Chapter: 16
After Adam has left I start gathering all the information which I need before I will share my idea with him.
Adam is giving his resignation today, and I have seen how this small step has brought a sense of confidence back in him. The feeling of taking control of your life really brings a big change in any person.
And I want him to take full control of his life and career and don't want him to depend on anyone else. That's what I have in my mind for him.
By my fourth cup of coffee, I have sorted out everything now I just have to convince Adam. I have full belief in him and his capabilities and I hope he does, too.
It is nearly the afternoon when Adam returns home.
"You are home?" He looks surprised to me see me home, as normally I am at work.
"Yeah, took a day off." I shrug and I greet him with a hug.
"How did everything went?" I ask him.
"Oh, man, they were pissed." He laughs, "But I am actually glad I did that."
"Let them rot." Pulling his face down, I kiss his smile a few times which makes him laugh again.
I love his laugh, but then I love everything about him.
"What should we do today?" He loosely places his arms around my waist, "Should we go out for a movie or something like lunch or dinner?" He raises his eyebrows.
"Actually, we will stay at home and plan what we have to do next." Pressing my lips together, I nod my head.
"We can't plan anything, because first I have to find a job. I have talked to some people, too, hopefully, I will find a job soon. Until then I am on a vacation." He shrugs.
"Well, no mister." I wave my finger, "You are not on any vacation and you are starting work from today."
"What?" He frowns, then his face hardens, "Hannah, I am not working for your dad-"
"Hold on." I place a hand on his chest, "You are not working for anyone. And trust me, dad will never give you a job if I have asked him."
My dad is really strict and never favors anyone. Once he even deducted my pay because I used the office phone for personal calls. I only lasted one month at his office, because he fired me from my part-time job of running errands when I was in high school. And I was glad because I wanted to try my hand in fashion designing just like mom. While Abigail is more into the business even though she is sixteen but she has brains and also she is dad's favorite so she follows him everywhere.
"Adam, you are going to start your own legal consultancy firm." I smile at him, "You don't need to work for anyone."
"Hannah, it is not easy, I can't just start a firm like that." He laughs at me.
Crossing my arms, I press my lips together in annoyance.
"If you are done with laughing then shall we get to work?" I arch my eyebrow at him.
"You are really serious?" He asks in disbelief.
"Totally." I give him a curt nod, "I know you are qualified and experienced, then why you should waste yourself by working for someone else when you can start your own firm."
"You are going to do the same work, but instead for someone else, you are going to work for yourself at your own terms." Walking to the coffee table, I open my laptop, "I have searched everything, and I have even mapped out how you can start your own firm, I just need you to look at it."
He looks at me, for a moment, then takes my laptop from my hand.
Sitting on the couch he starts going through all the information which I have collected. Honestly, I am proud of my hours of research work. It almost looks like a professional proposal.
Well, I did take some help from my little sister, as she is smart in all these sorts of things. Sometimes, she almost behaves like an adult, and then the other moment she does something which makes me realize she is still my baby sister.
The concentration with which Adam is reading everything ignites hope inside my heart. Getting his attention is the first step if still, he is unconvinced, then I will have to find some way to convince him. Because I am not backing out so easily.
"You have really thought through all this, huh?" A small smile plays on his lips, as his eyes shift between me and the screen, "This is all you were doing last night when you said you are working on some important project?" He arches an eyebrow.
"Yes, I was not lying." I shrug and sit beside him as I point at the screen, "I was working on your future plan, which means I was working on our future plan. So, it is definitely the most important project for me." I lightly laugh.
He pulls me to his side and kisses my temple. He keeps holding me, then after a while, he speaks.
"Hannah, I don't know if I can do this." He sighs, "I have never thought about opening my own firm. Even if I want then how am I going to arrange the finances, etc? There are a lot of things that we need to take care of."
"Everything will be managed, just take the first step." I hold his hand, "Let's take one day at a time, I am sure everything will be sorted."
"Adam, just think like this that you have nothing to lose and you already have a backup plan... I mean if things don't work then you can surely get a job it is not like that doors will be closed." I shrug, nonchalantly.
Even though he has a backup option but I know I don't have to think much about that as he will definitely succeed.
Pulling his lower lip between his teeth he looks at me, suddenly reminding me of a child who needs assurance.
"Do you think it will work, I mean that I can do this? Start my own firm?" There is a vulnerability in his eyes. He wants to make it happen, but he has doubts.
"It doesn't matter what I believe, Adam, what matters is that do you believe in yourself? You are going to be the one who will take every step, I am just going to be there to support you." I look into his eyes, "Life is all about faith and belief, the first step to success is believing... believing in yourself and believing in your dream. You can only achieve your dream if you work towards it without any kind of doubt or second thoughts."
"I don't know whether this idea will be successful or not, but what I know is that you will be successful no matter what path you will choose." I smile, "I believe in you, and I know you will be able to achieve whatever you want because you are the best."
"You have this much faith in me?" He glances at me, completely shocked.
"Yeah, you are my husband if I will not have faith in you, then who else will." I hold his face in my hand, "I trust you, but now it is time that you should trust yourself."
"How did I get so lucky?" He smiles and places his hand over mine.
"Partially, because of your cute smile." I laugh, "When you smiled, I was sure I am not letting this handsome guy with a cute smile go anywhere. I already made up my mind if anyone is going to claim him, that will be me."
"Yeah, and also because you are a good guy." I suppress my smile, "I don't deal with jerks as I am not as such into bad guys."
"You should not be into any others guys, whether good or bad," He playfully glares at me, "You should be only into one guy and that is me. Understood?"
"Yes." I nod my head controlling my threatening laugh.
But not a moment has gone when I burst out laughing as I watch Adam struggling to keep his face straight as even he is on verge of laughing.
We both can laugh together for no reason. It is like one will start laughing and the other will join them.
"Thank you, Hannah, for being my support," he says after our laughter subdues, "I will try my best to never let you down." Sincerity is written all over his face while his eyes shine with determination.
"I know you will not." I wrap my arms around him in a hug, "And never forget, you will always have my support in whatever you do. Because I know you will always do the right thing."
