ꗄ 05 ⦙ Perfect Christmas
As the door opened, Tessa Greathouse stood there with her Lucy.
Whoever opens the door, hug them. Tessa recites in her mind, while hugging herself and breathes. The door opens, and she runs into Mark.
"Merry Merry Christmas"
On the other side, Mark's face is in pink color after the sudden collision.
Lucy enjoys the show.
"Tess...Tessa. Uhh. Get off me" Mark struggled but her embrace after four years took him to their teens.
"Yes, it's me, Mark, Merry Christmas to you, my Bunny," Tessa yelled wished him. Pinkish boy turning redder, now.
"Oh no, someone forgets her Jane. It's okay, Lucy how exist ya being?"
Jane passed them to hug Lucy.
"Don't ruin their funny businesses," Lucy murmured.
"Do you think they are listening to me? like really?" Lucy smiled at her bestie.
"Mark, leave her, my boy." Jane starts teasing her special Kiddos.
Mark got out of his memories by his Mother's yell. "Umm, Tessa move please," flushed-face Mark whispered. Finally, the show ended.
"We bought gifts" Lucy announced.
"Mom, I'll be in my room."
Mark immediately walked faster to his room.
....
In his room, he called Jack. He wants to check those clips.
Jack answers after two more rings... "Mom will kill me if I pick you up now." Shouting with annoyance.
Dead silence on Mark's side made Jack rethink his words. After a pause, he proceeds..."Will pick you up in the afternoon, ahh I forgot... " Jack stopped mid-sentence.
"Your Breakfast?" suspicious Mark retorted.
"Merry Christmas, Mate," Jack reminisces about his overthinking friend and their childhood Christmas(es) together without any work stress.
Mark finally smiled at his friend's words. Jack, I wish we were still kids.
"Mate, are you there?"
"Yup. Happy Christmas, Jack, avoid the mistletoe at least today." Mark ends the call.
"Someone is jealous"--- Jack has always been a flirt in the gang but he never had a real girl to flirt with because everyone in the town thinks of Jack, as a prankster in a uniform.
Waves of laughter coming from downstairs urge him to go there. You should avoid her at any cost. Mark collected himself.
....
Back in the Drawing room,
There were some reasons for Mrs.Sullivan to get worried about the Greathouse's Fire accident.
She thought Mark didn't know about this but she is the one that didn't know about the actual situation. But she had invited Tessa to make Mark smile once, like in the olden days when his smile reached his eyes.
Mark ended up going downstairs but said nothing.
He does hate Lucy, but why? Jane and Tessa looked puzzled.
Lucy knew everything yet stood still...But spoke after seeing her bestie's worried face.
"The culprit surrendered at the police station," Lucy announced to Mrs. Sullivan.
Now it's Mark's turn to announce no he yells a lengthy What? Mrs. Sullivan asked Mark to be quiet and she thought his yell was because this news was new. But her mind doubts, 'Did Jack forget to tell him?'
Tess knew that something was off with the situation. She dragged Mark as if She wanted cake all of a sudden. Mark smiled because of the sudden hand collision. Mark was annoyed but he had to be silent because his mother and Lucy didn't like his involvement in crime scenes.
Tessa's hands wrapped up his fingers, and he was dragged to the Kitchen. Yet he didn't complain. Mark felt empty after she withdrew her hands. He envied his old self again.
Tessa scurried to the cake and asked him if he wanted a bite, he should answer her questions, yet neglected.
Both decided to stay silent. She wanted to say something even though she was munching her favorite delicacy.
She taunted Mark about yesterday's arrival.
Mark wanted to say it all but ended up saying, "How about we go to a cafe tomorrow?"
What? Where? ... Tessa nodded, enjoying both her cake and the news. She couldn't find a way to say yes, because of a mouthful. Mark heard a hiccup sound, grabbed a water bottle at the table, and handed over it. She drank and said, "I would love to go", still nodding like a small kid.
Jack didn't come to pick up Mark. Instead of seeing (listening) the footage with Jack, Mark spent the day with Tess...Tessa dragged Mark all day was the endgame.
The charming side he used to have before his tragedy, the apple of the eyes of many locals, was reborn after that day.
Mark is now annoyed. Her attentive nature, and her unchanged personality, all are sources.
They talked about all those blissful moments.
He was freest only when his Tess and Lucy left the house after dinner.
Mrs. Sullivan asked him to take a rest because tomorrow 'he will have his first date'. To his embarrassment, she even picked a suit for him.
Tomorrow, yet another surprise for him.
His mom felt like a friend planning a blind date for her best pal. Here it's for her best son.
