I jolt awake to the sound of my alarm. I find both the Doctor and Yas standing over me. Ugh, why couldn't yesterday be a strange dream that I am having? Having noticed that I am awake the pair move back slightly. I notice a look of annoyance on her face. It is as if she can't work out whether or not I am important. Either way, I am connected to this somehow. It is the usual case of being at the wrong place at the wrong time.

"Doc, what are you doing?" I ask. I am a little out of it as my brain hasn't caught up to the fact that my body is awake.

"The black sludge is being controlled by someone who is possibly connected to you. In other words, I was checking on you," The doctor responds as I stretch.

"Well if you want to talk to someone, talk to my colleague Javier Juárez. He's been behaving weirdly for the past couple of days. If you'll excuse me I have to get ready for work," I say as I get out of bed. I get the feeling that work today will involve finding out what is going on. After thirty minutes of various chores, I am ready for work. I take a deep breath. There is a part of me that doesn't want to go into the labs today as I still haven't wrapped my head around the events of last night. The thing is I can't exactly call in sick given the fact that we have a bit of a crisis brewing. I shrug the thought off as I join the doctor and Yas in my living room.

"I'm ready to go when you are Doc," I announce. With that out of the way, the three of us pile into my car. The air is tense as I make the routine drive to work. After seven minutes of driving, we made it to the main gate. Instead of being greeted by Joe, we are greeted by Kate. She looks a little bothered.

"I knew you'd be here doctor. The TARDIS isn't the most inconspicuous ship," Kate announces as she opens the gate. Yas and the doctor get out of the car and follow Kate while I park the car. I quickly joined the trio.

"I'm sure Mia has filled you two in as to what is going on?" Kate checks.

"Yes, she has," Yas responds for the doctor who seems to be lost in thought. Before we can do anything she makes a beeline for the decontamination chamber or rather the hall that connects it to the labs. I try to stop her but there is no need to bother as Yas and Kate have followed her. Well, there is not much that I can do. I quickly joined them. I can feel my face contort into a look of pure confusion.

"Hmm... The black sludge came from here. It was controlled by someone," The Doctor mumbles as she scans the section of the hallway that leads to a door to a computer server. The Doctor manages to yank open the door. I glance at the server inside. It is covered in the same sludge that attacked me. The doctor enters the small room. She is quick to notice something that wasn't there before.

"Oh no...," The look on her face changes as she picks up a figurine. I get the feeling that I've seen the person who the figurine is shaped after before. It feels like someone I know but I just can't place my finger on who it is. The doctor quickly pockets the figurine.

"He's here isn't he Doctor?" I hear Kate whisper to the doctor. Her voice is riddled with concern.

"Yes," A grave look falls across her face. That means things have gotten a lot worse for Porton Down.

"Anyway we need to figure out how the Master is controlling the slime and where he is hiding," The doctor goes back to being her cheerful self. It is as if she takes pleasure in solving a mystery.

"Like I said, doctor. Talk to Javier. His behaviour has been off," I remind her of what I said earlier as it might help. With that, I take The doctor and Yas to Javier's desk. Unfortunately, he is not there however it doesn't take long for Javier to arrive. As soon as he spots the doctor he freezes. He seems like he is about to fangirl over the doctor. It soon turns into a sneer. I notice that the look of excitement has disappeared from the doctor's face.

"Doc, what's wrong?" I prompt.

"That man is not who he says he is. He is actually a fellow timelord called the master" The doctor announces as she pulls the sonic screwdriver out of her pocket. Well, that explains why Javier has been acting weirdly. With a buzz of her sonic screwdriver the master's disguise comes away revealing the face of a psychopath.

"Hello, Doctor. It took you long enough," The master jeers as he makes his way to the emergency control panel. I know exactly what he is going to do. I try my best to get in between him and the control panel. The good thing is I am successful however my success doesn't last long. With a few swift movements, the master has me in a headlock. He is holding a strange device in his hands. I try my best to wiggle free however the master's grip is too much for me. 

"Kate, can you hit the red button for me?" He asks. Kate glances between the master and the doctor. I can feel the device getting closer to my head. After another moment of hesitation, Kate finally gives in. She reluctantly presses the button for the master. As soon as she does an alarm sounds and the blue light is replaced by the emergency lights. That can only mean one thing. Porton Down is in lockdown.
