"Gross."
The word found itself floating out of Taehyun's mouth who, according to himself, has been suffering for the entirety of their meet-up; courtesy of the couple in front of him named Choi Soobin and Choi Yeonjun.
The poor boy has to endure sitting there, suggesting his ideas that were all ignored because the two males across him are too engrossed into their own little world to even notice another human being in the same room as them.
He's now questioning himself for his decision of ever agreeing to his parents that trying out as an intern to his friends' company would be a great idea. He blames his lazy ass for this because if he didn't agree, then he would have to take interviews at different companies and he didn't want to waste his time and effort over that.
But now, being in this situation, maybe he should've just taken those damn interviews.
With his face that got stuck in a cringe, Taehyun quickly took the folders beside him and smacked them back down on the table loud and harsh to get his friends' attention who were casually baby-talking each other before they got interrupted by a disgusted Taehyun.
"God, that startled me!" Yeonjun complained, raising his head up from its comfortable position on Soobin's shoulder, his hands over his chest as if accentuating his surprise. He then turned to Soobin with a piteous expression, "Binnie, I was shocked."
"Were you?" To Taehyun's disbelief, Soobin actually played along and answered Yeonjun with the same child-like voice as he gestured the brunette to come closer (as if they weren't close enough) and comforted him. "Don't worry, I'm here."
"What a relief—"
"Can you guys fucking stop it!? I swear I'm about to fucking spill my guts if you both don't fucking quit at this fucking instant!" the youngest warned, giving his two friends a sharp glare. His hands held onto the table as he calmed himself down not to flip the table around out of rage and disgust.
Thankfully, the couple pulled away from each other. Soobin then cleared his throat before he returned back to his papers as if he wasn't just treating his husband like a kid moments ago.
The said husband, however, has a displeased look on his face but did not dwell on it and went back to his own documents too. The pout decorating his lips indicates that he is against the workload though.
"Thank you—"
"I'm sorry I'm late because I don't wanna be here."
Before Taehyun could finish his phrase, a voice coming out of nowhere interrupted him and there comes a wild pink-haired male wearing a black coat with a black-haired male on a same black coat following on his trail.
"Fucking great, more couples." The poor youngest lad muttered under his breath as he let his body fall back down on his chair like he had seen it all already and gave up on life.
"Okay?" Jaemin cautiously said, making his way to sit beside Yeonjun's left side. He then nudged the latter's arm, "What's got him so bitter?"
"Probably because he had a fight with Beomgyu." Yeonjun shrugged.
"Shut up, I don't know a Beomgyu."
"Aww~ are you in a lovers' quarrel?" teased the male, leaning forward to poke Taehyun on his side.
"I will end you."
"Aww~ look at him! He's so heart-broken! Do you want me to call Beom—"
"I told you I don't know a Beomgyu!"
"Babe, stop bothering Taehyun." Jeno scolded his boyfriend, sending him a stern gaze from across the table.
"Jeno hyung is the only one I clai—"
"—he's experiencing heartache. Don't upset him further." Jeno continued, leaving Taehyun appalled with his mouth hanging open in betrayal.
The statement then earned laughter and caused the others to tease Taehyun too, asking him what happened and purposely mentioning Beomgyu's name again and again on purpose just to get a reaction from the bullied boy.
The collective bullying only stopped when Soobin told all of them to quit it because Taehyun looked like he was a second away from committing a mass murder if they didn't shut their mouths. To Taehyun's luck, Soobin succeeded in silencing them all so he wouldn't have to spend some of his years behind jail bars.
About half an hour passed by, and to everyone's surprise, they were actually capable of being productive. The main reason they were all huddled in there was because the Chois' (both families) are planning a business expansion and since each of their family members pretty much has a company to manage already, they all just settled to throw all of the burdens to their youngests for the meantime.
Which means, Soobin and Yeonjun have to deal with all of the responsibilities together and they just blindly accepted the agreement without thinking about the baggages of obligations because both their minds just went "accept the deal = more time together."
And that's basically it.
That's how they stupidly offered themselves to the wrath of heavier business works.
Yeah, well, at least they got to spend more time with each other.
Everyone was busy reviewing their own documents when Jeno stood up and excused himself, they didn't pay that much thought and quickly dismissed him to return back to their papers.
However, a few minutes later, Yeonjun turned his head up and unintentionally caught a glimpse of Jeno with someone unfamiliar through the window which blinds they forgot to close. Now, it wouldn't be such a problem if that's just someone he knows but judging from the way Jeno's holding him carefully by the waist as they walk, that doesn't seem to be just a very friendly gesture.
Especially now that they just resort into playful but flirty punches.
Okay, what the fuck? Yeonjun' starting to get really bothered. He doesn't want to think anything wrong and accuse Jeno of something but—
Yeonjun then glanced at Soobin in panic but the male appears to be so focused in his work so he returned his eyes back to the window and holy shit they are coming closer if Jaemin brings his head up he'll immediately sight them.
So, being the alarmed and protective friend that he is, Yeonjun nudged Jaemin's shoulder to get his attention. The male just sent him a questioning look.
"Nana—who's that with Jeno?" Yeonjun cautiously asked, pointing at the window where the two can be seen.
At the moment, Yeonjun prepares himself for an outburst of wild reaction and for a war to break out but when Jaemin glanced at the window and casually shrugged like he didn't just see his boyfriend throw himself on another person, Yeonjun was left stunned and highly confused.
Because if it was Soobin right there, a grave will have to be dug.
"Oh, that's Renjun."
"Who?"
"Renjun. He's my ex." Jaemin nonchalantly replied.
Yeonjun's eyes widened, his mind performing acrobats for being flipped over. "Your what? And Jeno's basically flirting with him and you're fine with it?"
"Well yeah, that's his boyfriend."
"What the fuck? He left you for your ex?"
By now, the two conversing male had managed to earn the other two male's attention inside that room. Soobin and Taehyun looked at them with frowns splattered on their faces.
"What? No! We didn't break up!"
"Then why is Jeno—"
"Hey," Jeno entered the room, that Renjun guy walking with him. Not gonna lie, this dude is cute as fuck with his attractive visual but being the bias and loyal husband that he is, Yeonjun believes Soobin is more attractive.
Yeonjun then turned to Jaemin with a frustrated expression as Jen went to talk with Soobin, "Are you not gonna do anything!?"
"Why would I? That's his boyfriend."
"But that's your boyfriend too! And your ex—"
"I'm sorry, what?" That Renjun guy cut them off as he took steps closer to where they are. Jaemin visibly stiffens and Yeonjun is still puzzled as fuck. Taehyun remains unbothered and unfazed, still diligently working on his files.
"Did you just—Oh god, I can't believe you." Renjun shakes his head and then approached the pink-haired male and didn't hesitate to pinch his ear, causing Jaemin to whine and whimper.
"Can you stop telling people I'm your ex and making everything weird?" Renjun twists his fingers further which made the other male stand up from his seat. "Ow! Ow! Injunnie!"
"Ah, you stress me out so much." With that, Renjun showed mercy and let the poor boy go. Jaemin pouts and sulks back to his seat, cradling his poor ear.
Yeonjun watched everything with a dumbstruck face. "What the heck?" he whispered absentmindedly.
"I'm sorry," Renjun bowed, "Nana likes telling that 'ex-shit' to make people confuse but—no, we didn't break up and no cheating is happening."
"Did I hear it right? Jaemin's doing it again?" Jeno joined the conversation, taking his previous seat beside Jaemin's.
"Yeah, remind me why I'm still dating him."
Jaemin stucks his tongue out at Renjun who rolls his eyes.
"That's what happens when you're always away."
"I told you I'm sorry. I'll stay here longer from now on."
"I don't believe you."
"Nana—"
"Hold on," Yeonjun interrupted, "Mind explaining? I'm still kinda lost here." He then shifts his gaze among the three apparently boyfriends.
He's still confused as shit, he feels like drowning by this new information.
Thankfully, Renjun has the guts to explain. "Well, you see—me, along with these idots are in a relationship. And Nana here made it a habit to baffle people by bringing up that 'ex-boyfriend' shit which started when we had a little argument over stupid things." He glared at Jaemin who's still sulking, by the way. "I live in China and have to go home often so I have to leave both of them alone sometimes and this giant baby is so salty about it that he said we're on break until I move here which won't be happening until next year."
"Okay, now that made me sounds bad." Jaemin complained.
"Because you are."
"Fine. I'm sorry—I just—I miss you a lot when you're not around."
Renjun let out a sigh and smiles, "I understand but please—stop with that story or else." He then threw Jaemin a sharp glare who only responded with a wink and finger hearts.
Yeonjun is now nodding to himself as he absorbs all of this info, the paperworks he's supposed to review, forgotten.
But unbeknownst to him, it wasn't just him alone who's keenly listening at this explanation but this one male's interest was also piqued that he dropped his papers and looked at them. "So you're also in a polyamorous relationship?"
"Yeah," answered Jaemin with a nod.
But then—
"Wait—"Yeonjun squinted his eyes at his friend, his mind calculating that one slipped up word. "What do you mean also? Taehyun?"
The said male's breath hitched, his movements froze as he felt Yeonjun's critical stare on him. He panics inside, scolds himself for ever opening his big mouth. He should've just stayed there, mouth shut and uncaring but no—he really had to speak and out himself in the open and now Yeonjun's eyes are twitching and he could already hear his nagging though his lips are still sealed.
"Taehyun, what do you mean by also?"
"He means him, along with Beomgyu and Kai. Don't you know that?" Soobin casually let the words out, raising his gaze up away from the laptop and finds everyone's eyes on him. "Is that supposed to be a secret?" he dumbly asked, tilting his head to the side.
Yeonjun returned his gaze back on Taehyun with a frightening small smile. Taehyun began to measure his distance from the door.
"Oh, I see."
"Hyung—"
"Kang Taehyun!"
___
Later that day, Soobin had to go because he was called in to meet some CEOs of the companies their artists would be collaborating with. Taehyun had also taken his leave because his parents needed him to be home for something which he was strangely really grateful about because then he had escaped Yeonjun's rage and got to live another day. However, before the male could go, Yeonjun made it clear that he isn't done with him and threatened that he has to hide Beomgyu and Kai before he kills all three of them.
The other three males didn't leave the company but was told to continue their jobs. Apparently, Renjun signed a contract with JinHit so he'll be working with them for a while.
And that left Yeonjun to be stuck in Soobin's office alone and since he has nothing better to do anyway, he decided to finish everything on his plate and also reviewed some files meant for Soobin.
Would you look at that, he's done being a lazy ass and finally got the hook of how this whole business shit works. He'd excel on it in no time. Yeonjun's that confident.
Oh, maybe he should also be the face of their new expansion since he's that gorgeous and there would be no competition anymore which means success and power.
Nevermind, his beauty is meant for Soobin alone there's no need for cameras to be shoved in his face.
But he's currently mad at that tall ass giant bunny so fuck it, whatever.
*
On the other hand, the staffs are informing each other that Soobin has returned from his meeting and he seems to be in a foul mood. Because of this, every single employee is now panicking and trying to find something to busy themselves with so they wouldn't be interfering with the dreaded vice president's way. The whole floor is in havoc, preparing themselves to be under the vice president's dark presence and penetrating gaze.
And there comes the feared man, he entered the building in his signature blank face but the aura he exudes appears to be more frightening and intimidating.
The whole place fell silent, everyone lined on either side of the male as they bowed their heads to welcome him. The only thing to be heard is the sound of his shoes against the tiled floor; each step making everyone's heart to drop in nervousness.
Until finally, Soobin has reached the elevator and the people almost let out a sigh of relief.
Almost.
If only the elevator door opened and revealed an empty space but it didn't.
The moment it fell open, an obnoxious laughter of an oblivious man resonated across the floor and greeted Soobin's figure which made everybody froze. They aren't even breathing.
To this man, who has the audacity to laugh loudly through a phone call in front of an outraged Soobin, may your soul ascend peacefully.
Your bravery and presumptuous act shall be acknowledged once you're gone.
Soobin stood there, mounted and stoic while everyone in the vicinity awaits the fate of this man who still hasn't notice death in front of him.
He talked rather aggressively again and laughed before he hanged up the call at last. And that's when he detected the pin-drop silence looming all over the place as he puts his phone away. The man's face contorted in confusion. He sports a frown on his face as he gazes around, obviously starting to get freaked out when he found everybody's eyes falling on him.
And then his line of vision finally went in front, starting from a pair of shoes up to that very recognizable face. The man let out a shocked gasp, stepping back and tripping on his feet when he made contact with those petrifying piercing dark irises. He instantly bowed down and strings of apology left his mouth. Soobin just watched him, unfazed as his bangs fall idly just above his eyes, giving him a much greater grim look while he gazes down on the poor male.
"Out." Soobin simply muttered but the authority of his voice was there and it was enough for each present person in there to quiver in fear.
"Y-Yes, s-sir. I-I'm sorry." The male hurriedly left the elevator and let Soobin in while still bowing repeatedly.
As soon as the door closed and Soobin was finally out if everyone's sight, the whole floor breathed out of relief and was about to celebrate the man's unbelievable luck when the staff in the front desk paled and speaks out despite the commotion.
"Mr. Shin," the woman called out, gulping and blinking repeatedly at the message displayed on her device. "I-I was j-just informed that you're—you're no longer working here. You're out of the company."
And with that, silence fell once again as the security came like they were on cue and took the struggling man away.
*
Yeonjun was taking his time in the cafeteria, savoring this strawberry cheesecake when his attention was rudely caught by the distressed behavior of the employees that were all formerly just minding their own business until their phones started to collectively go off.
And then just like that, the calm atmosphere was ruined and they were all in state of panic.
The brunette frowned, puzzlement taking over his features as his peaceful environment turned into chaos in a matter of seconds. He stared at his phone, expecting it to show a message like how it happened to everyone but nothing.
Deciding to just shrug it off, Yeonjun took a spoonful of his cheesecake and was about to take a bite when the cafeteria fell quiet and then the people begun to stand up and bow in unison.
If it was still possible for Yeonjun's frown to deepen then it just did. His brows are furrowed so hard together they almost touched while he remained seated.
And since everybody is standing up, he was also about to do the same when he found out the reason why and then he just scoffed and rolled his eyes.
Soobin made his way nonchalantly towards his table, not a single person dared look at them directly. The news of the guy being fired immediately because of being in the vice president's way travelled like flash, resulting everyone to be cautious and careful in fear of meeting the same fate.
When Soobin reached Yeonjun's spot, the brunette, although his stomach protested, stood up from his seat to take his leave but the other male caught his wrist.
Yeonjun closed his eyes and took a deep breath before he turned around to look his husband in the eye with the same blank look, "Let go."
Soobin didn't.
Yeonjun raised his brow in a daring manner which left the taller with no choice but to comply.
Yeonjun then turned to the crowd of the still silent people and gave them a bright smile. "It's okay, don't mind him! Please continue with your meals everyone."
The cafeteria is still reluctant but because of Yeonjun's genuine and comforting warm smile, they felt at ease and slowly did what they were told without even noticing it.
"Oh and everything is on vice chairman today so feel free to eat as much as you want!" the brunette added enthusiastically.
"Wha—"
"Isn't that right?" Yeonjun glared at Soobin when he opened his mouth to speak. This caused the male to instantly nod his head, "Yeah, it's on me today."
As the crowd cheers in delight, Yeonjun left the cafeteria to return back to Soobin's office. The latter following behind like a lost puppy because Yeonjun still refuses to spare him attention.
It started because of what occurred earlier.
Turns out, Yeonjun was the only one in their circle who was unaware of the other three being in a relationship. Soobin had known because Kai told him about it. Meanwhile Yeonjun was clueless for no one bothered to inform him and his two best friends kept it from him and his fucking husband didn't even think of informing him.
That is treachery right there, people!
So like yeah, Yeonjun is being salty and petty about it.
And because of that, Soobin got deprived of attention leaving him with a really foul mood that he took out on every single thing on his sight.
He just needs his hugs and kisses, okay? Don't blame him.
Once they were both inside the office, Yeonjun didn't waste any second and began gathering his things to go home, still not sparing the tall bunny a glance.
Soobin internally sighed, realizing that just standing there wouldn't bring him no justice so he started approaching the smaller male who's busy stuffing his folders inside his briefcase.
Soobin raised both his arms up in an attempt to envelope the brunette in an embrace from behind but Yeonjun dodged his act.
Truth be told, he isn't seriously mad. He just wants to know what Soobin will do to get his attention because fuck this shit Yeonjun craves affection and Soobin barely gives him that.
It was all used up the first week they got together and he wants more—no. He needs more but he doesn't want to ask for it, okay? He wants Soobin to initiate.
They were acting all lovey-dovey earlier this day according to Taehyun but dude, it's been a while since the last time why can't they be like that every fucking day?
It's been what? A month? And they still hasn't kiss again? The fuck?
"Yeon," Soobin softly called out which brought Yeonjun out of his thoughts but he still ignored the other and pretended that he isn't there.
What should Soobin do? He's dying to get a hold of his husband but he won't let him.
Soobin feels like he's about to burst because he's been holding himself back for weeks when all he wants to do is cage Yeonjun in between his arms and pamper his face with kisses. Take him out on dates and shower him with gifts and compliments because he knows how much Yeonjun loves to be praised.
And goodness gracious he wants to kiss him so bad but he's refraining from doing so because what if he comes on too strong and scares Yeonjun away?
He doesn't want his baby to be uncomfortable so he just acted like usual for the past month because what if Yeonjun wants to take things slow? Does that even make sense?
"Baby," Soobin back-hugged Yeonjun who just stood there and let Soobin do what he wants.
And did Soobin just call him baby again? Holy shit he missed that—
"Hey, I'm sorry. I thought you already know about those hooligans being boyfriends." Soobin settled his chin on Yeonjun's shoulder, pulling him closer.
The smaller only hummed although he fucking likes being this close deep inside.
"Baby talk to me, please?"
Yeonjun didn't respond, instead he just took his briefcase up and walked, Soobin still holding onto him for dear life.
"Yeon,"
Silence.
"My baby,"
Silence.
"Babe,"
Silence.
"Muffin."
"What?"
"What?"
Yeonjun removed Soobin's arms and faced him with a brow raised in question. "What did you call me?"
"Muffin?"
"Why?"
"Because I love muffins." Soobin replied casually.
Yeonjun blinks at him, "Did you just indirectly say—"
"I did."
"Oh." Yeonjun looks down, he felt his cheeks heating up as a grin slowly creeps its way onto his lips. Soobin noticed this and did not miss a beat to point it out. He too, tried to bit back a smile.
"You're smiling. I thought you're mad."
"Shut up. My heart did a thing."
Soobin lets out a chuckle as he takes a step forward to pull Yeonjun to his chest. Both of them getting lost at the warm feeling each other radiates. Their hearts feeling full and satisfied.
"The last time you said those words was like ages ago." Yeonjun muttered against Soobin's chest.
The ravenette smiled and shook his head, "No, I say them every night and every morning. You just snore in response."
"Hey! I don't snore!" the smaller slaps his arm and then paused once he registered what was said. "Wait—you do?"
Soobin nodded.
"What? Why not when I'm awake?"
"I don't know. I was thinking you'll get tired hearing it."
"You idiot." Yeonjun looks up at him with a cute glare. "I would never! Oh god—I thought you don't like saying it all the time so I don't say it often too!"
"Oh, well then. I love you."
Yeonjun began turning red as a tomato, he feels like smoke is coming out of him. He slaps Soobin's arms again and buried his face in his chest, both his hands clutching on Soobin's shirt tightly.
"Not like that! I wasn't prepared!"
Soobin only laughed at how adorable his husband look complaining with a flustered face that he can't stop himself from cooing.
"Awe~ my baby is so cute~" Soobin baby-talks.
Yeonjun glares up at him with a red face and tried to get away from his grasp but Soobin only held him tighter. "Is my baby shy?"
"I'm not afraid to punch you."
"So adorable~" Soobin continued.
Yeonjun looks so done.
Soobin then grins widely, a sign that he thought of something and he's about to do it. "Shall I give my baby a kiss? Hmm?"
Being fed up of his husband's tricks, Yeonjun groaned out of frustration. "Oh my god, Choi Soobin! Just fucking do it!"
So Soobin did.
He doesn't want to upset the baby.
