Chapter 55
Chapter 55: Sleeping Beauty
The rays from the sun hit my face with unforgiving force. I wished I could welcome the sun as a friend, but I couldn't. My eyes felt like they were glued together, and there was a sour taste in my mouth. All I wanted to do was sleep. I groaned loudly and rubbed my sore eyes.
The sun was high in the sky and the cobalt blue sky was dotted with fluffy, cumulus clouds. The clouds looked like they'd make comfortable beds. The morning offered the promise of a fresh day, free from any mistakes just yet.
"Hey, Sleeping Beauty." Caspian's voice was husky and seductive. His eyes were on the verge of closing again and his mouth was slightly open, inviting. He leaned on one elbow and met my eyes.
"How long have you been up?" I looked to the side of the bed and was surprised to see that there was no alarm clock.
"A while," he replied. "I was going to wake you, but you looked peaceful. I can't understand how a girl can look so cute while sleeping."
I blushed. "It's not all girls, just me."
"Really?" Caspian asked. "I was referring to girls in general."
I playfully smacked his shoulder. He chuckled.
"You're a cuddler," Caspian told me, giving me a lopsided smile.
My face reddened by like fifty shades.
"Only speaking the truth," he told me, bringing his face closer to mine.
"Did you get into trouble for letting me stay?" I enquired.
He shook his head. "There were a few confused expressions, when I carried an unconscious girl in here, but it was fine," he replied. "Not the first time I've hauled your sleeping body up these steps."
I blushed at the memory of the last time I woke up here; it was also under pretty bad circumstances.
"You want to go to school?" Caspian asked me.
I shook my head, causing him to laugh. "My parents probably camped out at the school, hoping to catch me there."
"Know another way we can spend this day?" he asked.
"We can get Janet's phone fixed," I suggested.
Caspian growled, hoping for a different answer.
"What did you have in mind?" I asked.
"We haven't been on many dates," Caspian replied.
"We can get the phone fixed and then go on a date." I smiled at his enthusiasm to spend time with me.
"Better get out of bed then." He set the example by hoping off the bed. The mattress rose upwards, unhindered by his weight anymore.
"There's only one way to wake Sleeping Beauty up." I closed my eyes and stilled my body, acting as lifeless as I could.
I heard Caspian walk around the bed to kneel by my side. I felt his finger brush across my face, sweeping my hair to the side. Caspian lightly pressed his lips to mine and kissed me gently.
"Am I Sleeping Beauty's true love?" He pressed his forehead to mine.
"She woke up, didn't she?" I opened my eyes and smiled back at him.
