Two Minutes
The vibration in my pocket made the random letters appear on the Slide I was working on. I fish out the culprit from the pocket of my dress pants. The gold smartwatch which I'd forgotten to wear after I eliminated the semisolid waste material from my digestive tract this morning had stopped vibrating before I turned it off. I brought it closer to my face to see what's going on.
My eyebrows furrowed.
My eyes blinked multiple times.
"Two minutes?! Soulmate?! Who the hell hacked–"
My mouth fell open as a memory came rushing, making me run towards the elevator. Almost a year ago, my 73-year-old neighbor – bless her soul – gave me this smartwatch as a Christmas present. Since we were the only residents on the top floor of the building, she became my third grandmother. Meanwhile, I was her only granddaughter. She told me back then that I should not make this watch get wet if I want to meet my soulmate.
Obviously, I believed her.
I remembered laughing sarcastically while rolling my eyes which gave me a handprint on the right arm. I clutched the watch tightly when I entered the elevator, frantically pressing the close button before hitting the G. Thankfully, I was alone with my confused thoughts and the loud thumping of my heart.
"Is this really happening?"
"Should I believe granny number three? This is crazy. I'm crazy!"
If soulmate was really a thing, there was only one person I was pretty sure was my soulmate and I had to see him in one minute and thirty seconds.
Dammit!
As soon as I could fit in the opening of the elevator, I ran towards the cafeteria where my best friend was supposedly working. A few feet away, I saw him dashing out and our eyes met. I gave him what I think was the sweetest smile.
God, this handsome man is my soulmate.
"Sorry, Ria." He didn't stop walking but lifted his hand to show me his smartwatch.

Soulmate
Before I could process what I saw, he disappeared in the elevator where I came from. I didn't know how long I stared at the closed door until the realization hit me like a bullet train and I stumbled backward.
He wanted to meet his soulmate and it wasn't me. He didn't think that it was me. What a fool I am. Tears fell at the same time the timer went off and a broad chest appeared in front of me.
"Ria?"
My blurred vision traveled upward and my mouth fell open for the second time. Without any warning, the guy pulled me towards his broad, intoxicating and warm body. For two minutes, I forgot that I was engaged – arranged to marry – to this guy whom I only met once in the Zoom last month. He's here. He kissed my hair and I wrapped my arms around him like we'd known each other forever.

Oh my gosh! I thought I couldn't finish it on time. Did you like it? It's been ages since I write a story out of the prompt.
Thank you for reading.
