The funeral

" Sorry for your loss, dear.."

" Keep it together... That's what they'd want from you."

" We're here for you...:

This is all they'd always say but then eventually left one by one. The day they died was also the day Cynthia died as well. She was only 5 yrs old but was aware of what had happened then. Even though she loved her parents so much, it had such great impact on her, a great shock that she completely went silent ever since then. Even when she saw her sister, Grace crying, even when everybody told her to cry, she didn't cry; not even a single tear of pain, nothing!

It was as if she was a body without a soul. Her expressionless face, the way she didn't cry a single tear, like an adult..it was all the proof they needed to realize this and understand that she was actually the one who genuinely cared for her parents.

From time to time, each day, she'd go in her room and spend time sitting alone with her head down on her laps. It was such a sad thing that it was quite not possible to just keep it all locked up inside yet all she'd do was sit there all by herself without complaining about it at all.

It was too cruel to even think about the fact that a 4 year old girl wouldn't cry about the tragic death of her parents. But even in all this misery which just seems too much for a little kid like Cynthia, she managed to contain it all except that she gave up her own voice in this battle with her emotions but ended up in a hole of silence and emptiness; of which getting out was almost impossible.
