Adult Decisions
The next morning:
Jessica had slept through the night after being brought in. She had no idea yet that she was pregnant. The doctors and her parents were waiting to tell her. She didn't remember much from the party and was a little scared when she woke up in a hospital room.
As her eyes started to open, the doctor and her parents stood over her.
"Hi Jessica...." the doctor says
"What happened?" She mumbles
"Your sister brought you in last night after a party. You had low blood pressure and some alcohol poisoning." The doctor says calmly
She looks at her parents. Her mother was sobbing and her father sat in a corner with his arms crossed looking at the floor.
"Mom... dad... I'm so sorry." Jessica cries
Dorthy cries harder and couldn't even look Jessica in the eyes.
This is when Jessica's world was about to turn upside down.
"Jessica, did you know that you were pregnant?" The doctor says upfront
"Pregnant? No... I'm not." Jessica shakes her head
"Jessica, honey, you are in fact pregnant. But your baby is okay after everything that happened last night."
There were no words to describe how Jessica was feeling. She felt sick to her stomach. She wanted to throw up. The thought of being pregnant made her feel helpless. Then, she thought about what was going through her parents head. She was humiliated. Jessica never planned for this. Her life was going to change within the snap of a finger.
She had promised herself and her parents that she would save herself until she was married. Being pregnant was the top of the sundae at this point.
"Mom..." she cries
Dorthy didn't say a word or comfort Jessica. Neither did her father.
"I'll leave you three alone and go get the discharge papers." The doctor says leaving the room
Jessica sat there and cried harder than ever.
"Is it Sam's?" Her father asks
Jessica nods her head. "It could only be his." She stutters
"I can't believe this Jessica. How could you let this happen?" Dorthy cries
"Mom I don't know... we used protection. I don't want this!" Jessica cries
"Well you shouldn't have been having sex at all, Jessica! Now you're stuck!" Albert snaps
"Daddy! I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" Jessica cries
Albert shook his head in silence
"You're sixteen, Jessica! Sixteen! You're a baby! You didn't think! How many times did we tell you that all Sam wanted was sex! Look!" Dorthy sobs
"We love each other. We didn't mean for this to happen! But I promise, he'll take care of me!" Jessica struggles to say
"How can you be so sure? He's going to leave you, Jessica! He's 18 and his life is getting started. You're still in High school!" Dorthy exclaims
Jessica covers her face and cries into her hands. Dorthy cries too all while Albert thinks and thinks.
"And you snuck out last night. You almost killed your self and that baby! You had no business sneaking out and going to that party!" Dorthy adds
Jessica couldn't say another word. She was lost for words at this moment.
"Since you are making all of these adult choices and believe that Sam will take care of you, then fine. When we get home, you will pack your things and leave our home. You are no longer welcome in my house. You are an embarrassment and I have never been more disappointed and angry in you. I can't even look at you. You have proven to me and your mother that you are not the daughter we raised." Albert says, breaking the silence
It was quite for a moment. Jessica looks up at her father, more scared than ever. Her own father was kicking her out. What would she do now? The last thing she wanted was for her father to be disappointed in her. Now he was and there was go going back. Her heart shattered into a million pieces making this even harder.
"Albert... now come on." Dorthy says with tears
"No, Dorthy. It's time we teach our kids a lesson. We can't have George exposed to this... we will take care of Jane later. But Jessica is not aloud in our home any longer." He says sternly
Dorthy still would not look at Jessica. She just stared at the ground, even when talking to her.
"Mom... dad... please.... but that's my home. I can't leave, where will I go?" She cries
"You will figure it out." Albert says
"You can't do this! I'm your daughter." She begs
"I can and I will! Do you I make myself clear?"

Jessica was discharged from the hospital and on her way home with her parents. The car ride home was silent. The only thing you could hear was sniffles from Jessica and her mother. She knew her mother didn't want to kick her to the streets, but her father made himself clear. Dorthy had no say.
Jessica wanted to die. This is not how her life was suppose to go. She was sixteen, pregnant, and now homeless. She wanted nothing more than to have a restart button. Her life was crashing down into pieces and she didn't know what to do.
When they arrived home Ann was still there watching George and Jane. They walked into the house and it was silent. George and Jane were in their rooms and Ann waited in the living room.
When Ann saw Jessica she runs up to her and gives her the biggest hug. Jessica could barely breathe from how much she had been crying.
"Pack your things." Albert says walking away
"What? Pack her things?" Ann asks her father
Dorthy walked to the couch and hunched herself over and started to cry into her lap.
"I want you out too. I blame you for how your sisters act." Albert says
"They are kicking me out. So much for good parents, right?" Jessica says
"You can't kick her out! She's sixteen! She needs you too!"
"Ann... not now." Dorthy says
"I made my decision and it's final." Albert yells
"Fine! Then if you are going to kick out Jessica, cut me off." Ann says
"Ann, no!" Jessica says, knowing exactly what her sister was about to do.
Jane stood at the top of the stairs and watched everything go down.
"Don't Ann!" Jane says
"I don't want to hear anything from you!" Albert says to Jane
"What are you talking about, Ann? Cut you off?"
"Mom, dad, I'm gay! Sorry to break it to you, but your little perfect church family isn't so perfect." Ann says... finally, she had gotten that off her chest. After years of hiding. If there weren't going to accept Jessica, they weren't going to accept her either.
Dorthy couldn't handle any more news. She cried harder and shook her head. Albert stood there in disbelief.
"And if you're going to kick out Jessica, she will come and live with me and Madison. My girlfriend of four years!" She adds
"Well then fine. But we will not have you back in this house." Albert says
"I can't believe you can just sit there and watch this all go down. Let your controlling sick husbands make all the Decisions. It's sad." Ann says to her mother
Dorthy looks up at Ann with tears in her eyes. At this point, she was so angry that all the words that were about to come out of her mouth were words that she would never be expected to say.
"I don't want a gay daughter or a pregnant one either." She says a sternly
Ann looks at Jessica who was crying and Jane who was as well.
"Jessica, go pack your things. I'll start the car."
Jessica turns to Jane and they go upstairs to help her pack.
When they reach Jessica's room George was there sobbing.
"Don't leave, Jessica!"
"I have too. Dad is making me." She cries as she hugs her little brother.
"I wish things weren't this way." Jane says joining in on the hug
"I'm sorry... this is all my fault." Jessica cries
"No it isn't! It's theirs!" Jane says sternly
"What if I never see you or Ann again?" He says
"You will... I promise."
For the next thirty minutes George and Jane helped Jessica pack everything she could. When Jane was able too, she would give Jessica the rest of her things, but for now, she packed all of her clothes, some shoes, and things that were meaningful to her.
Ann came back in to help them carry her things and put them in the car.
As Jessica was about to walk out Dorthy had finally looked her in the eyes for the first time today. When she saw her mothers eyes she could see the devastation and anger in them.
It had finally reached that point. Jessica didn't know when she would see her parents again, but she knew this would be the last time for a while.
