Daniel's POV

Sierra and I had a blast. She beat me twice go karting. She got the hang of it fast. I help her out of the go kart. I say,

"You got lucky beating me. "

She laughs and says, "Oh please. I'm the champ! "

I laugh and say, "The champ of cheating. "

She laughs and pushes me gently. I laugh more and say,

"There's an ice cream parlor here. Want to get some ice cream? "

She nods and says, "You're buying since you lost. "

I laugh and say, "An ice cream for the wittle champ. "

She laughs. We walk over to the ice cream parlor. Nick appears from under the counter. He smiles and says,

"What can I get you two? "

I turn to Sierra and ask,

"What would you like? "

She studies the menu then says,

"A rainbow swirl! With sprinkles! "

I laugh and say, "You sound like a little kid. "

She giggles. I turn to Nick and say,

"I'll have the same. "

He nods and gets to work. I turn back to Sierra and say,

"Having fun? "

She nods and says, "I needed this. Thank you. "

I smile and say, "No problem. "

Nick says, "Here ya go. "

I place five dollars on the counter and take the two ice creams from his hands. I hand one to Sierra. I say,

"Thanks Nick. "

He nods and says, "Anytime. "

I lead Sierra to a table. We sit down and begin to eat our ice creams. She says,

"I love your leather jacket. "

I smile and say, "Oh this old thing? It's nothing. "

She laughs and says, "Sure. "

I chuckle. I look up at the sky. I say,

"Wow. "

She looks up. Her eyes light up. The sky is a beautiful orange and pink. With just a bit of blue in there. It's magnificent. She says,

"It's beautiful. "

I say, "It's gorgeous. "

I look at Sierra, who was looking at me. I smile and say,

"It's getting late little pop star. "

She smiles and says, "I guess it is officer. "

We get up and throw the rest of our ice creams away. On the way toward gates I ask,

"Do you want me to take you back to the motel? "

She says, "Nah. I think I'll go back to Neverland. "

I nod. I take her to the car and we get in. As I head for Neverland, she says,

"I can pay you back for the motel and ice cream. "

I smile and say, "No need. I was helping a friend. "

I look over at her. She smiles. I pull up to the gates of Neverland. I ask,

"Is there a button? "

She says, "Hold on a sec. "

She gets out. A security guard comes into view. He nods and goes back to wherever he came. The gates begin to open. Sierra gets back in the car.

I drive up the long driveway and park outside the house. I get out and run around the car to Sierra's door. I open her door. She gets out and laughs. She says,

"What a gentleman. "

I say in a bad British accent, "Anything for the queen. "

She laughs. I smile. I walk her to the door. When we arrive, I say,

"I guess this is it. "

She says, "Wait. Could you come inside with me? I'm a bit nervous. "

I say, "Of course I will. "

She smiles at me and opens the door. Once the door closes, I hear,

"Sierra? Is that you?! "

Sierra says, "Yes it's me, Michael. "

Michael comes around the corner. He walks straight towards Sierra and hugs her. He says,

"I'm so sorry. Please forgive me. I was so stupid. I thought you left forever. I was so worried! "

She giggles and says, "It's ok, Michael. Everything is fine. I would never leave. "

They separate. He sees me and shakes my hand. He says,

"Thank you so much, Officer Daniel. "

I smile and say, "No problem. Please, call me Daniel. "

He nods. He seems a bit confused. I wonder if he knows my first name is Daniel. Sierra says,

"Is it ok if I have a guest over? "

Michael says, "Of course. Who's the guest? "

Sierra giggles and says, "Well, Daniel. "

I smile and wave at Michael. He nods and says,

"Well, now that I know you're safe, I can go to sleep. I'll see you in the morning, Sierra. "

She nods. Michael turns on his heels and walks away. Sierra grabs my hand and leads me through the house. Out the door and way out into the amusement rides. I say,

"Wow! This is amazing! "

She says, "I know. It's like a fantasyland. "

I smile and say, "Neverland..."

She looks at me and says,

"Let's go to the theater. "

I smile and say, "Don't you think that's a bit risky. People could recognize you. "

She laughs and says, "No, silly, Michael has a theater on the property. "

My eyes widen. I say, "What! That's amazing! "

She leads me to the theater. I'm impressed. I've been impressed as soon as I walked through the front door.

She says,

"Sit where ever you like. I'll be right back. "

I nod.

I take a seat in the front row. I haven't been to the movies in a while. Sierra comes back and sits next to me. She says,

"This is my favorite movie. Back to The Future. "

I smile and say, "I love this one. "

She raises the arm rest and cuddles up next to me. I noticed she had popcorn with her. I ask,

"Extra butter? "

She smiles and says, "Always. "

I smile.

I wake up with Sierra's arms around me. I check my watch. 6:12am. I have work in an hour. I carefully move Sierra's arms from around me. I don't want to wake her. I stand up and stretch.

I pull a pen out of my pocket and write my number and a little message on the popcorn bag. I place it near her head so she'll see it. I see my jacket covering her. I decide to leave it.

I walk out of the theater and walk back to Neverland. Sleeping in a movie theater chair isn't the most comfortable bed. I go inside the house through the back door.
I hear someone in the kitchen. I'll have to see who it is anyway. The front door is right next to the kitchen. I look and see it's Michael. I might as well say hello.

"Hey, Michael. "

He turns around and smiles at me. He says,

"Hello, Daniel. Would you like some coffee? "

I say, "No thanks. I'll just get some on the way to work. "

"You have work today? For how long? "

"I work two shifts, so all day and night. "

I check my watch again. I have to go. I say,

"I have to go, Michael. It was nice talking with you. "

He nods and smiles. "Same here. "

I walk out of the house. That was a bit weird. I felt tension coming from him. Like it was hurting him to talk to me. I wonder why. I get into my car and drive to work.
