Sierra's POV
I knew this would happen. I knew they come to check on me. It's who they are.
Scot pulls me into a tight hug. Shanone hugs me from behind. I almost feel better, but Michael isn't hugging me yet.
I look at him. "There's room for one more."
He begins to cry as he runs out of my house. Scot and Shanone let go of me. Scot begins to go after Michael. I stop him.
"I have to do it. You guys just stay here."
They nod. I walk outside and look around. He's not here. I have a good feeling on where he is. I walk around the backyard and see the leaves pushed back, revealing the underground bunker door.
When I first moved here, I was ten. Michael soon moved a block away from me. One day, we were playing baseball and I slid to first base, revealing the door to the underground bunker.
Michael and I called it "Secret World". We called it that, because over the years since we found it, Michael would buy all kinds of children toys and we'd put them in the bunker. Now when we go down there, it's like a whole other world. Our secret world.
I open the bunker, not really caring if anyone sees. I'm moving anyway.
I walk down the dimly lit stairs. Michael has already turned the light on. He's crying in the corner holding onto the bear he got me. I walk over and sit next to him. He puts his head on my shoulder.
"Sierra, please tell me it isn't true."
I bite my lip to keep from crying.
"I'm sorry, Mikey, I'm so sorry."
He puts his arms around me and asks,
"Why?"
I hold onto him and say,
"My dad is making me go on tour-"
Michael interrupts me, he looks at me and smiles, "Tour? That's not so bad! You'll be back in a matter of months!"
I shake my head. "No, Michael. My dad booked a world tour. It'll last for ten years."
Michael's eyes widen. "Ten years! That's too damn long!"
I nod. "I know...I'm sorry. I can't change his mind either."
Michael gets up and paces back and forth. I get up and give him room. Out of nowhere he begins to punch the wall so hard and fast. His hand begins to bleed quickly.
"Michael! Stop!"
I was too shocked to say anything. Michael and I turn around and see Scot and Shanone. They both have scared expressions. I turn back to Michael and see his hand. My eyes widen.
"Michael, don't look at your hand!"
"What?"
He begins to look down, but I grab his face.
"Stay looking at me.... Scot! Get the car ready!"
I hear him start running. Shanone holds the door open as Michael and I go up the stairs. We make it on the ground.
Michael finally asks, "What's going on? What's wrong with my hand? I don't even feel anything. "
I don't say a word. He has no idea that his bone is poking out of his hand.
Michael and I get in the back of my car. Scot is in the driver's seat and Shanone is next to him.
"Go Scot."
While we're driving, Michael says,
"Sierra, you're the world to me. How am I suppose to live without you?"
I sigh and say, "My dad says time will fly by fast. Maybe he's right. But Mikey, I will come and find you as soon as possible and we will have our life together. I just need you to wait for me."
He nods quickly and says, "I'll wait for you no matter how long it takes! No one will ever make my heart beat the way you do."
I start to tear up. Michael uses his other hand to wipe my tear and says,
"I thought you were the toughest girl I'll ever meet."
I laugh. "And don't you forget it."
He smiles. "May I look at my hand?"
"Do you want to puke her brains out?"
"Is it that bad?"
Scot and Shanone and I all say at once, "Yes!"
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Michael had to have surgery on his hand, but he's going to be fine. I didn't go into the hospital with him. Shanone and Scot have been keeping me posted. If Joseph knows I was there when this happened, he might cancel next Wednesday.
Scot and Shanone can't believe I'll be leaving for ten years. I made them promise to never leave Michael's side. I told them that I want us all together when I get back. They promised.
My final day is Wednesday. I have to make it count.
