had. Then she looked up, bumped eyes with Miley, and her whole face when slack, her smile turning cold.

“No sweety, that isn’t Hannah” she still manages to smile down warmly at the girl.

“Dat is Hannah” the girl tried to pronounce, despite her missing teeth. “She just haz short hair is all” the girl defended.

Several other people began look at the girl and around themselves, wondering who the little girl was referring to as Hannah, and who ‘Hannah’ actually was.

“Precious, let’s not cause a scene” the mother tried to sooth her child.

“No!” the girl yelled grumpily, and charged towards Miley, whom had been looking onto the scene in horror.

The girl raced up the aisle and came standing infront of Miley.

“Your Hannah” the girl asked stubbornly, “Aren’t you?”

Miley wished for nothing more than to say she wasn’t, that Hannah was dead and would never come back. But as she looked into the little girls eyes, she saw something that touch Miley, and she refused to be the monster everyone believed her to be, she refused to crush the little girl’s spirit.

“S-sorry to disturb you” the mother had rushed forward to grab her child.

Miley looked up at the mom and saw everything she’d feared to see, disgust, shame, repulsion. The mother didn’t want her daughter anywhere near Miley, for fear she’d turn into a dirty, sex-crazed STD patient.

Didn’t they know it was all an act?

The Hannah before and the Miley last year weren’t really the true Miley Cyrus. They all weren’t who she was, who she really is, and deep down that’s Destiny.

The real Miley.

“Hey hold up” Miley said as the mom desperately tried to shuffle away her child, who was putting up a hell of a fight for someone so small.

The moms eyes flash with alarm at the sound of Miley’s voice, like she’d spit acid or something.

Miley gave the mom a smug smile, then look down the little girl with golden pigtail and stretched out her hand. The girl immediately broke free from her mother and charged Miley’s outstretched hand.

Miley picked up the little girl and sat her on her lap.

“Oh, your kinda heavy aren’t ya?” Miley played.

“Uhm, hmm” the girl nodded her head enthusiastically, “I’m gonna be 6 soon” the girl held up 3 fingers, and Miley laughed at the girl’s sheer cuteness and adorability.

“My, my, you’re a big girl” Miley praised her.

The mother fidgeted in the background, hopping from one foot to another. “W-we don’t want to trouble you Miss Cyrus”

“No trouble at all” Miley waves away the hand that tried again to take the child. Then she turns her attention back to the girl and flashes a brilliant smile.

“So…what’s your name?” Miley says sweetly. She discreetly noticed that most of the adults on the plane were looking at them, recognizing Miley as the ‘Hannah’ the girl referred to. They all watched her keenly, sympathizing with the mom for being in such a situation. They made it seem like Miley was a Slasher and she’d slit her daughters throat at any minute. That having one’s child swoon over her was the worst thing to happen on earth!

Next time I not only pay for first-class, I ride in the God damn cockpit!

“Addison!” the girl squeals in delight for being asked a question she knew. “But my friends, mommy and daddy call me Addi”

“Well, Addi, I am so happy I met you” Miley really was. Then Miley became serious, “Addi? You asked me a question before” Miley said calmly.

“Yeah I did!” Addison said happily, “I asked if you were Hannah! Which you are! You just cut your hair” she finishes in a bubbly voice.

“That I did,” Miley grin sadly.

Addison was going crazy wild on Miley’s lap, and Miley noticed a boy, probably 14, holding up his phone recording the moment. Miley wouldn’t have been surprised if he was live streaming it to YouTube if not that they were on a plane.

“But Addi-” Miley caught the girls attention again, “There’s something I have to tell you, about Hannah”

Addison instantly stopped playing around and sat still on Miley’s lap.

“What about her? Isn’t she you?” the girl inquired.

Damn! She’s a smart one.

“She is me…or was me. I just…-have to tell you the truth about her” Miley felt sad, was she really about to crush a 6 year old? Or was she helping the little girl so once she grew up she wouldn’t join the millions that hated Miley already?

All of a sudden an even littler boy walked up besides Miley’s seat, dragging a teddy bear. “Wha‘ ’appen to Hannah?” he asked with wide big eyes.

Oh my God

Miley couldn’t do this, she just couldn’t. It was just too inhuman!

Miley gulped as everyone in the whole first class trained their eyes on her. What could she say?

She looked back down at the two kids who saw her as some kind of Fairy Goddess, Miley couldn’t lie to herself, she’d honestly missed people (and kids!) looking at her that way. There must be a way to keep that look in their eyes, in everyone’s eyes…without being a monster.

“W-well, she-” Miley cough to get the strength back in her voice, “She grew up” Miley said loudly, clearly, and honestly. She said it not just for the kids but for all the adults that were with them, everyone else in first-class, the plane, and the whole world for that matter.

“Hannah Montana grew up,” Miley said again, with a shadow of a smile. Then she bends down and whispered to Addison in a voice still audible to everyone else, “Do you know who she grew up to be?”

Addison shook her head vigorously, “No, who?” she asked excitedly, jumping and bouncing on Miley’s lap. The atmosphere in the plane had changed from cold and unwelcoming to something else, Miley couldn’t figure out what it was, but all she knew was that it was better. Far better.

“She grew up to be Miley Ray Cyrus” Miley said proudly, “….She grew up to be me…”
