Breakfast With Olivia
“Hey babe” Nick sat at the breakfast bar, absently chewing on his cereal.
Olivia walks into the kitchen in the sexiest pair of shorts and crop top, if Nick hadn’t been in such a downcast foul mood he’d have had to go get a really cold shower. Even the absolute hotness of Olivia couldn’t break through the cold barrier Nick had set up around his heart.
He took another spoon full of cereal and chewed it, imagining every grain was his brother’s head.
“Hi sweety” Olivia struts over and leans down to kiss him.
Nick slightly tilts his head to the side so Olivia could plant a soft kiss on his lips.
“How are you feeling today?” Olivia asked tentatively.
It was evident that she’d picked up on her boyfriend’s mood, she was incredibly patient and ultimately understanding, Nick wanted to feel like crap but he just couldn’t stop his head from thinking; Joe and Miley, Miley and Joe, Cyrus-Jonas, Jonas-Cyrus.
Urgh! If Nick had a bat he would’ve broken a hell of a lotta stuff.
“I good,” Nick replied warily. “I-I mean, I’m good”
Waw, am I really this distracted. Nick decided he needed to get his act together, if not for himself then for his super awesome girlfriend who, right about now, looked extra tasty.
“No you’re not” she picks up a napkin on the counter and walks over to wipe a stain off Nick’s chin. “But I know what will” she sang.
“Some early morning rough housing?” Nick’s mood was already brightening.
“No!” Olivia stressed very clearly, she was still sour from the last time they went to bed when Nick had practically hauled her off to bed in front of his brothers. It was so embarrassing. “We’re going to meet up with a couple of friends for coffee.”
“Oh no, Oliv hun, I’m just not in the mood for-”
She came over and kissed Nick so intensely he momentarily forgot his name.
“Who’s meeting what now?” he stuttered.
“A friend of mine called to invite me and you to grab coffee with a couple other friends…like a quadruple date” Olivia smiled.
“So that’s like 8 people?” Nick’s voice was laced with worry, he wasn’t good with a large crowd of people. Not that he didn’t play well with others, he just wasn’t very social.
Olivia took a spoon and join Nick in eating his cereal. Nick grinned at her, she was cute that way. Sometimes sharing breakfast with Nick was the little ways she showed she didn’t have limits and she was comfortable with them being intimate and together.
The kitchen’s sliding doors were open and fresh air and sunlight filled the room, the mood had changed to light and airy and funny. Everything in the kitchen shun and shimmered, and Olivia looked like and Angel that had literally dropped from heaven and brought all the essence and aura of heaven with her.
At times like this Nick was amazed how an amazing girl like her was with an introvert like him, she was beautiful, open, friendly and nice. Everything Nick should want in a girl…everything he did want…
Nick reached up his hand and claps it down on Olivia free hand on the table surface. She didn’t notice, too busy eating his food.
He tilts his head down and peered into her face.
“I love you” he says it gently.
Olivia didn’t look up, but the smile that spread on her face from ear to ear told him loud and clear that she’d heard him.
She flipped her head up and sprayed her hair across her shoulder, framing her face in a tumble of gorgeous hair. Her eye looking right into his soul, which scared him because he had some things he didn’t want her to see.
Her smile said everything, she didn’t have to say ‘I Love You’ back. Her face radiated the emotion in ways words could never express.
“I think I’m up for that early morning rough housing” she says cockily.
Nick laughed.
“I think I’ll take a rain check-”
“Oh thank God!” Olivia breathed out.
“-until after this coffee-date-get together thingy”
Olivia face held a comical sad face, “Darn it.”
He laughed again, he would never get enough of this girl.
He lifted his spoon to take another bite of cereal but he just couldn’t eat, all too suddenly he thought of Miley and how he’d lead her on. It was horrible of him but he honestly forgot about Olivia at that time, and could only think of Miley and a future they could have together. He’d been willing to think about giving her-them, ourselves?...each other, a second chance.
But now, here, being with Olivia. He remembered everything he wanted in a girl, everything that the ‘Miley Cyrus’ now could never give him.
You haven’t even hung out with her long enough to know what she can or can’t give, the unwanted thought ran through his head.
He tried to shake it off, “So who are we hanging with?”
He decided to take one last bite of cereal.
“Emily, Mitch, Kevin, Joe, Dani, and Miley” she says, “I’m sure you can guess the last names”
He choked.
He pushed himself from the table and runs over to the sink to get a glass of water.
“Excuse what?...who!?” Nick eyes water from his near death experience.
“Your brothers, Emily, Mitch and Miley-” Olivia repeated but Nick cut her off.
“I get that…but why?” Nick couldn’t explain why but he was starting to get pissed. This couldn’t have just been a coincidence, he thought.
“It was Miley’s idea” Olivia said. “Something about hanging out with old friends”
Nick felt like he’d explode like Trina Riffin from Grojband…it’s a cartoon he found himself watching from time to time, don’t judge.
Friend! She called him an old friend!? He was once her boyfriend! Or had she forgotten that? And for her to just cluster him up and organize him like that, it pinched his skin like salt on an open wound.
“Old friends you say?” Nick tried to sound nonchalant as he walked back to the table to try and eat, but he just spilled back the content of his spoon back into the bowl.
“It’s actually a funny story, Miley told Joe to tell you about it. But he didn’t want to send off the wrong vibes because you and Miley once dated, so he told Miley who asked Emily who invited me and Mitch” she said that all in one breath.
“I hate girl talk” Nick mumbled.
Olivia kissed him on the cheek, “What’s important is that we go, we’re meeting up around late afternoon”
“Today!?” Nick asked. He felt like he’d choke on his own spit next.
“Of course, when did you think?” she looked at him with laughter in her eyes.
“Nothing…” Nick had a thought. “Joe’s gonna be there right?”
“Uhm hmm” she made a cute sound.
“Perfect” Nick took the whole bowl with him and dumped it in the sink.
“Hey! I wasn’t done with that!” Olivia complained.
Nick hid his evil smile as he took out his phone and dialed a number. The perfect setting for the perfect revenge.
Joseph Adam Jonas, “Joe” was about to get a taste of his own medicine.
