Chapter 59
Chapter 59: Everyone Meets Their End
"Well, this is useless," I walked over to the bin in Caspian's room. All the chats had been wiped. Which was weird, because Janet already knew I had hacked the phone. So, why would she go through all the trouble? Unless she didn't believe me and wanted to prove that she had nothing to hide.
"Maybe your parents would want to see the phone." Caspian grabbed my wrist, before I could do away with the phone.
"I'm not talking to them," I replied.
"Maybe it's time you did," Caspian stated.
"Are you kicking me out?" I asked. I knew this was coming; I couldn't stay with him forever, well at least not yet.
"You know that's not the case." Caspian placed his hands on my shoulders looking into my eyes. "I don't want you to distance yourself from your parents."
"Bit late for that," I mumbled under my breath.
Caspian held my hair back, so he could kiss my cheek. "If I had it my way." Caspian cupped my neck. "I would keep you here forever."
"I'd like staying here forever," I replied, pressing my forehead to his.
"This is a gang's headquarters," Caspian stated. "Not the safest place in the universe."
"I know," I confessed. "But I can't face my parents. Not yet. Not until I'm able to explain everything to them, about Asher's murder."
Caspian nodded his head in agreement. He was just about to kiss me, when a loud rapping sounded on the door.
Caspian groaned and walked over to see who it was, but before he could get there the door swung open.
"Hey," Lewis greeted. "I'm not interrupting something, am I?" He winked mischievously. He looked much younger than the last time I saw him. It was either due to the fact that he had shaved his beard, or because all the bruises on his face from his time in jail had almost faded completely.
I was just about to tell him it was fine, when Caspian cut me off. "You are actually." Caspian encircled my waist with one of his hands.
"Sorry." Lewis held his hands up in defeat. "Just wanted to know if you guys would like to join us for takeout." He had on a pair of shorts and the top few buttons of his shirt were undone.
"Sure," Caspian replied.
"Really?" Lewis asked. "I would have thought you'd prefer to go back to whatever it was you were doing before."
"Leave them alone." Rosalind's voice sounded somewhere from behind Lewis.
Lewis sighed playfully, knowing arguing with her was a lost cause.
"Chinese?" Lewis asked.
I nodded my head. I had never really tried Chinese food before, except for two-minute noodles if that counts. I had always wanted to see what all the hype with Chinese food was about, and now was as good a time as any. .
"We'll be down in a minute," Caspian told Lewis.
Rosalind appeared next to Lewis, and threading her fingers through his led him away. Her ponytail swayed from side to side as she walked away.
Caspian shut the door directly after they had departed. "So, where were we?" he enquired.
"I don't remember." I pursed my lips, before brushing past him and opening the door he had just closed.
"You coming?" I enquired, leaning my body against the door frame.
Caspian smirked. "I'd follow you to the ends of the earth."
"You're only saying that because there is no end to the earth," I teased.
"Everyone meets their end someday." Caspian was suddenly serious. "I hope I meet mine before yours, so that I never have to live without you."
He came closer and angled his body towards mine, so that my front was pressed against his chest and my back was against the doorframe.
I put my fingers to his lips. "Don't say things like that." I scolded.
"I'm just saying nobody knows when their end will be," Caspian explained, running the tips of his fingers up and down my back. "I mean, look what happened to Asher."
