Harry POV
When I got home that night, Wendy was in bed. Either way I didn't want to end us that night considering it would be out of no where for her and rude considering it was really late at night.
It's been a few days since everything happened with Quinn, and everything is settling in on what I have to do and when I should. Lately the restaurant has been packed and I haven't had the time to sit down with Wendy. Our schedules are opposite and I don't want to bring up anything until both of our jobs aren't as hectic as it is now.
It's Monday morning and I'm making myself tea before heading to the restaurant to do some billing stuff. I look to the doorway and see Wendy walking in. Her blonde hair is pulled back into her usual messy bun, and she's wearing a white shirt with black stripes. Her jeans are high waisted and she's wearing her converse that are also white.
"Good morning." I greet her with a friendly smile.
"Morning," She says with a gentle smile. Wendy sits at the counter and looks at me then her fingers. "Got a moment to talk?"
"Yeah, I'm just making tea. Want any?" I ask.
"No, I'm good thanks." She says sweetly. I nod and pour the hot water in my travel mug.
"What's up?" I ask while screwing the lid shut after making my tea.
She stays silent for a brief moment, which causes my eyebrows to furrow. Her eyes look away from my stare and to her fingers that start tapping against the counter.
"I think it would be best if we break up." Wendy says after a few moments of silent. My head tilts by her words.
"What?" I ask, slightly confused but also relieved.
"I think we should, you know, break up," Wendy says while looking up at me. Her voice is soft and timid sounding. "We both have different career paths and it's hard manage time for us when I can barely have time to breath. My life is my job, and I don't think right now I should be in a serious relationship."
I remain silent for a moment to just let what she said sink in. I feel bad that I didn't notice how stressed and unhappy she was. "Oh," I say. "I want you to be happy, so if this will be making you more happy and stress free then okay."
"I know this may seem out of no where, but I've been thinking about it for a while and I think it would be for the best." Wendy explains shortly. Her gentle blue eyes look at me and I just smile softly back.
"I understand Wendy." I say honestly.
"No hard feelings?" She asks.
"Of course. I want what's best for you." I say while sitting beside her at the counter. I rest my hand on top of hers and squeeze it gently.
"I was planning on moving in with my sister who has a two bedroom apartment. So just give me a few days to move out." She tells me.
"Are you sure you don't want the condo? I can find a place." I offer.
"No, this was your place before I moved in. Plus, my younger sister can't really afford the rent so I'll be helping her," Wendy says. I nod and run my fingers through my hair. "Anyways, I know you have to get to work so I'll let you go."
I reach for my keys and wallet that's a few inches away from me and slip them into my jacket pockets. "I'll be home around sixish. I'll still make dinner." I tell Wendy who tilts her head at me.
I leave the condo a few minutes later feeling happy about the choice she made, but also curious to how it actually happened. I wasn't expecting to start being single today.
I get into my car a few minutes later and decide to stop somewhere before work.
Quinn POV
I decided that tomorrow I'll go to the house. I need my sketches and my belongings. I hope Derek got the hint to move out so I can sell the house. I might have my Dad come with me because there is a high chance Derek will be home.
As I'm grabbing my belongings as I'm getting ready to leave for work, I hear the door bell ring. My eyebrows furrow by the sound and I talk to the front door as I put on my coat.
I slowly pull open the wooden door and my eyes land on a delivery man who's tall and has a smile on his lips. "Hello." I greet the stranger.
"Hi, are you Ms. Adams?" He asks while looking down at a clip board then back up at me.
"Yes, why?" I ask kindly with a tilted head.
He reaches down towards the part of the patio I can't see. The man soon stands up straight and I see a bouquet of tiger lilies that are white and pink as well as roses. He extends me over the large bouquet and tells me the card is attached to one of the flowers in the front.
Eventually I walk away from the delivery man after saying thank you, and set the flowers down on the counter in the kitchen. They're really beautiful and unexpected. I don't even know how to react.
I read the card that comes with it and feel my heart swell.
