Neither Yeonjun nor Soobin of a year ago would have believed if you tell them that they would meet a random stranger at a bar and that stranger would mean so much to them.
They would've probably just laugh at your face and tell you that you're being ridiculous and would tumble over with laughter after you tell them that they'd end up married at the very same night they met.
No, they wouldn't have believed any of that.
And yet, here they are now, exactly a year after, in a yacht (the one Yeonjun gifted Soobin with), under the starry night sky where the cold breeze blows, the city lights reflecting perfectly in the still water standing as their witness as they laugh with each other over the memories of the past twelve months.
It is today, from a year ago, when their story started.
Who would've thought that a single silly incident would bring this much treasure?
And no, not one of them would want to change anything that had happened. They wouldn't trade this thing for anything else. Because, although the memory of that night is still blurry and they couldn't really remember it well, it was their beginning. No matter how stupid, reckless and drunk it was-it was theirs.
And god, they don't want this to end.
Soobin watches with a smile on his face as Yeonjun covers his face from laughing so hard, he's practically about to fall out of his chair. They're currently seated at the sole where a fancy table was set and they took seats across each other.
The two had just finished eating their dinner and were now taking their time with the dessert and champagne while talking about nothing and everything and just a few seconds ago, Soobin said something that wasn't really that funny but Yeonjun still laughed anyway.
The yacht continues to move and the wind blew again, causing Yeonjun's hair to sway along with it, his forehead peeking into view while he calms down from laughing with a soft giggle and Soobin might have to collect himself first.
Damn. Just how is it possible that someone as ethereal as this person right here exists? And just how lucky Soobin is to call this man his? It's still unbelievable and he still has to check if it's real sometimes because fuck, Yeonjun is just so beautiful how is it fair?
Soobin didn't notice but his playful grin has now vanishes and he's just staring, as if in a deep trance that couldn't be interrupted. His gaze remains stuck on Yeonjun, absorbing every little detail like he doesn't have them memorized already. He feels enthralled watching the male's face got hit by the moonlight, causing him to glow even brighter than he already does. His eyes shining with glimmer that Soobin still wonders how someone could hold the stars inside their eyes like that, his sweet laughter that flows like a soothing melody inside Soobin's ears, his cheekbones that become more prominent each time he smiles and the way his plump lips curl up addictively every single time something caused him to grin.
Those small, little details that meant so much to him; they never fail to make Soobin lose his mind.
If it wasn't because of Yeonjun calling him shyly with a noticeable tint of pink on his face, Soobin would continue his shameless stare.
"Binnie,"
"Hmm?" Soobin responds, blinking as he tried to compose himself and recall what was happening before he zoned out.
"You're doing it again." The brunette bashfully said, looking down as he pulls the black leather jacket that Soobin put on him earlier closer to his body.
"What did I do?"
"That." Soobin raised his brow in question when Yeonjun spared him a glance with a pout and blush, seemingly embarrassed. "You're giving me that look again." Yeonjun added as he bit his lower lip.
___
It was a fine Sunday morning and the two were feeling quite productive that they decided to help each other out and organize their room. It was originally Soobin's but Yeonjun made it clear that he didn't have any plan on going back to his any day, claiming that Soobin's bed is 'way more comfortable' and that settled the matter.
Almost all of Yeonjun's necessities were already there anyway so it couldn't really be helped.
In three hours, the two had replaced the bed covers, pillow cases, argued about which curtain to use, decided to use the new ones, vacuumed the floor, accidentally knocked some folders off the study table, scold each other, unintentionally made out and complained about the other being distracting.
Nonetheless, although some of the actions were completely unnecessary, they still managed to complete their task anyway so whatever.
And now, there they were, in Yeonjun's former room, with Soobin lazily standing behind his husband who was picking some of his other clothes to move into Soobin's walk-in closet as if there weren't enough of his clothes there already.
Plus, it's not like he'd use them, Yeonjun loves wearing Soobin's clothes so the younger male couldn't really see the point of why Yeonjun still has to move his clothes to their room.
"Babe," Soobin called out. "Isn't this enough?"
Once the words fell out of Soobin's mouth, an adorable harsh glare was then sent his way. Yeonjun turned his head towards him, halting his search in the middle of his clothing rack.
"What do you mean enough? Those are just my comfy clothes!" Yeonjun stated, pointing at the pile of apparel on Soobin's arms who looked like his limbs were about to fall.
"But I thought my clothes are your comfy clothes?"
"Yeah, but-" The brunette pouted, "those are my favorites."
And of course, how could Soobin say no to that? He just couldn't. And he's well aware of that so he just sighed and rolled his eyes playfully.
"Fine. Just hurry up, my arms can't take it anymore."
...
After what felt like years, but really, it was just half an hour, Yeonjun finally finished and Soobin couldn't be gladder. Heck, it was like, they went shopping when they didn't even leave the house.
However, just when he thought they were done for the day and he would get his well-deserved rest and cuddles at last, Yeonjun just had to say that they still got to arrange his clothes inside the walk-in closet, causing Soobin to groan internally.
But perhaps, his face couldn't hide what he felt inside that well because Yeonjun faced him with a questioning look when they reached the wardrobe. "What's with that sour face, hmm?"
Soobin quickly fixed his expression, "What do you mean?" he asked with a sweet fake smile that Yeonjun could read past through.
The brunette rolled his eyes before walking close towards the taller male with a soft smile and reached forward to pinch Soobin's cheeks. "We're almost done, honey. Just a little bit more and we're done. We can finally rest. Good job."
But Soobin wasn't listening anymore. He got stuck in a daze the moment switch from threatening to smiley in a matter of seconds and now Soobin's mind went blank and he was just staring.
Staring at his lovely husband.
"Stop."
He was then brought back into reality when the shorter male spoke with a red face.
Soobin blinked, "What?"
"S-Stop looking at me l-like that." Yeonjun stuttered and he didn't even know why. There was just something about Soobin's gaze that made him a mushy mess.
"Like what?" With his head tilted slightly to the side, Soobin asked the male curiously.
Yeonjun played with the hem of his (more like Soobin's) sweater, avoiding the taller's eyes with really warm cheeks. "Like-"
"Like?"
"Like I shine brighter than all the stars in the sky." Yeonjun then wnced and bit his lip, feeling embarrassed of his interpretation and wanting to evaporate, especially when Soobin opened his mouth to reply innocently like he did not just cause Yeonjun's mild heart attack.
"But I don't know how else I'm supposed to look at you."
___
"I told you I can't help it," Soobin shrugged, reaching forward to pour himself a glass of champagne. The cold bottle clanking slightly against the bucket of ice it was in. "You're too beautiful not to stare at."
"Stop!" Yeonjun whined, his red cheeks getting even more visible although he tried to hide it with his hands. "You're embarrassing me."
"I'm just saying the trut-"
"Just say that you love making me flustered."
"That I do," Soobin took a sip of his champagne. Yeonjun glance at him with a cute pout. "But I also love being honest."
"Sure."
"Why? You don't believe me?"
"Of course I do! I mean-look at me, I'm gorgeous!" Yeonjun exclaimed, placing both his palms on his cheeks and acting cute with his eyes fluttering to emphasize what he means.
Soobin's expression swiftly changed and gave him an unimpressed look. "I take back what I said."
The brunette gasped in fake indignant, "I hate you."
"Hate me enough to go feral when someone infuriates me, I see."
___
Maybe this is what his brother meant when he told Soobin that 'all he needs is someone who sees the psycho he is and likes him anyway', but he wasn't thinking that it goes both ways.
Because right after his long rant to Yeonjun about those stupid fuckers he had a meeting with, the male left him silently only to come back with a notebook and a pen in hand and demanded that they wouldn't sleep that night until they were done planning revenge.
Because according to Yeonjun, "no one messes with my husband and gets away with it."
Soobin gaped at him in pure astonishment, not expecting Yeonjun to act that way since he was just quietly listening to Soobin over dinner with a blank face so the latter assumed he was only letting Soobin let his frustrations out but then he was actually getting frustrated, himself.
"Okay, first things first, what the fuck are their names?" Yeonjun asked while opening his notebook and pen as he waited for Soobin to respond.
The younger didn't know whether he should laugh or stop Yeonjun because he did look genuinely pissed and determined to execute whatever the plan would be.
"Baby, I don't think we should go this far-"
"Tell me their names!"
"It was just Ryu and his team." Soobin sighed.
Yenjun's eye twitched upon hearing the name, feeling the rush of protectiveness slowly building its way up his system. "Ryu? Ji Ryu? That jerk in your birthday party?"
Soobin nodded nonchalantly as he reached forward to grab a glass of water and almost dropped it when his eyes fell on his husband who looked ready to commit a murder. The notebook was crumpled in his hold and Soobin swore the pen was so close in snapping in half and he didn't know if he should be scared or what.
"Baby-"
"That fucker!" Yeonjun's voice loomed all over the dining room that caused Soobin to flinch. He heisted approaching the smaller male and possibly risking his safety.
"He doesn't really listen, does he!? That bitch-I swear I'm going to smack him in the face with my shoe once I see him! How dare he mess your meeting up! Argh! I'm so mad I'm gonna rip his head off watch me!"
"Yeon-ah, sweetheart, calm down-"
"Calm down!? You want me to calm down when he dared mess with you again? He is so annoying! I'm telling you Soobin, if I see him I'm going to-"
"No you are not." Soobin firmly stated.
"But-"
"Yeonjun, you're not seeing him. Not after what he did."
"But babe-" Yeonjun tried to protest, only to get cut off by a now stern Soobin.
"He almost hit you and I'm not letting that happen again, Yeon."
Yeonjun was reminded of what happened in that party and sighed in defeat, not wanting to witness Soobin that mad again. He stood up from his seat and went to hug Soobin around his neck from behind, their faces touching.
"Fine, but I still want to smack him though."
Soobin melted at the action and raised his right hand to hold Yeonjun's locked hands on his chest and then turned his face to the side to peck Yeonjun's cheek. "Don't worry," he whispered, "that part had been taken care of."
"Wait, really?"
To someone who just heard about a tendency of violence, Yeonjun was rather ecstatic when he pulled away a little so that they could face each other. His grin couldn't be hidden along with the beam in his eyes and with the curl of Soobin's lips into a subtle smirk, Yeonjun understood his answer.
He hugged him again, this time a little tighter with a quiet squeal. "Ah, I wish I was there to witness it though."
Soobin hummed in response, hand still placed on Yeonjun's when the brunette leaned in close to his ear and whispered, causing Soobin to gulp a little difficulty. "Bet it was hot."
Yeonjun then left a breathless Soobin question what the heck just happened but not without a final kiss at the base of his ear.
___
"You say that as if you aren't always ready to jump at anyone who breathes way too hard in my direction." Yeonjun placed a hand on his chin, his elbow propped on the table as he stared at Soobin with challenging eyes.
However, Soobin is always up to any kind of challenges, especially when it involves a certain brown haired male.
"Are you, perhaps, describing yourself, muffin?" Soobin smirked.
With his eyes rolling at the sudden cockiness of this man in front of him, Yeonjun, although a little struck by the use of rare nickname, leaned in over the table to be close with Soobin and sent a small victorious smile. "I don't know pumpkin, am I the one getting extremely jealous when he thinks someone is being a little too 'friendly'?"
Soobin tilted his head slightly to the side, staring at Yeonjun with amusement dancing on his features as he also gave a small smile. "So we're gonna talk about that, hmm?"
Yeonjun didn't reply, instead, he's currently too engrossed watching the way Soobin's dimples slowly make their way into view. And then, a moment later, his eyes shifted upwards to find Soobin's familiar brown ones looking right back at him with his pupils dilated.
"What can I do? I don't like it when people touch what's mine."
___
It was too quiet.
It had been quiet even when they were still inside the hall. Despite the loud music echoing throughout the place and the chattering of people, it was still too quiet.
No noise. Not even a single word was muttered. It was utter silence between Soobin and Yeonjun.
The brunette was the one to notice this. How could he not, when he all of a sudden was receiving the silent treatment from the tall male?
It made him puzzled; unable to hide the frown on his face when he approached Soobin overran hour ago only to get nothing in response. The raven haired even excused himself when he got here to where Soobin was.
At first, Yeonjun thought Soobin just had something urgent to attend to that's why he left abruptly. But as the time went by, and after his several attempts of talking to the male, he had gone to the conclusion that Soobin, was in fact, avoiding him for some unknown reason.
It pissed Yeonjun off even more when Soobin seemed completely fine interacting with anyone other than him. And to say that he had no idea why only caused the brunette to be even more displeased.
And since he was a petty ass person, he decided to ignore Soobin as well and give him a taste of his own medicine and told himself to enjoy this party without his husband.
But then, it turned out that Soobin did not appreciate this move and grew even more pissed when he realized Yeonjun was doing something on purpose just to spite him.
And as stupid as it might be, Soobin accepted the other's unspoken challenge which then led to their situation right now where everything became more quiet and tense after they left the party and was having a cold shoulder competition at the building's basement.
The atmosphere was thick and suffocating but neither of the two dared to speak even when the tension was grasping tightly around their necks. They kept their mouths sealed and their distance fair while searching for their car, not even batting an eyelash towards each other.
However, the silence was cut short when Soobin got inside the car and started it without waiting for Yeonjun to get in.
As expected, the action resulted to an offended Yeonjun who opened the car door by himself and sat down while he glared at the stoic male. "Couldn't even wait for me to get in?"
"I don't know, why don't you go back to Hansol? I'm sure he'll be more than glad to wait for you." Soobin darkly muttered, rolling his eyes and growing angrier from the scene he had witnessed earlier.
The answer made Yeonjun scoff, finally understanding the shift in attitude and had to calm himself down-not wanting to start a fight that was bound to happen inevitably now anyway.
"So that was what this whole thing was about?" Yeonjun let go of his seatbelt, "Soobin for fuck's sake! Hansol is a friend! You met him before!"
"Well, he sure doesn't know how to act like a 'friend' to me." Soobin firmly responded back, turning to look at Yeonjun in the eye with a dark look.
"Are you serious?" with a hand running through his brown tangled locks out of frustration, Yeonjun let himself fall back down on the seat, eyes closed and sighed. "You know what? Don't start with me, I'm tired."
"After all that flirting, yeah, you must be." Soobin mumbled under his breath that was unfortunately loud enough for Yeonjun to hear. His eyelids snapped back wide open, disbelief filling his features as he gazed up at Soobin's blank face.
"What did you say?"
Soobin didn't answer.
"Soobin," Yeonjun called out, voice starting to rise a little but Soobin remained silent which caused the older male to laugh mockingly.
"Can't believe you said that when it was you who was all over someone else at the bar." He wasn't really planning to mention it but it felt like Soobin was pushing him to. It also didn't help that the both of them had a little drink of alcohol that caused them to be even more riled up.
Thinking about that scene again made Yeonjun's blood boil, he wanted to break the goddamn window with his bare hands and here Soobin was, claiming that it was him who was being flirty with someone. It drove Yeonjun mad.
And Soobin wasn't any better. "I wasn't. And I'm not the one wearing someone else's jacket now, am I?" Soobin wanted to rip that fucking jacket off of his husband. It reminded him of the scene and he wanted to erase that memory and bury it underground along with that man who dared touch what's his.
"He offered because it was getting col-"
"You could've asked me!"
"You were ignoring me!"
A couple more spiteful phrases left both their mouths, both driven by jealousy and anger that neither wanted to lose the argument. It was fortunate that no one was around to witness this fight and that they were inside the car or else their loud voices would be resonating around the whole floor.
Yeonjun had the jacket removed as told by Soobin and Soobin also had his coat off as Yeonjun demanded because he said that the other ale from earlier touched it and he didn't want it near Soobin anymore.
However, the yelling still continued and both males were getting drained, Yeonjun was close to crying and Soobin was feeling a lump on his throat. This whole thing was ridiculous and uncalled for, they know, but they were both too far gone to think rationally and stop, letting their emotions get the best of them.
"I'm not having this conversation anymore." Yeonjun uttered almost inaudibly after a moment of silence. His vision blurry as the tears threatened to fall and he frantically searched for the handle to push the door open and get out of the car because he was going to cry if he stayed longer in there.
Yeonjun made his way out into the dimly lit basement, breathing shakily and legs trembling as he told himself the words his Taehyung hyung told him before.
"If he doesn't chase you after you walk away, keep walking Junnie."
He repeated those words gain and again like a mantra. Each step he took felt heavier than the first and he didn't know if he could still go on but-
He didn't have to.
Not after a hand pulled him back by the wrist that caused him to halt his steps and be engulfed by a tight embrace. Yeonjun got startled, unable to move and react as he let the taller bury his head in his neck and that's when he felt Soobin's shaky figure and tears soaking his shirt.
He didn't notice this at first, but his own tears were streaming down his face too.
"I'm sorry," he heard Soobin mumble against his neck, grip tightening around his torso. "Please don't walk away like that again."
___
Their seats that were originally situated across each other were now placed side by side. Soobin is gently playing with Yeonjun's hair as the male has his head resting on his husband's shoulder, hands playing with Soobin's free one.
Yeonjun loves Soobin's hands, everything about him actually, but this is one of his favorites. He loves holding it, so much, because it's always warm, a contrast to his that were often cold despite the weather. He also loves the way it fits with his own hands and how Soobin's touches are always soft and gentle that never fail to make him feel secured because the male treats him so carefully and it made him feel assured that Soobin would never do something to break him. The guy sees him as something so fragile that always has to be taken care of delicately.
The thought of it made Yeonjun smile unknowingly that didn't go unnoticed by his lover.
"What are you thinking of?" Soobin asked, voice as soft as a blanket that envelopes Yeonjun's heart in a comforting haven.
"You." Yeonjun didn't hesitate to say, nuzzling closer to his husband who was frozen for a split second.
"Me?" The raven haired dumbly repeated.
"Mhm." Yeonjun hummed, intertwining their hands and bringing it close to his lips so he could kiss it. "I'm thinking about you."
Soobin is certain no one else has ever managed to make his heart swell like this like what this man is doing right now. A smile was formed on his face upon hearing what Yeonjun said and he placed a loving kiss on the shorter's forehead.
"Care to specify which trait of mine got you smiling like that?"
Yeonjun pulled away from Soobin's hold after that and faced him with a distraught expression, "That." Soobin frowned in puzzlement and concern.
"What?"
"That! That kiss, that hold, that touch, that-that everything! You're just always so gentle and soft and delicate with me and that always make me feel so-so precious and adored and damn I love you so much." Yeonjun sighed, leaning forward to wrap a flustered Soobin in his arms. "You always make me feel so beautiful and loved and I'm scared I'm not doing it enough back to you because fuck this, Soobin," The rambling male didn't waste any second by capturing Soobin's lips with his. The taller male was too stunned to do anything but kiss back.
"You're the most wonderful person I've ever met and I'm so fucking in love with you." Yeonjun whispered against Soobin's lips once they pulled away, eyes still closed as the both of them pant for air.
