Chapter 63
Chapter 63: Switched
"What's the plan?" Caspian asked, walking out of the bathroom, shirt in hand instead of on him.
I shifted my focus away from Janet's phone. "We need to put this in her bag and make it look like it was there the whole time, she just didn't notice."
"We should probably wait for the battery to die," Caspian suggested.
I nodded my head and turned the brightness up to a hundred percent, hoping that would make the battery run out quicker.
"Do I need to dress your wounds?" I gulped nervously, looking at the perfect abs that were covered in long red gashes.
Caspian shook his head. "They're almost healed."
I raised an eyebrow at him.
"Fine, it's semi-healed," he shrugged.
I continued to give him the death stare.
"It's starting to heal?" He scrunched his nose.
"That's better." I raised from my perch on the corner of the bed, and bopped his nose.
"Better get changed." Caspian looked me over taking in the fact that I was dressed in his T-shirt and a pair of his striped boxers.
I groaned. "I haven't been to school in like..." I counted on my fingers, but struggled to remember just how long ago I had fled from home, intending to 'never' go back.
"We need to leave the phone," Caspian argued.
"I know," I confessed. "But it still has battery left."
"How much battery power is still on there?"
I looked at the screen, before holding up a handful of fingers, to indicate five minutes.
"Shouldn't be long," Caspian told me, guiding me towards the bathroom. "As much as I love seeing you raid my closet, you need to wear something that actually fits you."
I playfully stuck my tongue out at him. Caspian shook his head and sighed. "What am I going to do with you?" he enquired.
"Kiss me," I suggested, batting my eyelashes.
"Get changed first," he ordered.
"Fine," I succumbed, reaching for my backpack.
"Hurry up." Caspian made a rolling motion with both his hands.
"Fine," I repeated, causing Caspian to shake his head again.
I tilted my face up towards the spitting showerhead, letting the cold water wake up my sleeping muscles. I rubbed soap into my hair, for lack of shampoo. I hadn't thought far enough ahead to bring shampoo with me, and I didn't approve of how 'Men shampoo' smelt. I had tried Caspian's shampoo once and had spent the whole day surrounded by the smell of soapy after shave. Not that I didn't like the way Caspian smelt; but it was like the shampoo was made specifically for him. It mingled well with his natural scent, to create a heavenly smell.
I stepped out of the bathroom, with a towel wrapped around my head. Like always my head felt too heavy with the extra weight of the towel. It was an effort to keep myself from tipping over, but the effort was necessary if I didn't want to risk getting water on the wooden floors of Caspian's bedroom.
"Whoa!" Caspian exclaimed as I fell into his chest.
"Oops," I said apologetically, as the towel untangled itself from my hair. Well, that was a waste. Caspian gripped my arms and helped me right myself.
"Ready to go?" Caspian asked me.
"My hair's wet," I stated, making up the first excuse that came to mind.
"And that prevents you from going to school because..." Caspian raised an eyebrow, and I was beginning to think he was finding this amusing.
"I look ridiculous," I pouted.
"I actually think you look sexy," Caspian disagreed. "But then again you always look sexy," he whispered close to my ear.
Oh no. I could see what he was trying and there was no way I was falling for his charms, not again. "Why can't you just go?" I enquired.
"And leave you here?" he asked.
Staying in the headquarters of horror was better than going to the school of horror. I nodded my head.
"You'd think I was the disciplined one." Caspian feigned impatience.
"Now you are," I smiled sweetly. "The roles have been switched."
"But I need something to distract me from losing my head during Math," Caspian said seductively. "But I guess Amber's always there," he teased.
"Yip," I agreed, knowing he had no intention of ever going out with Amber again. As soon as that single word had left my mouth, Caspian swept me into his arms and started carrying me out the room.
"I'm taking you with me, whether you like it or not," he stated.
I sighed in defeat, knowing there was just so long that I could put off going to school.
