Chapter 11: Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
"Let's go over the plan one more time," Brooke instructed me, her eyes still on the road.
It's 8 o'clock and we're on our way to the party. Everything is set, all my stuff is in Brooke's room. Of course her dad caught her, but since my mom let me go he let us go. But Brooke will be grounded for the weekend for her failed attempt to sneak out. We've been going over this for the past few hours, so I pretty much know it by heart.
"If one of us is drunk, we'll cover for her. If one of us is gone, but texted we're at someone else's place, we'll cover for her," I said, fully memorized the whole plan. "At the next day, we do not have to go over the events that happened the night before. No matter what."
She nodded. "Good."
I frowned, looking down at myself. "I still don't know why you made me change. I liked my own outfit."
Brooke stared at me like I was crazy. "For Pete's sake Autumn, you were wearing a blue jeans, a graffiti t-shirt and your worn down pair of converse!"
"It's just a birthday, I thought I should dress casual." I said with a shrug.
Okay, maybe it wasn't my proudest outfit. But most of my clothes were in the laundry and it seemed to me that was the only outfit that seemed... worthy. When I came to Brooke's house an hour early she screamed like she was in some horror movie. Brooke screamed so loud, her parents screamed and set a car alarm off. Maybe the last one didn't happen, but it should've. Then she dragged me into her lair or bedroom, whatever you prefer to call it, to work her Brooke magic or what I prefer, Brooke hell.
I'm wearing a cute white top that has a black belt strapped around my waist. It also came with black lace sweater that sleeves came up below my elbows and ripped up, denim short shorts. The only thing she let me keep were my favorite pair of black converse that seemed to match my outfit. But only because I also threatened to throw any high heels she offered me out the window. After the high heels fiasco, she did my hair. My hair is naturally straight that comes up to my shoulder blades, but she curled it a bit. Then she did some light make-up, she wanted to do more but I threatened to dump her hair products down the toilet if she put so much as more eye mascara than possible on me.
"Well either that or you had to wear the dress." She reminded me.
I shivered, "Don't remind me."
She purposely gave me the choice to have her choose my outfit or she'll give me a hideous dress that would make any designer jump off a cliff.
"Besides, this is your first party" -she looked at me, telling me I know what she meant- "you should look worthwhile. Besides, you earn it." Brooke smiled. "You finally got Wyatt to get over me."
I shook my head. "No, he still likes you or whatever."
I didn't tell her the deal, of course. She'll disown me as her best friend and pretend I never existed. You never want Brooke's silent treatments. One time she did that to her boyfriend for forgetting her birthday and he broke down, asking her to forgive him. I just told her that while she was away, I became... friends with the Big Four. At first she didn't think believe, I mean who would? The goody two shoes hanging out with the Big Four, the baddest boys in school? But after she heard the rumors of seeing us all hang out, she instantly believed me.
"Autumn look! We're almost there!"
Already I could see blaring lights coming out a big mansion. Johnny Nelson's girlfriend, whoever she is, must be filthy rich. Brooke parked the car down the street and we walked towards the light. Get it, because the party and the house, and- oh never mind. We could already hear the loud music and we weren't even on the front yard yet. There were clusters of people outside, talking or making out. There were bottles of beer and crushed cans were all over the front yard. It's barely 8 and already the place looks like this.
"C'mon Autumn! While the night is still young!" Brooke said excitedly, dragging me to the front door.
Was it me, or was there a bra on that mailbox?
I shook my head, let's try not to over think things Autumn. This is a party, I should try to have fun. We almost reached the house when a huge guy stepped in our way. Brooke stopped abruptly, making me slam into her since I wasn't looking where I was going.
"And where do the two do you think you're going?" The guy asked.
Brooke raised an eyebrow. "A bumper, seriously?"
The bumper ignored her comment. "You guys think you're going into the party?"
"Yeah," both of us said in unison.
He snorted. "Go home, the party's out of control anyway."
"What!" I exclaimed. "We just got here, and you're kicking us out?"
Brooke sighed, then grabbed my arm. "Let's go, Autumn. Maybe it isn't too late to watch a-"
I am officially pissed off. I did not go through Brooke hell for nothing. And I need to become a fashionista already or else I'll be stuck in Fashion 101... forever! I jerked away from her grasp and tippy toed to meet the bumper's eyes.
"You do not know what I went through to get here." I said, raising my voice. "Now you are going to let us in the party with a kind smile. Or else I will kick you where the sun doesn't shine and you won't be able to make anymore bumper juniors!"
There was an awkward silence. But the bumper broke it by bursting out laughing.
"Damn girl, you got spunk." He said, grinning. "You and your friend can go in. Enjoy the party."
I smiled. "Thanks." I took Brooke by the arm, "Let's go!"
We walking into the mansion, and the whole place was screaming, "Party!" Thumping loud music was screaming out the huge speakers behind a Deejay. There were people everywhere, dancing, talking or making out. Mostly, and sadly, they were making out. Everyone looked drunk or was about to be, there were kegs everywhere. The place is so crowded and everyone was sweating. I'm already sweating and I just got here! This place isn't the best for the claustrophobic.
"You were amazing Autumn!" Brooke exclaimed. "I'm so going to bring you every time we get to a club."
"When we're old enough," I reminded her.
But she wasn't listening to me, instead she looked like she was trying to find someone. Ow, she wound me.
"Isaac is over by the stairs." She said, giggling. "I'm going to meet up with him, he must have been waiting for me like forever. Is it okay if I head over there?"
I smiled to her. "It's fine Brooke. I'll be okay."
She nodded. "Okay then. Have fun, and don't-"
"Over think things," I finished her.
She gave a final nod then pushed her way through the crowd. I need something to drink, I told myself. I made my way through the crowd, people elbowed and stomped on my feet. After getting a few bruises, I found my way to a table with a keg. I looked around, is there any soda or water here? I promised myself I won't get drunk.
I finally gave up and let my eyes scan the crowd. I saw a few familiar faces, but other than that. I'm alone. Maybe I should done the Fashion 101 extra credit and find myself a date for the party. I sighed, I felt like being in one of those forever alone memes.
I couldn't help but sigh again.
"What's wrong beautiful?"
It must be someone talking to some other girl. So I decided to ignore the voice and continue to look over to the crowd.
"Hello? I was talking to you?"
Still ignoring the voice. The voice isn't talking to me. Just continue to look at the crowd, Autumn. Just look out the crowd.
I felt a poke on my shoulder. "You're stoned or something?"
I flinched, the voice really was talking to me. "Of course not! I didn't know you were talking to me."
"Who else would I talk to? I don't see anyone else beautiful in this room."
This guy might as well hold out a sign saying, flirt. He's probably a senior, a year older than me. He has short black hair with bright blue eyes. He wore a flirty grin that would make most girls faint at the near sight of it. Well most girls, except for me.
I snorted. "That's the best you got?"
He grinned. "Well I got the corny ones like, did you come from Tennessee? Because you're the only ten I see."
"Yawn."
"Do you have a library card? Cause I'm checking you out."
"Like I'm screaming bookworm." I sure felt like opening a book right now, though.
'If you were a burger at McDonald's I'd call you McGorgeous."
"Now I'm just hungry." I hoped he couldn't hear my stomach grumbling over the music.
"Did you fart, because you blow me away!"
I bit my lip to not show that I'm grinning. That one always made me laugh. I calmed down and made a straight face. "That's a huge turn off."
"Did you get hurt... after you fell out of heaven?"
"That's a classic." Everyone knows that, he must be getting desperate.
"Do you believe in love in first sight, or should I walk past you again?"
That one made me laugh. "Okay, that's a new one."
He smiled proudly. "Gotcha!"
I shook my head, smiling.
He leaned on the table, being close to me. "So what's your name, beautiful?"
"Why do you want to know? You'll just do a one night stand and probably forget my name the next day."
He pouted. "You're one of those girls who thing every man is the same? I guess I should be off then, be forever alone." He turned to walk away but I grabbed his arm.
"I'm sorry. I watch a lot of chick flicks, so I can't help but think of that. Don't go."
He smiled. "Well, if you insist..."
I looked at him, something about him was so... familiar. Like I met him before. Maybe it's his voice, or those blue eyes. They weren't as blue as Cyrus's eyes, that's for certain.
"Have I met you before? You seem really familiar to me."
"You don't to me sweetheart." He said with a grin.
Sweetheart. Something about that is so familiar. And it's not about Haymitch when he calls Katniss sweetheart in the Hunger Games. It's probably my imagination.
"So do you want a drink?" He asked me, holding out a red cup to me.
I shook my head. "I promised myself I wouldn't get drunk."
"C'mon, you won't get drunk with one cup."
I looked at the drink, then shook my head again. "No, I can't."
"Tell you what, let's make a deal. One cup for a kiss. Two cups for a dance. And three cups for a date the next day. Deal?"
I eyed him. It seems like a good deal... It's a party, I should take risks. And he seems like a pretty nice guy.
I shrugged. "Sure, why not?"
I grabbed the cup and took a cautious sip. The beer is very bitter and fizzy. But I ignored the taste and drank the whole thing straight down.
"There you go sweetheart!"
He leaned in to give me my prize but pushed on his chest to stop him.
"Not yet," I sang.
I refilled the cup, then chugged it down. The taste was thick maybe, smooth even? I never tasted anything like this, but all I kept thinking was the prize. When I was done, I placed the cup on the table. Everything looked a bit dizzy and so... colorful.
He grabbed my waist. "So it's a dance you want?"
"Nope."
A date is my goal, then Brooke won't have to set me up in any blind dates. I looked at the guy who was looking at something else in the crowd. I don't think he was even paying attention to me. I refilled the bright red cup once more, and filled it with the beer to the rim. Then I drank it down, each gulp felt like my head was going to explode. How were the guys able to drink this? Finally, I drank the last drop of cold beer.
That was when I blacked out.
The first thing I noticed that everything is tipsy. I tried to stand up, but I had to lean on the table to keep my balance. I slowly looked around, everything looked so fast or is it slow? My head started to hurt like hanging upside down for too long. My throat felt parch again.
"I need a drink," I mumbled, stupidly I might add.
Once again, I refilled my 4th cup of beer then drank it straight down. I instantly felt a bit better. My head stopped being lightheaded, but it left races of itself telling me it will be back. The music and talking started to get muffled like I was putting my hands over my ears. That guy I was talking to is gone, had he left or something? My eyes slowly scanned the room and I couldn't find any familiar blue eyes to me. Maybe he went to get me some ice for my headache. Oh he's so kind.
I might as well have a good time. This is a party so I should have fun. I want to dance! I ran to the dance floor and Pon de Replay by Rihanna started to play.
"I love this song!" I exclaimed, but my voice didn't go over the music.
The music took over my body and I started to dance. I'd fist swayed to the music in the rhythm. Then I'd twirl to my right, take two steps to the left, one step forward and two steps back. Repeat.
I started to sing to the music, It goes one by one even two my two. Everybody on the floor, let me show you how we do. Let's go dip it low then you bring it back slow. Wind it up one time, wind it back once more."
People started to watch me dance, a huge circle surrounded me.
"Look at her go!"
I grinned, telling them to join in. Soon a couple came over to my side and started to dance along with me. More people joined, starting to get the moves. So then I started to add a few more, pushing my hand to my side, sliding my right foot to the right and another twirl. People whooped and cheered, even started videotaping.
"Shake it til the moon becomes the sun," I sang then people chorused, "Sun!"
"Everybody in the club give me a run."
"Run!"
"If you're ready to move say it-"
"Yeah, yeah."
"One more time for your mind say-"
"Yeah, yeah."
I stopped, everyone paused to watch me as I looked at the crowd. "Well I'm ready for ya. Come let me show ya. You want to groove im'a show you how to move! Come, come!" Then I went back to dancing with everyone right behind me.
It felt like hours when it was really minutes until the song ended. I escaped the dance floor once the song was done. I tried to find the nearest keg for another drink. My throat is parched from all that moving. I must be a champion when it comes to Just Dance. Everything was still tipsy, so I stumbled and staggered my was through the crowd. I was a couple of feet from a keg when someone bumped into my and I spinned to the other direction.
"No!" I said, dragging the word on as the keg became farther and farther from my grasp.
I slammed into the wall, knocking down a painting from the wall. I gritted my teeth, my head started to hurt again. I stumbled my way to what looked like the kitchen. No one was there except for some couple talking. I ignored them and grabbed the first bottle I found on the counter. It wasn't until someone came into the kitchen looking for his bottle of vodka did I realize what I just drink.
I groaned. "I am such an idiot."
The vodka bottle read Svedka vodka. I started to laugh, it sounded Swedish or German. I instantly remembered Wyatt and his German speaking tongue, so I took another swig of the vodka. The tastes seemed a bit silky, oily even with a medicine after taste. I looked at the couple and the guy was so hitting on the girl. I squinted at the guy, my eyesight must be terrible right now. He looked so familiar, then it hit me.
"Wyatt?" I exclaimed.
The guy's head shot up and stared at me. "Autumn?"
I made a sly smile, it's time to use my drunkenness at an advantage. Man, I feel evil right now. I staggered over to him and punched him on the shoulder. Of course it didn't hurt him, but he looked a bit offended. The girl stared at me as if she is saying, who is she? Then she said it.
"Who is she?"
Wyatt stammered. "I um-"
"Why are you here? Where's your girlfriend you've been dating for five years and is very loyal to you, Brooke Anderson, not with you?" I accused.
Wyatt looked at me then at the girl. "I'm not dating-"
The girl scoffed. "All men are the same!"
I snorted. "Tell me about it."
She stomped on his foot then stormed away. Wyatt was hopping on one foot so I did him the favor and even it out by stomping on his other foot. After a few hops that would put the Easter bunny to shame, he leaned on the wall.
"That was not funny," he said, glaring at me.
I giggled. "Actually, it really was."
He looked at me. "Autumn, are you drunk?"
"Nope," I said, popping the p. Then I took a giant swig of the vodka.
His eyes widened. "Give me that!" Wyatt said, as he snatched my vodka away.
"No!" I whined. "You can't have any! It's mine! Mine!"
I rose to my toes, trying to reach for it. But Wyatt is way taller than me and he held it up into the air. Finally I gave up and leaned against the counter.
"Bully," I muttered.
"Autumn!" I heard two people exclaimed in unison.
I turned to see two figures charging towards me. My first instinct was to run, but I barely managed a stumble until the two tackled me to the ground. Two pairs of arms were hugging me, then pulled me off the floor.
"Autumn, what are you doing here?"
"You look so hot!"
"Are you here alone or with a date?"
"You look so hot!"
"Yo already said that."
"If you weren't like a sister to me, I would so-"
"Hey, are you listening to us?"
I blinked slowly, staring at them. My slow drunk mind can't process any of this fast talking. And my head started to hurt again.
"I need a drink," I grumbled.
Luis grabbed my shoulders and shook me violently. "Autumn! Hello, Autumn!"
"Stop that!" Dean yelled, smacking Luis at the back of his head. "You're hurting her."
I giggled. They're so funny.
"She's drunk," Wyatt said bluntly. "I also confiscated this from her." He held out the bottle of vodka, my bottle of vodka.
I burst out laughing. "Confiscated. That's a funny word. Con-fin-ska-ted."
"Yup, she's drunk."
I felt strong arms lift me up and had me sit on the counter. I swung my legs back and forth, swaying to the music.
"Who did this to you?" Cyrus demanded.
"Um," I looked around the kitchen, there were a few people here.
"There was this really really hot guy who like promised me a date if I drank like three, four cups of beer. He has these blue eyes, but not as blue as yours. And did I tell you he was really hot? Oh look!" I pointed my finger to some couple. "There he is... making out... with that girl over there..."
I blinked. "That broke my heart."
Then I burst into song. "Unbreak my heart! Say you love me again! Undo this hurt you caused when you walked out the door and walked out of my life!" I raised my arms and swayed them in the air. "Un-cry these tears. I cried so many nights! Unbreak my heart. My heart."
"I gonna break more that that guy's heart." Cyrus muttered.
Luis and Dean grabbed the guy's arms and dragged him over to me. When the guy saw me, he had the nerve to give me that same flirty grin.
"Well if isn't Ms. Drunk. I take it you can't hold you alcohol after the third cup?"
"I couldn't hold it until I was at my fourth cup and I drank three fourths of a bottle of vodka," I smirked.
He whistled. "That's a huge turn on."
"You sure have guts," Luis growled.
"No one can get poor Autumn drunk and get away with it!" Dean said.
"Oh, so your name is Autumn. What a beautiful name."
"Why thank you, but is that really the best you got?"
"Let's see-"
Cyrus lifted the guy from his collar. "You have some nerve to still flirt with her while she's in this state."
"She is still here," I reminded him.
"Can't you see I lost April when I turned my back for a second."
"It's Autumn," I corrected. "And you ditched me!"
"And who do you think you are?" The guy demanded, ignoring me.
"You really want to know?" Wyatt challenged.
All four of them were standing in front of him, sizing him up. He looked like shrimp compared to them. And that makes both of us. Then I realized something.
"You're that stalker who cornered me at the alley!" I exclaimed.
"He's what!" The Big Four demanded, Cyrus let go of his collar.
He smirked, facing me. "You've just realize that sweetheart?"
"Yeah I did sweetie!" I said with full on sarcasm. "And I'm gonna do you a huge favor!"
He cocked his head to the side. "Really? What is it?"
"This!"
I kicked him in the royal jewels, making him crumple down the floor in the pain. He cussed every word in the dictionary, some I never even heard before. Note to self: have to search them up in the urban dictionary. Then he crawled away out of the kitchen.
"Good luck having stalker juniors!" I yelled.
After an awkward silence between all of us, we all burst out laughing. I found a lonely bottle of beer and started to drink it. Dean noticed and grabbed it out of hand.
"Stop drinking, Autumn," he scolded, then taking a swig.
I giggled, "Speak for yourself!"
"Man, I love drunk Autumn!" Luis exclaimed, hugging me.
"We love you drunk Autumn!" They all exclaimed.
"And drunk Autumn loves you too!" I pulled them in for a group hug.
"We should take you home Autumn," Cyrus said.
I hopped off the counter. "No, I want to dance!"
"Yeah, let the poor girl dance." Luis said.
"Yeah, let's dance Cyrus," I said, taking him by the hand.
"What?" He jumped back in surprise.
Luis and Dean pushed him towards me.
"C'mon you two love birds. Get your funk on!"
Cyrus glared at the two, making me giggle. "Let's go, CJ!"
He gulped. "Um, okay."
We got into the dance floor and the song Evacuate the Dancefloor by Cascada started to play. Not a chance, I just got here. I don't want to evacuate the dance floor just yet.
Cyrus grabbed my hand and twirled me, making me laugh. The whole dance floor is crowded so we were really close to each other. We started to dance randomly, I was too drunk to care what I was doing. Jumping to the beat, raising my arms into the air. Then waving them around like I just don't care. Cyrus looked like he was having as much fun as I did. He danced along with me, laughing. I probably looked like a drunk idiot having fun to him.
Oh wait, I am!
A couple bumped into me and I crashed into Cyrus. But I grabbed hold of his neck and he held onto my waist to keep me balance. We both smiled and started dancing like that. Cyrus leaned close to me as we dance, I grinned back at him.
"Autumn!" He said, over the music. "I-I want to tell you something!"
"Okay!"
Sadly, we got out of the dancefloor and back to the kitchen. The guys weren't there anymore or anyone else, so it was the two of us. I leaned against the fridge, Cyrus right in front of me.
"So what do you want to tell me?" I asked.
"I've known you for a while know. And I've been dying to tell you something..."
"Yeah?"
He stepped closer to me, leaning on the fridge with both arms on either side of me. I could smell the alcohol in his breath. It's not as strong, so he isn't that badly drunk like me. He stared at me with his bright blue eyes, that looked so caring and protective. He put my hair behind me ear, and smiled making me smile back. If I wasn't because I was so drunk right now, I would kiss him. But the sane me below my drunk conscious told me not to.
"I want to tell you that I really-"
I placed my finger on his lips, he instantly stopped talking. "Hold that thought."
Wyatt left my bottle of vodka on the counter (stupidly I may add). I grabbed it and chugged it down, finishing my beautiful bottle. I reached for another one when Dean snatched it away from my grasp.
"Autumn! Stop drinking!"
Luis ruffled my hair. "It's useless. It's like telling a fat person not to eat."
"I'm not fat," I countered.
"I never said that, our cute little Autumn." Luis cooed.
"You guys finished dancing already?" Wyatt asked surprised, looking at the two of us.
I nodded. "You should have seen us! We were getting out funk on! Right CJ?"
Cyrus smiled. "Y-yeah."
"You should really go home now Autumn!"
"No!" I whined. "I can't!"
"Why not?" Dean asked.
"Because girl's just wanna have fun!" I exclaimed then bolted out the door.
Well imagine like this. The whole house is like a maze, and all the people inside makes up the corriders. So it's hard for four big cats to find one little mouse as sneaky as I am. I ran into the dance floor, at times having to crawl on the floor. I heard them as they called out my name.
"Autumn!"
"Where are you Autumn!"
"This isn't funny!"
"Princess, where are you!"
When I hear that they're far away. I would jump in the air so that they would see me, waving my arms frantically.
Then I would holler, "Bazinga!"
"She's over there!"
"I think I see her!"
"Dammit Autumn!"
After that I would duck and move on to another place. It was like up goes the weasel or something. And it was hilarious. Then the song One Way or Another by Blondie started to play and that just made it more fun. I raced past people, singing the song.
"One way or another, I'm gonna find ya'. I'm gonna getcha, getcha, getcha, getcha." I sang, laughing. "One way or another, I'm gonna win ya. I'll getcha, I'll getcha!"
I miscalculated their whereabouts and accidentally passed by Wyatt. He jumped back in surprised of me almost crashing into me.
"Princess!"
He jumped to grab me but I was too fast for him.
"Sucker!" I said, sticking my toungue out at him.
"Autumn, come back!"
"But girls just wanna have fun!" I eclaimed, then slipped back into the crowd.
Then that gave me an idea. I crawled on the ground since Wyatt's on my tail. And I headed towards the deejay who was doing what deejays do. I walked over to him and saw who the deejay is.
"Bradley?"
Bradley looked up and smiled. "Hey, Autumn! I didn't know you were invited. If you're wondering why I'm here, I do a part time job as a deejay at parties."
"Oh, that's cool!"
"Autumn, are you drunk?"
I shook my head. "No, I want to sing a song."
"Y-you want to sing?"
"Yeah."
I looked into the computer, looking through his soundtrack. Then I found the perfect song I was looking for.
"That one."
"Are you sure?"
"Positive."
"Okay," he said, still not being so sure.
He stopped the music, making everyone stop dancing and looking at him. I noticed Luis, Wyatt, Dean and Cyrus were gathered together, looking at me.
"Sorry, ladies and gents." He said, speaking through a microphone. "We actually have someone who wants to sing. Let's give it up for Autumn Griffin!"
There were a few claps and cheers. Not a lot of people were looking at me. But there were some kids knew me, and some wanted to see how this was going to turn out. A drunk girl singing at the top of her lungs would get a lot of hits in youtube. He handed me the mike then I ran up the stairs so everyone below could see me.
I exclaimed. "I want to dedicate this song for my awesome best friends who are none other than the Big Four, Wyatt, Luis, Cyrus and Dean! This is for you guys!"
There were a lot of gasps, now everyone was faced to me. Some looked at them, not in the eye of course, everyone is still scared of them. I wasn't surprised, I just screamed I'm best friends with the Big Four.
I grinned then pointed at Bradley. "Hit it!"
The intro to Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, the Miley Cyrus version started to play. I honestly like the original with Cindy Lauper, but this version is good for the party. I started to dance to the music.
"I come home in the morning light." I waved my free hand in the air. "My mother says, "When you gonna live your life right?" Oh mother dear we're not the fortunate ones. And girls they wanna have fun. Oh girls just wanna have fun!"
People started to sway to the catchy music, swaying their hands to the side. I slid down the stair banister, and walked onto the dance floor. The crowd parted like the Red Sea, giving me my room.
I hold out my left hand like a telephone. "The phone rings in the middle of the night. My father yells, "What you gonna do with your life?" Oh daddy dear you know you're still number one." I made a number one with my hand, making everyone cheer. "But girls they wanna have fun. Oh girls just wanna have-"
"That's all they really want." I closed my eyes, raising the mike in the air and singing at the top of my lungs. "Some fun! When the working day is done. Girls they wanna have fun! Oh girls just wanna have fun..."
There were a group of girls who were hanging out on the stairs. They must love the song because they sang back up. "Girls! They wanna have fun, girls, wanna have-"
The music played and everyone was dancing. I got on top of the piano then pointed at the guys who were also swaying to the music. Luis and Dean looked enthusiastic while Wyatt and Cyrus looked a bit unsure I should be doing this, but still swayed to the song.
"Some boys take a beautiful girl, and hide her away from the rest of the world." I twirled on the piano. "I want to be the one to walk in the sun! Oh girls they wanna have fun. Oh girls just wanna have-"
"That's all they really want! Some fun! When the working day is done. Girls-they want to have fun. Oh girls just want to have fu-un, they wanna have fun!"
The girls sang the backup once more. "Girls, they wanna have fun. Girl, they wanna have-"
Then all of us sang, "Just want, just wa-ant! Just want, just wa-ant!"
Then the music played again. We repeated the chorus again and again.
"When the working, when the working, when the working!" I said, going down on my knees, pumping my fist into the air. "Day is done. When the working day is done. Oh, girls, they wanna have fun! They wanna have fun!"
The song ended and everyone burst into applause. Everyone was jumping, shouting, I think I even saw a dude crying, but they all loved the performance. I bowed down and those girls who sang the back up bowed down too. I was about to bow down again when strong arms pulled me off the piano. Then I was led back into the kitchen, and they made me sit on the counter. Luis and Dean hopped on top of the counter sitting at either side of me.
"I said this once, and I'll say it again," Luis said. "Man, I love drunk Autumn!"
Dean and Luis hugged me and put both my arms around their shoulders.
"You guys are so awesome!" I said. "You guys are the big brothers I never had!" I planted a kiss on Luis and Dean's cheek.
Wyatt and Cyrus looked at us, making me raise an eyebrow.
"You guys jealous? Or do you guys rather have my 200 dollar kisses?"
"No we're good," Wyatt said.
Cyrus nodded, "Yup."
"Now, we should really take you home."
"No-"
Cyrus and Wyatt stepped in front of me, blocking me from my escape route. Luis and Dean grabbed my waist to stop me from getting away again.
"Aw," I groaned.
"How did you get here?" Dean asked me.
"Brooke." I answered. "We're suppose to go back to the house after the party. But she's hanging out with Isaac."
I watched Wyatt's expression turn from annoyed to pissed off.
I giggled, poking his chest. "You're jealous."
He ignored me. "So you'll go to Brooke's house or yours?"
I shook my head. "Neither. If my mom or Brooke's dad sees me like this, I'll be grounded for eternity. But I can sleep over at a friends, we promised we'll cover for each other."
"The million dollar question," Luis said. "Who'll be the lucky guy to take Autumn home?"
They four of them looked at each other. Then they started to argue who will bring me home. I know, it sounds pretty weird too. They pointed out people who would catch me, where I could sleep and so on. I burst out laughing, making them stop arguing and stare at me.
"You guys are fighting over me. I feel so... special." I said, drunkenly swaying to the music.
"Luis can't take Autumn home, his place is a dump and his mom can pop in any time when she's checking in on him." Dean pointed out. "One time she popped in when-"
"Well Cyrus can't take her, either. He isn't even suppose to be here. He's in house arrest in his own apartment by his own parents. He sneaked out of his apartment for the party." Luis countered.
"Don't even look at Dean." Cyrus said. "The guy has a house full siblings, cousins and even nieces and nephews. Autumn couldn't go through the back door unless she wants to be tackled by and army of kids."
All three of them stopped and looked at Wyatt. Wyatt realize what it means and shook his head.
"No, I can't."
"Yes you can." Dean told him. "You live alone in a condo with no nosy neighbors and a doorman."
"But-"
"Your parents never check up on you and you have the cleanest place ever. And you don't even have a maid," Luis said.
Cyrus didn't say anything. He looked a bit annoyed at Wyatt and the conversation to say anything.
"And you still owe me," I said, hopping off the counter. Then poking on his chest. "I took care of you when you were a drunk. Plus, you were a huge jerk to me."
Wyatt put his down in shame. "Fine."
"Let me text Brooke a lie," I said bluntly.
I pulled out my phone to text Brook.
I'm going to stay over a really good friend of mine, who's a girl. I'm a bit drunk so don't call or text me the next day, I might still have a hangover. Don't worry about me, have fun.
Instantly she text me back.
Okay, I'll cover for you. Don't worry. Hope you're okay.
I magically pulled out a piece of gum in the air. Okay, not really. Brooke had me bring some gum in case I get drunk and have alcohol breath which is a huge turn off to most guys. I ripped the wrapper out, throwing it on the ground then chewed on the gum.
"Let's go now," I said, yawning.
"Aw, is our little Autumn sleepy?" Dean cooed.
"No." My eyes started to droop.
"Luis, help me out will you?" Dean said.
Dean held onto me by my arms while Luis grabbed my legs. I tried to shake them away, I don't want to be carried. Then they dropped me on the floor.
"Ow, my coccyx!"
Luis snorted. "Your what?"
"The tailbone," I said, lying on the floor. "My butt hurts."
Two strong arms scooped me up. Cyrus was carrying me in his arms. I was too drunk and my hurts too much to care.
"You guys can't lift heavy objects if your life was at stake," he grumbled.
Wyatt snorted. "She's letting you carry her because-"
"I didn't get to tell her," he snapped, making Wyatt shut up.
"You didn't tell me what?" I asked that came out a mumble.
"Nothing," Cyrus answered. "Let's get you to the car."
We used the back door of the house and went around the house. I saw a familiar couple kissing at the porch.
I blinked. "Hey, is that Brooke and-?"
"The car isn't that far." Wyatt said, cutting me off.
We arrived to the car. I was getting sleepy so I sat the middle with Luis at my left and Cyrus at my right. Dean sat the front and Wyatt, like always, sat at the front to drive. Dean was the first stop, he lived in a pretty dark neighborhood. His house is the only one that's lights are still on. You can hear squeals and laughter of little kids with TV playing from the house.
"Bye, Dean." we all said in unison.
He looked outside, not looking too excited going home.
"See you guys," Dean he finally said as he walked to his yard where someone is waiting for him.
Dean walked to the lady hesitantly, his arms opened wide looking for a hug. But the middle aged lady started to yell at Dean in rapid Spanish. I took Spanish as an elective so I know a few words, and what she was yelling weren't pretty. Dean tried to talk to her but that made the lady start chasing him around the yard with a broom. Finally Dean calmed who I figured must be his mom, she smacked him in the butt with her broom. Then Dean ran inside the house, rubbing his bottom.
We all burst out laughing. It's official then, I have to meet Dean's mother.
We drove on, Wyatt turned on the radio. I leaned my head on Cyrus's shoulder and started to hum to the song. Cyrus put his arm around my shoulder, and I scooted closer to him. I'm wearing nothing but a tank top and jean shorts, so I'm welcoming the hug. I looked at the rear view mirror and saw Wyatt's glaring at my direction, then looked back at the road.
Soon Cyrus and Luis left at Cyrus's stop. I moved to the front seat, not wanting to be all alone at the back. I looked at them mentally asking them the question.
"They're renovating Luis's place, so he's staying at my house." Cyrus explained.
I nodded, getting it.
Luis ruffled my hair. "Night Autumn."
"If Wyatt does anything, I'm only a phone call away," Cyrus told me.
Wyatt rolled his eyes. "Very funny, CJ."
"I'm serious."
"Night you guys." I said, placing my head on the window.
Then we headed to Wyatt's house. It was an awkward silence, the radio was the only thing filling it. I already threw away my gum at the last stop, now I have minty breath. I caught him sneaking glances at me as he drove. If he kept on staring at me we would be in a car crash by now. I'm still very drunk, I mean who wouldn't be after drink five cups of beer and a bottle of Svedka vodka? That made me laugh. Svedka.
"Something funny?" Wyatt asked me.
"No, something German or Swedish." I replied.
He opened his mouth to say something, then closed it. I know, I wouldn't get me too right now.
Wyatt drove towards a huge condo that was eight of my houses stacked on top of each other. He parked at his assigned parking space and got out the car. He opened the door and lifted me up bridal style.
"I must be really heavy," I muttered.
He shook his head as we walked towards the front of the building. "Actually, you aren't."
"Mm," I said, snuggling my nose into the crook of his neck as I watched a smile form on his lips.
The doorman opened the door for us, not looking very surprised at us. Maybe he's used to it, I didn't like the thought of that. He carried me into the elevator but didn't let me go.
"I can stand up," I told him.
"So?" He countered.
"Wyatt, really."
He sighed and had me stand up. I stumbled a bit, I haven't stood up for a while. But I felt my legs again, then lent on the elevator wall. Wyatt pressed the button to the top floor meaning the penthouse. Maybe Wyatt is even richer than I ever imagine him to be. There was a long silence until I broke it.
"I never kissed anyone before."
He looked at me but didn't say anything.
"And sometimes it's... depressing." I told him. "I just want to get it over with, I just want to kiss someone already. After all these years of watching chick flicks and my friends kissing others, I just don't care anymore. I don't care if my first kiss is the crappiest, grossest kiss in the history of kisses. I don't care who I kissed, if he's my closest friend or a total stranger. I give up!"
Wyatt was listening me the whole time, not daring to say a word. He opened his mouth to say something but the elevator doors opened. I tried to stagger my way towards the door to Wyatt's condo, but Wyatt ended up having to almost drag me to the door. I leaned on the front door as Wyatt looked for his house keys.
"I know I have it somewhere," he muttered, checking his pockets.
I've always seen Wyatt as my best friend's rival. The leader of the Big Four, the baddest boy in school. When I first met him, I feared him along with my other friends. He always looked so intimidating, cold hearted, a heart breaker, and a jerk. But after the past few months I've seen the real him. He's considerate, funny to laugh with and laugh at, sweet, short tempered, clumsy and most of all Wyatt. The real Wyatt. Not that person he shows to hide his true self, to protect his so called reputation. And I all I want to do is see the real Wyatt every time I see him, not the other one he hides behind.
"Found it!" He said, with a crooked smile as he held out his keys.
He stepped towards me, the keys in his hand. "Autumn? I need to open the door."
"No," I muttered.
"No?"
I grabbed his collar, pulling him close. My arms then wrapped around his neck, leaving only a small gap between us. His gray eyes glint green as they widened, staring at me. He swallowed, his Adam's apple bobbing up and down his neck. That's when I decided to lose it, lose my first kiss.
"No."
Our lips crashed into each other. I heard the clink of the keys when they fell on the floor. At first he just stood there in shock, but then started to kiss me back. My arms tightened around his neck as his hands wrapped around my waist, pulling me closer to him. My ears were burning with embarrassment while we were just making out. Then Wyatt pulled away, then just stared into my eyes. Both of us were bright red, beads of sweat running down as we were breathing heavily.
Wyatt swallowed. "I-It's getting late..." He said, picking up the keys off the floor.
I noticed he jumbled the keys trying to find the right one. I found the action really cute, he's embarrassed that I caught him off guard. He finally found the right key and opened the door, letting me in first. He closed the door locking it, then turned to me.
We just stood there, staring at one another. Then we started to lean towards each other. This time both of us were aware of what we were doing. Wyatt pushed my hair away from my face, then both of his hands pulled my face closer. I stepped on his shoes, standing on my tippy toes to close the gap between us. Now that I was slightly taller, my arms wrapped around his neck then I leaned back pulling closer to my height. He stumbled forward, and now I was pressed against the door. We both grinned into the kiss, not holding it back.
After a few minutes that seemed endless, we paused to breathe. Both of our foreheads pressed together, our noses barely touching. We looked into each others eyes, his gray ones looking straight back at my brown ones. I closed my eyes, this is beyond what I ever dreamed my first kiss would be. And I felt happy, a warm feeling bubbled inside of me.
"I'm sorry." Wyatt whispered.
I looked at him. "What?"
He stepped away and walked into his living room, I followed right behind him. He put his hands into his face, not wanting to look at me.
"I am so sorry, Princess."
I stepped towards him, putting my hand on his shoulder so he would face me.
"Why?"
He looked up at me, his dark gray eyes looked pained, guilty.
"I stole your first kiss." He muttered. "And it's so precious to you, I snatched it away from you..."
I shook my head. "I don't care about that, I lost my first kiss to Wyatt Matthews."
"But you've treasured that kiss for 16 years! And I just stole it from you, me! The jerk, the player, the bad boy-"
"And that seemed even the more worth it."
Wyatt pulled me in for another kiss without warning. My eyes were wide open, since he caught me by surprise. But I slowly closed my eyes, enjoying the slow and sweet kiss. Then he pulled back and stared into my eyes.
"Why do you keep on stopping the kiss? You don't like kissing me?"
"I love kissing you," he admitted, blushing in embarrassment.
I leaned close to him, our lips barely touching. He leaned in too, but I slightly pulled back to tease him. "Me too."
He swallowed. "I-I'll sleep on the couch, you can have the bed."
"Or," I said, "we could share?"
Wyatt gulped then nodded. "Sure. You could change into something else to sleep in. I have some extra clothes you can wear..."
"Okay." I sniffed myself. "I smell like alcohol. Could I take a shower?"
Wyatt nodded again. "The bathroom is the second to your right. The bedroom is at the end of the hall."
I yawned, "Kay then."
I walked into the hallway, slightly closing the door. I stopped and looked at Wyatt who was just standing there at the middle of the living room. Wyatt plopped down on the couch and stared at the ceiling, rubbing his temples.
He heaved out a sigh. "Whoa."
I smiled to myself and headed to the bathroom. I tied my hair into a messy ponytail then stripped down to take a quick shower. When I was done I wrapped myself around the biggest towel I could find, which was still really short. I put on my underwear then put the towel back on, and looked around the bathroom, trying to find the clothes Wyatt left for me. My eyebrows knitted together, where are they? I left the bathroom and went into the bedroom. Wyatt was staring at the ceiling in a white tank top and red plaid pajama pants.
Wyatt looked up and nearly fell off the bed. "W-what, I uh..."
I blinked. "You didn't leave me any clothes," I told him.
"Oh, right. Right," he said, running towards his drawers. "Um, just give me a minute... Is this okay?" He held out a big t-shirt and boxers.
"I'm not wearing those boxers." I said, taking the t-shirt.
"Uh, why?"
I raised an eyebrow. "Because you wear them." I said.
"They're" -he sniffed them- "clean."
I shook my head. "No."
"But-"
"No."
"I mean-"
"No."
"How about-"
"I'll just wear this." I said, slipping the huge shirt on. "It's like a dress to me anyway." Showing him that it went up to my thighs. Then I hopped into the bed, and went under the covers.
"Okay, I'll just, uh-"
"Go to sleep." I muttered.
I felt the bed dip down as Wyatt climbed into the bed. I crawled into his arms, snuggling by face into the crook of his neck. He put one arm around my head like a pillow and the other hugged me. I could hear Wyatt's heartbeating, a steady beat which is in sync with mine. I looked up and we both leaned in for a short and sweet kiss. Out lips lingered for a moment before I snuggled back to his arms again.
"Wyatt?"
"Yeah Princess?" He asked, stroking my hair.
"You owe me 200 bucks."
He chuckled and I felt a kiss on my forehead. "It was worth it."
Can we all just say aw. C'mon, say it with me:
"Awwww."
Well this is my first kiss scene(s) in any of my books. Are they good? I hope you liked them. The freaky part is I've never been kissed before so I did my best. So... yeah. There used to be a kiss scene in my book Clueless Cupid, where Erik Rosetta gave Juliette Rivers the Cupid Kiss. I know, pretty stupid and convenient. As convenient as Batman's utility belt. So I just changed it to a hug, a very nice hug.
*Giving brother a hug*
When I first made this book, I thought I would base all the characters on everyone in real life. But the more I wrote, the more they seem to... build themselves. So all the characters are only inspired by people in real life. But that's all, they aren't us. I just want to let that out, because these characters will be so.... cute together!
At the right is Autumn's awesome outfit! So cute. And the video to the right is the lyric video of Girl's Just Wanna Have Fun, Miley Cyrus cover. Some of you prefer the original, I prefer the original. But the song is pretty old school, and the party has a lot of young kids in this generation so it's probably best if I got the party version of the song.
So I'll be off now. The next chapter will be pretty sweet. Later!
