Chapter 6: Does This Count As Kidnapping?

School's back, but Brooke isn't. She told me she's staying at New York for three more weeks. Now I'm here all alone, as she's having fun in New York. I'll have an evil smile on my face when she has to face the schoolwork she missed. Since then I've been hanging out the library when I can to do my homework or to read. This will be the last place the guys would look for me, this is my territory.

Luis and Dean appearing in front of me, sitting opposite of me. I jumped back in surprise, why are they here? This is suppose to be my sacred spot.

"Well hello there Autumn." They said in unison wearing a wicked grin.

"Hi Luis, Dean." I said, barely looking up at them.

"What are you doing?" Luis asked.

"Finishing up my homework, something you could never do without any help."

Dean said. "Dude, do you need ice for that burn?"

"Shut up."

"What are you guys doing here? This is my base, you guys can't go into my territory." I said, doing one last math problem.

"This is a library."

"Exactly," finally finished and packing up my stuff. "This is like holy ground to you demons, you can't go here. Why are you here?"

"We're bored." Luis answered, already healed up by the 3rd degree burn I made.

"Then go to Wyatt or Cyrus."

"They went somewhere, family matters." Dean explained.

I have this feeling family matters is some kind of code word.

"Then why are you here?"

"You're fun."

I looked up from putting my folder in my bag. "I'm... fun?"

"Well yeah. You already burned Luis twice," Dean said.

"And kicked a soccer ball into Dean's guts, you're fun."

"So you think I'm fun because of that?"

"Most girls aren't like you little Autumn." Dean told me as he ruffled my hair.

"Their all make up, and gossip, bleh." Luis made a face. "And you aren't all that, you're funny, you're not scared of us, and you're pretty cute."

I tried not to blush on the last part.

"So I'm like your uh, friend?"

"Yeah!" They said, nodding.

Dean linked my arm around mine, making me stand up. Then Luis slinged my backpack around his shoulder.

"Now let's go!" Dean said as we ran out the library.

"Where?" I asked.

"Anywhere fun!"Luis said as he linked my other arm.

Then they started to skip as they sang, "We're off to see the wizard. The wonderful wizard of Oz!"

Kids watched in confusion on why I'm hanging out with two of the Big Four. The four baddest kids in school, Wyatt, Cyrus, Dean and Luis. I was practically dragged by them as we ran around the school. Does this count as kidnapping?

After lunch is English, Luis and Dean aren't in my class. But they sat at either side of me in class. I was hoping Mr. Ortega will kick these two out of class, but it ended up he had a substitute. She was a petite lady, with her back hair tied to a bun and big spectacles.

"Hello, my name is Ms. Bates, Mr. Ortega called in sick today so I'll be substituting him today." She introduced. "First roll call."

Maybe she'll kick Dean and Luis out of here.

"Joey Shelton."

"Yo."

"Darcie Little."

"Present.

"Autumn Griffin."

I raised my hand. "Here."

"Iman Moran." But she pronounced Iman, i-ma.

Dean casually raised his hand, "Over here. And it's pronounced, ee-man."

I looked around, no one bothered to tell Ms. Bates Dean isn't Iman. Iman is sitting at the back of the class, and he didn't tell either. But then I realized Dean's one of the Big Four. The nickname for the four baddest boys in school. No one would dare do it. I sighed and put my hands to my face, this period's going to suck.

Luis snorted. "I-ma Moron. I'm a moron."

"Well that's true, don't you think?"

Luis figured out his mistake and slid lower to his seat. The whole class began to snickered, I couldn't help but chuckle too.

"Okay then, Ashlynn Burke?"

Ashlynn didn't say here, then I remembered she moved away. There was no one else absent other than Ashlynn. I wonder what Luis will do or else he will be kicked out of the class, not that I'm complaining. Dean suddenly crumpled up a piece of paper into a ball then threw it at Luis' head.

"Here!" Luis said.

Ms. Bates looked at Luis then at the chart. "You're Ashlynn? Ashlynn is marked as a girl here."

Luis looked at Dean and I for help. Both of us shrugged, we don't know what he could do. All I could do was I mouthed to him, Use your brain.

He sighed, "I can't believe I'm doing this, but I'm doing it for you Autumn," he muttered.

He crossed his arms and cocked his hip to the side. "Well is that a problem, MsBates?" Luis demanded in I think a poor impression of a gay lisp.

My jaw dropped, I can't believe this is actually happening.

"Excuse me?"

Luis looked at his nails. "Well I wasn't always, this- he motioned to himself- I was always so different from the other girls. So my mum and pops finally let me have the surgery that showed the real me. Do you have anything against people like us?"

I wanted to slam my head on my desk numerous of times. Don't laugh Autumn, I reminded myself. You'll mess everything up.

Ms. Bates was speechless. "Well I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you."

"Well you better not." Luis snapped her fingers, then sat back down.

Ms. Bates when back to attendance then started the lesson. The rest of the period I had to bite my lip, as Luis had to continue to play his role. He would keep on making a duck face, crossed his legs like a girl, and even read some girl's magazine he stole. She would call on Luis who would talk in the gay lisp and kept on saying "like" or "lol."

I looked at Dean mouthing, This is hilarious!

He nodded, I'm videotaping this, right now!

He showed me his phone. I waved hi to the camera.

When the bell rang, Ms. Bates immediately dismissed the class. When we walked out I hugged Luis, who swung me around.

"That was genius!" I squealed. "I can't believe you did that!"

"I know, me too!"

"I am so glad I video taped this." Dean said.

"What?" Luis stopped swinging me around and set me back on the ground.

Dean showed Luis his phone then put it into his pocket.

"I will kill you!" Luis threatened. "Delete it before I delete you."

"And let Wyatt and Cyrus miss it? No way!"

Dean grabbed my hand and we raced to next period, chemistry. We arrived just in time, with another substitute teacher for Mr. Craig. Dean and Luis are really lucky today.

"Today we'll be mixing solutions." Mr. Norris said. "Now team up into twos."

Luis immediately sat next to me and stuck his tongue out at Dean.

"Um, Mr. Fleming, is it?" Mr. Norris asked Dean.

"Yes sir?" Dean asked.

"Since we have an uneven number of students, would you join Ms. Griffin and Mr. Dawson?"

"Sure."

Dean sat next to me and stuck his tongue at Luis. I chuckled, they can be so funny.

"There are different elements, you may only choose three including water." He explained. "With your textbooks you must find different types of solutions that will make different reactions. Don't forget to record your data, one person will do that, while the other will mix the solutions."

"I'll write down the data," I volunteered. "I don't think anyone could read any of your handwriting."

Dean picked up three random liquids with water and set them on the table.

"Why did you choose this small beakers for?" Luis asked Dean.

"It's not that small." I said, calming Luis down.

"Fine you want the big beaker? Fine, they're bigger than your's anyway." Dean said.

Dean grabbed the biggest beaker off some other kids table. They did nothing to stop him of course. I sighed, and gave them two of our other beakers.

"Okay, let's see what we have," I said with pencil in hand. "One big and small beaker."

Luis and Dean snorted.

"Seems fitting for the two of you..." I added.

They looked at each other. "She meant you," they said in unison.

I shook my head then went back to writing down the notes. "We have water which is liquid, sodium iodide which is a solid, hydrogen peroxide which is also liquid and potassium which is one of the elements 19, K, a solid."

"Well let's get to work." I said, finishing up the notes. "Let's see if we can find any solutions with these chemicals in the textbook."

"Boring." Luis and Dean said in singsong together.

"What?"

"Going by the book is boring. Let's just mix it." Dean said.

"But there are safety precautions. We don't know what could happen if we mix the wrong chemicals, it could cause an explosion."

Luis winked. "Exactly."

"I'll go first, then." Dean said as he picked up the hydrogen peroxide and the sodium iodide.

"Dean really, you could get work."

"Oh c'mon," Dean said. "No one really died in chemistry did they?"

"Actually in the year '96 the whole class including the teacher died when this kid got his hands on red phosphorus and put it in water. No one was wearing gas masks so everyone died in 30 seconds, the whole school had to be evacuated." I said, as I was reading down the list of solutions possible for our chemicals.

The whole class stopped working and looked at me. I looked up from the textbook. "Don't worry, they got rid of the smoke. Well I think they did..."

Luis pinched my cheek. "Then we'll make sure to not put red phosphorus with water, okay little Autumn."

"I'm not that little," I protested. "I'm only just an inch or two shorter than most people."

"And that makes all the difference." Dean said.

"I need to get taller," I muttered to myself.

"I'm going to use the big beaker." Dean said as he grabbed it.

At the same time Luis grabbed hold of it. "That's unfair. I want to use it."

"Well I got it first," Dean said as he pulled it towards him.

But Luis pulled it back. "It was my idea to get it."

"I'm going to use it."

"No I will."

"No, I will!"

They turned to me. "Autumn!"

I sighed. "What if we take turns." I suggested. "You guys can use either beaker, then when the experiment is done you switch beakers. Okay?"

They looked down on the floor.

"Yeah."

"I guess that would be okay."

"Good. Dean, you go first." I said.

He poured the hydrogen peroxide into the big beaker. He then put the the sodium iodide into some water then stirred.

What he was doing seemed a bit familiar to me. "You do know what you're doing, right?"

Dean rolled his eyes. "It's just pouring some stuff in the same glass. What's more to it?"

He poured the sodium solution into the beaker. All three of us watched, slowly it began to rise.

"What's it doing?"

"It's not going to do what it think it's going to do right?"

"Oh no," was all I could say.

It began to foam and rise up the beaker. Then it poured out of it, in this foamy substance. All three of us got foamed in the face. Everyone was watching what was happening, even the substitute. Then I started to giggle as I looked at Luis and Dean's foamy faces. Then I couldn't take it anymore and I doubled over laughing crashing into the floor.

"Autumn, why are you laughing?" Dean asked, chuckling.

Luis spit out some of the foam. "Are you okay?"

"Elephant toothpaste! ELEPHANT TOOTHPASTE!" I screamed as I laughed, tears coming out of my eyes.

Luis and Dean looked at each other. "Elephant toothpaste?"

"You made elephant toothpaste, and did you guys see your faces?!" I said, between gasps of air. "You guys look ridiculous!"

"Says Santa Claus." Luis said, referring to my foamy beard.

I threw a piece of elephant toothpaste at Luis.

"Well look who's talking, Squidward." I said, calming down a bit.

"Guys, guys, you don't want to make anymore of a mess."

All three of us looked at the beaker that covered the whole table of elephant toothpaste.

"Nah." We said in unison.

"Foam fight!" Dean and Luis scream in unison.

They started to throw the elephant toothpaste everywhere. Soon everyone joined in, throwing bits of foam at each other. Making foam mustaches and foam castles and snowmen. Mr. Norris couldn't do anything to stop us, so he raced out the room.

I got a hold of some foam and plopped it on top of Luis' head. He returned the favor put some foam on my head too. Then I felt a pair of arms wrapping around my waist, it was Dean carrying me up.

"Eeek! Stop, what are you doing?!

But all Dean did was laugh evilly. "Mwah ha ha ha!"

I was about to get elephant toothpaste on my face by Luis when the door burst open.

"What is the meaning of this?" Principal Fowlman demanded.

Dean instantly dropped me on the floor, the foam sort of cushioned my landing.

"Foam fight?" Luis answered weakly.

"Who started this mess?"

Everyone looked away from the three of us, no one would dare tell on Dean and Luis. I sighed, it was my fault in the first place. I should have stopped them when I could. I might as well turn myself in, saying I started it. I don't want the two of them to be expelled especially with the record they have.

I stood up, not caring that I look like a foam monster. "I-"

Luis out his hand over my mouth. "I was the one who started it."

"Actually we both did," Dean corrected him. "But I was the one who made the foam."

Principal Fowlman, a short, plump man with a huge bald spot on top of his head. Lots of people guess he's in his 50s, with graying black hair, not that he has any. He always wore cheap, flashy clothes like plaid or striped suits.

He glared at Dean and Luis. "I knew it would be you two. Why are you in this class anyway?"

"Well... We kind of pretended we were some absent kids." Luis said, sheepishly smiling.

Principal Fowlman looked at Mr. Norris. "Is this true?"

"I-I didn't know, I'm just a sub." Mr. Norris stammered.

"You two, you're coming with me." He said. "When I get through with you two-"

"Wait," I said, pushing Dean away. "Mr. Fowlman, it was really-"

"A shame that I didn't get to my experiment yet." Luis finished, cutting me off.

He got two pieces of potassium, and grabbed a vial of water.

I suddenly remembered doing an extra credit project of the element chart and their reactions to other substances. Potassium and water isn't a good thing.

"Luis don't!" I exclaimed.

But it was already too late. Luis dropped the potassium into the vial of water. The beaker started to shake violently and then there was a loud bang! There was a huge explosion, white smoke burst into the air. Everyone got down to the floor at the sound of the explosion, then ran to the door. Everyone was out, coughing from the smoke. Then I looked around in panic, only Dean was beside me.

"Where's Luis?!"

The door burst open, white smoke rolled out of the room. Luis came out of the room, his face probably covered with black soot.

He coughed. "Don't put potassium in water either." He said weakly.

Then the sprinkler system went off. I heard shouts of complaints coming from the other classrooms.

"Rodriguez. Stinson. My office. Now." Principal Fowlman ordered.

I looked at the two of them. "No-"

Luis ruffled my hair, messing up my bangs in front of my face. Dean pinched my cheek, making it hurt. Both of them wore a wicked grin and walked towards the office.

"But..."

"We had fun." They said, wearing a smile. "You were fun."

I couldn't help but smile back. "Yeah, it was fun."

That was a really awesome filler chapter to write. I kept on grinning to myself like an idiot while writing this. I have a lot of guy friends, so I kept on imagining the perfect guy friends for Autumn. Luis and Dean are like the stooges in the book, the funny and overprotective guys who see Autumn as a little sister.

I had to look up a lot of stuff to find the right chemicals and reactions. At first I wanted to had Luis accidentally make this thing called the piranha solution and accidentally spill it on a plant. The reaction would be a super violent, with a huge explosion. But then I wanted to find something... fun, and I found the elephant toothpaste.

Dean Rodriguez is on the right. Also I forgot to mention about the picture of Autumn Griffin. She wears contacts, but the picture shows her wearing glasses. Well, see you on the next chapter.
