Epilogue
*2 years later*
Yeonjun watched as Soobin stirs in his sleep.
He's been awake for like, half an hour now but the other male looks so peacefully deep in his slumber that he can't find the heart to wake the sleeping male up. Yeonjun shifts a little and moves his body to the side, fixing his position so that he could have a better view of Soobin's serene state. He tucked his arm below his head and stared closely to what seems to be a really interesting sight in front of him.
Dreamily, the corners of Yeonjun's lips curled upwards from witnessing the small twitch in Soobin's eyebrows before returning back into its calm demeanor. His face is pressed right onto the pillow causing his cheek to appear puffier and his lips to form a slight pout and the brunette couldn't help but to find him adorable.
Soobin's eyebrows furrowed again and a low groan escapes his throat and only then did Yeonjun realize the reason why. He quietly giggled, raising his other hand up to shield the younger's face from the morning sunrays peaking from the uncovered part of the window.
However, although the action helped block the lights, Soobin was already disturbed and frowning. He opened one of his eyes a little bit and saw Yeonjun softly smiling down at him and closed it again, only to move over and hold the other close. Of course, Yeonjun is more than willing to welcome his lover's approach and removed his arm from under his head to envelope Soobin in an embrace.
The movement caused the covers to fall down of them a bit, revealing both of their bare torsos as Soobin nuzzled his head on the crook of Yeonjun's neck, still refusing to wake up and leave the comfort of the bed. A pleased sigh then left the older's lips when he felt Soobin placed down a gentle peck on his shoulder.
"Good morning," the male muttered against his skin, voice still deep and husky.
"Good morning." Yeonjun replied, fingers running soothingly through Soobin's unruly morning hair, making the latter breathe out in delight.
A comfortable silence washed over the two as they just lay they in each other's arm, feeling contented and satisfied. As if everything's alright and they already have everything they could ever ask for.
But then Yeonjun's brows furrowed and he felt this tiny unsettling feeling that they're forgetting something he couldn't quite put his finger on. He thinks again, trying hard to remember anything that could be really important to make him feel like this.
On the other hand, no matter how much he tried raking his brain, he still couldn't figure it out, causing him to grow a little exasperated which then results to him stopping his fingers from running through the other male's hair, thus enters Soobin's quiet complaints.
"Sorry," Yeonjun mumbled, continuing his actions.
Soobin might've caught the slight troubled tone on his word though, since he just turned his head up to look at Yeonjun. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing—" the brunette assured.
Soobin raised his brow.
"It's just—I feel like, we're forgetting something? I don't know. Something's bothering me and I don't know what it is—"
The sudden abrupt ringing of his phone jolted the two of them apart, clearly, neither was expecting the device to just go off out of nowhere. Yeonjun sent an apologetic look before grabbing his phone out of the bedside table.
He frowned upon seeing the caller id, "Huh? Why would Taehyungie hyung call me this early?"
"Why don't you answer it to find out?"
Yeonjun glared at Soobin because of his witty response, "Shut up."
Soobin just shrugged.
"Hel—" Before Yeonjun could even utter a greeting, the voice from the other end of the line started yelling at him. He pulled the phone away from his ear as Soobin watched him in silence, curiosity blooming on his features.
"Keep your voice down, will you?... Yeah, I kno—wait, what!? It's today!? What the fuck!? Oh no—shit... we're coming... ye—stop yelling at me! Okay I'm sorry! God... I'm hanging up!"
Amusement danced in Soobin's face as he observed Yeonjun's facial expression change faster than the speed of light and then grew even more curious when the said male appears to be in panic all of a sudden after hanging up the call. He raised his brow questioningly when Yeonjun frantically tried to get up off bed.
"Fuck! Fuck! We're late! So we really are forgetting something! Oh god, Soobin get up!"
"What got you in such hurry?"
Yeonjun widened his eyes on Soobin as a threat, yanking the covers off of him only to get stop by the ravenette. "Let me go—"
"Not until you tell me why."
"Jesus Christ—Soobin! The wedding—The wedding is today!"
"Oh." Soobin mumbled. A second then passed and his eyes flew like saucers in realization and let go of his hold on Yeonjun's arm. "OH!"
"I can't believe we forgot." Yeonjun frantically gets up only to wince in discomfort and fall back down again on the bed. "Ow! My ass fucking hurts!" He sent a glare on Soobin's direction who is now standing in front of him wearing only a pair of boxers. If it's one of their ordinary days, Yeonjun would've drooled at the sight but no—they're in a hurry now and he's annoyed and they're fucking late.
"What are you doing just standing there? Carry me! It's your fault anyways." Yeonjun demanded with his arms up, huffing and looking threateningly cute like a baby.
Soobin isn't even fazed anymore and just complied and pick him up bridal style. "You told me to go harder." The male stated as a matter of fact, causing Yeonjun to glare up at him again and slap his bare chest.
"If I had known the wedding is today, I wouldn't have let you fuck me like that. How am I gonna walk down the aisle? Limping?"
"In case you forgot, it was you who asked to meet up in the middle of the night and go out of town."
"And what's your point?"
Soobin rolled his eyes, "If you didn't, then we wouldn't be seeing each other. Hence, the whole thing will only be happening tonight and you won't have to worry about walking."
"So you were really planning on not making me walk afterwards?"
"No—I was planning on fucking you real hard you can't speak anymore because you lost your voice from all the screamin—"
"Oh my god!" Yeonjun slapped Soobin's chest again, hiding his embarrassed flushed face behind his other hand. "How could you say that so casually? I swear to Namjoon hyung's kaws collection—"
"What? You asked."
"You're unbelievable. I can't believe I'm marrying you today." Yeonjun shakes his head, "speaking of that, hurry up and get on the showers already—and no, stop giving me that look, we're ONLY showering. We're running late."
"But if we aren't, will you agree—"
"Soobin!"
"Okay! Okay! I'm kidding, jeez."
___
It was a wonder how the two managed to show up despite being tons of miles away from the planned venue. Although they did come for about almost an hour late for the preparation, somehow, the stylists and staffs still made it work and now got them ready before the beginning of the ceremony.
To say that the couple didn't receive a shit ton of nagging would be a blatant lie because they did, and oh did they deserve it.
The first one who did so was of course, Taehyung, having been the one who reminded them what today is supposed to be about and yelled at Yeonjun for forgetting because what kind of person forgets their own wedding? And then the scolding doubled the moment they arrived because they were fucking late and Taehyung was under so much stress that he questioned why he agreed to arrange this shit.
And then when they finally got inside the studio and sadly had to be in separate rooms, Yeonjun widened his eyes at the realization that he would have to change off his clothing which could only mean that the people inside that room with him would have to see the very much prominent marks on his neck (and collarbones... and shoulders). He internally cursed and questioned their actions as to why did they have to go hard last night. He made a mental note to scold Soobin later.
Thankfully, his make-up artist and stylists didn't comment on that and understood his silent plead of covering them up because who on their right mind would walk down the aisle in front of their families and friends and guests sporting a thousand hickeys on? Certainly not Yeonjun.
On the other hand, Soobin's place wasn't any better either, because it seemed that he wasn't the only one who was wilding last night since he's pretty much covered in scratches and love bites too. And to make things more difficult for him, Soobin also had to endure the awkwardness when his father went to talk with him and saw him, his son, littered with marks that couldn't be excused as his allergies.
Anyway, after those few hours of unreal embarrassment, the time has finally come.
And there Soobin is, standing in front of the altar, dressed in all white with the exception of his black bow tie and leather shoes, being the center of attention of the silent crowd, nervous as fuck.
He could feel his heart raging inside his chest, his palms sweating waterfalls that he keeps on subtly wiping on his trousers. He doesn't even know why he's currently in this nerve-wracking condition but god, he is sure that he has never been this nervous before in his entire life. There's literally ringing inside his ears, echoing so loud that it's the only thing he could hear along with the thumping on his chest. Maybe that's why our ribs are known as cages because hearts could really be as wild as an untamed animal.
Soobin let his eyes wander around the room, examining the people in their spots waiting for this glorious event to unfold. He admires the decorations presented he wasn't able to appreciate the time he entered and is admittedly in awe how everything is perfectly on their places. The lights, the variation of flowers, the golden ribbons, the chairs the guests were in, everything. Soobin inspects each and every single one of them to divert his attention away from his rushing nerves.
Then as if on cue, his eyes darted towards the large wooden doors across him when it slowly bursts wide open.
Soobin's entire world stops. His breath got taken away. And for a split second he thought he might actually pass out.
They said, you'd know you're in love when butterflies fly around your stomach the moment your eyes laid on the person. So what does it mean? Because right now, Soobin isn't feeling ain't no butterflies—he could feel the entirety of the galaxy inside his being with its planets and stars and moons and whatever heavenly bodies are up there. He could feel them all inside. They are there, moving and circulating around him or maybe he is the galaxy and Yeonjun is the center of it all.
Does that even make sense?
He doesn't know and he can't be bothered knowing because at this moment, at this very moment, all that matters is Yeonjun's gaze meeting his own as he walks down the aisle in the arms of his parents.
Towards him.
Soobin felt himself tearing up—wondering how on earth he got so lucky and thank the heavens above for getting him drunk in the same bar as Yeonjun was. It was astounding—how they met. But Soobin wouldn't want it any other way.
A couple more minutes passed and Yeonjun's finally there, in front of him, and before Soobin could take his hand, he received a gentle pat on his back by Yeonjun's father and a hug from his mother. Yeonjun watched their exchange with an endeared look on his face and his grin only grew bigger the instant Soobin finally turned to stare at him up close.
And boy, Soobin almost shields his eyes from the blinding beauty Yeonjun exudes.
"I know, I'm gorgeous." Yeonjun playfully whispered when he noticed Soobin's stuck gaze on him.
"You are." The taller answered, making Yeonjun beam at him and hold his hand tighter.
And just like that, they were lost.
Forgot they're in the middle of their own wedding ceremony as they got too absorbed in the details of each other's eyes and just stayed rooted in their place. The thought of taking another step forward towards the priest left their minds and they were smiling, conversing silently and letting their sync heartbeats speak for themselves.
Until the priest cleared his throat and get their attention.
"Right, sorry."
Their friends were watching this action from their seats and had to refrain themselves from face-palming.
Their families weren't even surprised anymore.
The other guests were just sitting there, wondering what on earth was happening.
___
"Who are those people?"
"Why are you asking me? I don't even know most of the guests."
Soobin and Yeonjun were whispering in their seats, watching these people interact with each other in their reception since the wedding ceremony ended a while ago.
They're starting to get bored to death.
Someone would think they'll actually be enjoying themselves since this party is for their marriage but this kind of gathering just isn't their thing.
They could've tolerated it better if the party is held at home, with just their close friends and families but no—other people they barely even knew and they couldn't give two shits about are also present, acting as if they actually care about the wedding when the real agenda is to mingle with other business people.
The two didn't let that ruin their mood. They really tried to entertain themselves after eating and participated with the program. Heck, they even went to converse with those people but it's just really draining having to pretend you like someone, you know? Especially when they're not even playing it lowkey and just showing off how fake they are.
Yeonjun sighed and rested his chin on Soobin's shoulder which caused the male to turn his head to him.
"Binnie," the brunette pouted, eyes looking up at Soobin with the glint the younger has grown very used to, to know that the other wants something when he's pulling that look.
He hums, hand rising to ruffle Yeonjun's hair.
"I'm bored." Soobin noticed his husband's pout intensifies along with the puff on his cheek when he pressed himself even further on his shoulder.
"Just a few more hours."
"But that's too long!" Yeonjun childishly whined. He grabbed Soobin's arm away from his hair and squeezed, pulling on it as if doing so would do something to decrease the time they have to wait for.
"Quit it, someone's approaching." And right after Soobin said that, a man dressed in formal clothing showed up on their table with another taller man behind him. "Jimin hyung!" he greeted, quickly putting on a welcoming smile.
Yeonjun couldn't even be bothered doing the same.
"Congratulations guys!" Jimin said with his adorable smile which makes his eyes disappear, but nothing that could beat his husband's smile, in Soobin's opinion.
Biased bitch.
"Congratulations," the other man mumbled, hand reaching out and fingers making contact with Yeonjun's forehead who's still sulking on Soobin's shoulder.
The action caused Yeonjun to bring his head up and furrow his brow to emphasize his offended state, "Ow! Jungkook hyung!"
The said man only laughed before putting his arm around Jimin's waist.
"Binnie my forehead hurts," Yeonjun mustered a pitiful expression on and hold his husband's hand on his to bring it up to his poor reddening forehead.
"It'll go away." Soobin deadpanned.
"Wow, I want a divorce." Yeonjun looked betrayed.
"Junnie hyung! Soobinnie hyung!"
The four males' attention was then shifted to the tall boy approaching their table with a wide smile plastered on; two other guys tailing behind him.
"Hyuka!"
As if he wasn't just complaining earlier, Yeonjun stood up from his seat and hugged the male. Thanking him and squishing his cheeks after he just congratulated them.
"I see the favoritism jumped out." Beomgyu muttered with disdain.
Taehyun rolled his eyes. "Accept it Beom, no one favors you."
"I'm breaking up with you."
"Not if I break up with you first."
"Stop it, you two." Soobin scolded, also standing up from his seat to greet their bickering friends.
Seriously, how does Kai manage these two?
Oh right, because he also shares the same brain cells with them.
Someone cleared their throat which then caused the others to look at him.
"We'll get going then, Taehyung's still probably crying because his baby brother's slipping out of his grip for real." Jimin stated, the smile never leaving his face for even a second.
"I don't get him, honestly. I mean, you guys have been married for years?" Jungkook said.
"Yet you two still date him." Yeonjun retorted back, hands still playing with Kai's cheeks.
"Touché."
"Anyways, we'll go get Taehyung now. Congratulations again love birds!" Jimin waved them goodbye and drag Jungkook along with him.
"You know, I was starting to think the three of you didn't show up." Yeonjun was the one to say it after a minute of watching the two couple disappear into the crowd.
"Are you insane?" Taehyun gave him a look, "We're literally the first to get here, the first."
"I can confirm. We even arrived earlier than your family." Beomgyu nodded his head.
Listening to this, Kai began wrapping his arms around his Junnie hyung to rub his belly and revealed what really happened. "That's because they thought the wedding is yesterday! Thankfully you decided to marry in a resort so we just checked in and enjoyed ourselves until the actual day."
Soobin frowned at this, seemingly the only one who caught a little flaw on his statement. "They thought it was yesterday and you didn't stop them?"
"It was kinda fun watching them embarrass themselves barging in into someone else's wedding." The youngest of the group shrugged, an innocent smile on his face although what he just said utterly alters his appearance.
"I fucking knew it! You evil—"
"And you have the audacity to act lost that time—"
"That's it," Beomgyu muttered, turning on his other boyfriend to get him away from where Kai is. "Taehyunnie, no more cuddles for Hyuka."
"No! Not my cuddles!"
"Serves you right." Taehyun sassed, clinging onto Beomgyu's side as if they weren't about to rip each other's throat just a few minutes ago.
However, as the three engaged in their own personal banter, they failed to notice the discreet exchange of knowing look between the two males and only realized they were alone once it's too late.
"Hold on— where did the YeonBin couple go?"
As the words left Hyuka's mouth, the three began looking around in hopes to find the other two just being their usual disgustingly cute self but found no couple attached to the hip in sight.
"Did they just ditch their own wedding party?" Taehyun asked in disbelief, amusement filling in his facial expression.
___
Meanwhile, the missing couple was sitting on the front seat of Soobin's car, huge grins of mischief decorating both of their faces.
"Finally I can breathe." Yeonjun exaggeratedly breathes out, letting himself fall down on his seat.
He's so tired. He just wants to leave already and have their own kind of fun—which includes only the two of them and none of the huge crowd of people whose names they can't even pronounce.
Soobin drives with one hand as he reaches his other hand to grab Yeonjun's who's very much glad to hold back. A fond smile on his face as he looks down on their interlocked hands.
After all these years and it still make him feel like the first time.
"Where are we even going?" The brunette asked, shifting his gaze away from their hands and onto Soobin's side profile.
"Home."
"Which one?"
"Ours."
Yeonjun furrowed his brow in thought, "You mean that house?"
With Soobin's hand gently squeezing his, Yeonjun got his answer and he squealed. "Oh my god I miss that house so much! Hurry up! Hurry! Hurry!"
"For being the one who suggested moving out until we had our official wedding, you seem rather enthusiastic than I thought you'd be."
"Well I didn't expect the wedding to be dragged out this long, okay?" Yeonjun rolled his eyes, "I thought we would have it a couple months after your proposal."
Soobin chuckled at this, "Still couldn't believe you doubted me that night though," they took a turn and Soobin spare Yeonjun a quick glance. "Like seriously? I literally have my future planned out with you and you thought I wanted to break up?"
"I was surprised! I couldn't think straight, alright? And don't remind me please—I was even crying so much and accused you for nothing, I was so embarrassed." Yeonjun flushed, using his other hand to cover his face which made Soobin laugh on his seat.
"Don't laugh. That was you and your stupid plan's fault."
"But my stupid plan and I still got your 'yes' and 'I do' in the end so," Soobin shrugged and sent Yeonjun a playful wink who just shakes his head at his dork of a husband with a smile he couldn't hold back.
And right then and there, with Soobin looking at the road as Yeonjun takes all the time in the world to look at him, their hands intertwined and hearts floating in gleeful mirth of contentment, Yeonjun realized something.
He realized that the best kind of love is unexpected. You don't get to choose someone and hope that everything will work out between you two; it's more than just that—different even. You'll meet at the most unexpected place and time, sometimes at a bar, in the middle of the night, after your heart's been shattered without knowing that it'll be healed and will be whole again afterwards.
You'll meet by coincidence or fate if you believe in that kind of thing, and notice the instant connection between the both you. You might think it's crazy and impossible at first but then you just indulge yourself in the way they talk and how the corners of their mouth curl up when they smile and you're able to distinguish how different the color of their eyes is compared to anyone else and with that you'd know whether you're lucky or doomed.
And Yeonjun is well aware of how damn lucky he is to be able to trust that Soobin will always be there for him for all the right reasons because he cares and loves him enough to be there. Beside him. With his hand on his. For the rest of their lives.
"Soobin?" Yeonjun softly called out, a loving smile and fond affection dancing on his eyes.
"Hmm?" Soobin hums in response, eyes still glued on the road but Yeonjun doesn't mind. He's still holding his hand anyway and he doesn't have any plan on letting go.
"Thank you for unexpectedly coming into my life and letting me be one of the lucky ones."
Soobin who wasn't expecting that but still appreciated every words, let his eyes leave the road for a moment and stare back right into Yeonjun's eyes that were already focused into him. He smiled. It isn't the widest one and not even a single glimpse of his teeth is showing but Yeonjun felt how genuine it is and it went straight to the deepest part of his heart.
And then when Soobin's eyes fixated back on the road, Yeonjun watched as Soobin raised their interlocked hands and brought it close to his lips as he pressed a long loving kiss down on the back of Yeonjun's hand and the latter giggled at this action before he went to cup Soobin's cheek and caress it softly with his thumb.
Soobin holds his fingers again that was on his cheek and kissed them again, "I love you," he whispered in a quiet tone but it was enough to speak volumes to both their souls.
"I love you." Yeonjun replied back and let his hand fall back down again to hold Soobin's own.
The best kind of love is unexpected.
You just have to embrace it real tight when it finally happens.
And never, ever, let go.
