Chapter 3 Part 17: First Date
Your POV:
"(y/n), I love you," Rantaro told me.
"I love you too, Rantaro," I replied.
I smiled lightly at him. I wanted to spend some time with him, so I could make him feel better. That was all I wanted right now.
"Is there anything you'd want to do?" I asked with a smile.
"Well, now that we are a couple, I think we should go on a small date," Rantaro told me with a soft smile.
"A-A date!?" I asked in shock, a deep red blush forming on my face.
Rantaro seemed to chuckle at my reaction. He placed his hand on my cheek with a soft glint in his eyes.
"You're just too cute," he said with a smile.
"Why are you so handsome, Rantaro?" I asked, "I always get flustered around you..."
"It's adorable that you get flustered around me," Rantaro laughed in response, "I guess that means we're perfect for each other."
I blushed even harder at that. I honestly felt like we were. This has never happened to me before. I've never had feelings for someone, and the same person reciprocating. This was truly the happiest day here at this school, even though I almost died because of Angie.
"Yeah, let's go on a date," I said with a smile, "what would you want to do for one?"
"We could go to your lab and watch anime," Rantaro explained, "we could even go to the kitchen and drink some tea."
"Maybe we could drink some tea and have some food in the dining hall, and then watch some anime in my lab. It's the combination of two ideas!" I exclaimed in response.
"Let's do that then," Rantaro replied, "hopefully everyone cleared out of the dining hall."
"Do you think we can ask Kirumi to prepare some nice desserts and tea?" I asked in response.
"I have no problem with that," Rantaro laughed in response, "Kirumi is very good with her culinary skills."
"Then let's go," I replied with a smile.
Rantaro and I now had a plan for our first date. Our first step of the plan was to find Kirumi, so we can request her to make some fancy treats and tea for hanging out in the dining hall. The second part was to stay in the dining hall for awhile, enjoying some tea and desserts. The last step of the plan was to go to my lab and watch some anime. Hopefully we could cuddle while doing so.
My mind instantly thought of the move I made when we were in my lab the last time. My heart started pounding when I thought of it. We were very close that day... we were basically holding each other at that point.
"Remember the last time in your lab?" Rantaro asked, "when you leaned up against me?"
"Y-Yeah..." I replied nervously.
"You do know that I did pull you closer because I had fallen for you since almost when we first met..." Rantaro replied.
This caused my face to turn even more red.
'He's been that way since almost the very beginning!?' I thought.
This shocked me a great amount. I had no idea he felt this way since that point in time. It was a lot to take in. All of the things he did in the past started to make sense.
The time he went on top of me when we were in the basement. The fact that he kept calling me cute and adorable... those were all hints that he was feeling something towards me. I was such an idiot...
"I started feeling things for you around then too..." I muttered in response.
"I'm glad you felt the same way. I really am happy," Rantaro told me.
"I'm glad you felt the same way about me too," I replied with a small smile.
"Let's get going now. We have to find Kirumi," Rantaro told me.
"I actually know how to find where Kirumi is!" I exclaimed, "my Monopad has some sort of GPS thing where it shows me where other people are. I think it's because everyone has their Monopads on their person at all times."
With that, I went on my Monopad, going to the map setting on it. I noticed no one was no longer in the dining hall when I checked there. Everyone must've went their own ways after what happened. They probably wanted to get their minds off of it.
I decided to check Kirumi's Lab first because she was doing laundry there earlier. She always went to the trouble of helping everyone keep sheets clean, and the uniforms clean as well. She always cleaned up the kitchen and the areas we were in.
This made me feel slightly bad, considering I was going to ask her to do more stuff for us. I know she wouldn't mind, but I still felt bad nonetheless.
It turned out Kirumi was still in her lab. This wasn't really shocking to me. She had to finish the sheets.
"Kirumi is in her lab, so that's where we're headed," I explained.
"Alright, let's go," Rantaro replied with a soft smile.
With that, Rantaro and I left the Dormitory area to head to the second floor of the school. That's where a few of the labs were. Those specific labs were Kaede's, Kirumi's, Gonta's, and mine.
While we were walking, Rantaro placed my hand in his. This caused me to blush lightly as we made our way to the second floor.
Once we got to the second floor, we made our way to Kirumi's Lab. We both quietly entered the door, where we heard the sound of a washer and dryer revving at full throttle.
"She really was doing laundry," Rantaro said.
"I don't think she'd lie about that," I laughed nervously.
We both walked to the back of her lab, where the washers and dryers were. We saw Kirumi putting sheets into a dryer.
"Hey Kirumi!" I exclaimed.
Kirumi seemed slightly shocked that Rantaro and I came to see her. Her eyes were widened slightly, but almost instantly, she regained her composure.
"Hello Rantaro, (y/n), are you both doing alright after what happened?" Kirumi asked in response.
"I'm doing alright," I replied, "I guess I'm still in shock over the whole situation..."
"That's understandable," Kirumi explained in response, "what about you Rantaro?"
Rantaro seemed to stay silent for a moment. It was like he was trying to think about a reasonable response for Kirumi. He had a right to be upset over what happened. I'm upset over what happened.
"I'm upset with Angie over the whole ordeal. She almost took someone away from me... and that person I love dearly," Rantaro explained, "don't I have a right to be upset?"
"You do have a right to be upset, Rantaro," Kirumi replied with a smile, "I was upset too. It took every ounce of my will power for me not to yell at everyone like you did."
"I can get why you're upset too," Rantaro replied nervously, "I mean, she is amazing. She helped a lot of people here, and I'm surprised they didn't shut down the student council after hearing about this."
"I am too," Kirumi stated in response, "Angie promised us no murder, but she tries to murder someone. It's hypocritical..."
I nodded in response. I couldn't get my mind fully off of what almost happened to me. The thing was, it already happened. I couldn't do anything to change the past in that way. I almost died, and I have to be more careful now. That was my truth behind the situation. Despite that, I wanted to give Angie another chance. Maybe she'd actually listen to me for once. That's what I wanted to do.
"I know what Angie did, and what she said didn't line up at all," I explained, "but I plan to forgive her no matter what. Kirumi, we gave you a second chance, so why don't we do the same for Angie?"
Kirumi seemed slightly shocked at what I said. Soon enough, she let out a smile.
"You still are inspiration, (y/n). You gave me a second chance, so I agree to give Angie a second one too," Kirumi replied with a smile.
The conversation made me lose the reason why we came to Kirumi to the first place. We had to ask her if she'd make some stuff for Rantaro and I's date.
"So, what can I do for you both?" Kirumi asked.
"We were wondering if you could make us some tea and desserts for a little date (y/n) and I plan to have," Rantaro explained calmly.
The thing I did was nod in agreement. I had a blush on my face as I did so. I still got very easily flustered around him, and I couldn't help it.
"I would be honored to do that for the two of you," Kirumi replied with a soft smile, "you two have had quite the stressful day, and I wouldn't want anything more than to make this day better for the both of you."
"Thank you so much," I replied.
"We should go without delay. It's going to take me some time to prepare everything," Kirumi explained.
"Alright," Rantaro replied, "let's go (y/n)."
I nodded nervously in response. Rantaro grabbed my hand once more, and we led Kirumi out of her lab, and the three of us went to the dining hall. Rantaro and I had to wait while Kirumi prepared everything for us. It was very nice that she'd do this for us, nonetheless.
"Are you and Rantaro in a relationship now?" Kirumi asked.
"Yes we are," Rantaro replied, "we both confessed our feelings after I rescued (y/n) from the pool."
"I see," Kirumi replied with a smile, "let me prepare something meaningful for this day. You both deserve a lot of happiness today despite what happened. Let me do that for you both."
"Thank you," Rantaro replied with a smile.
"Now, let me prepare everything. You two just wait for a bit. I promise everything will be worth the wait," Kirumi explained with a smile, as she headed to prepare the snacks.
"I'm sure everything will be worth the wait," I replied with a smile.
This day went from south to north. Something good was going to happen for our first actual date. This would be something I'd never forget, even if I wanted to.
"(y/n), you know how you kept giving me gifts every time we hung out in the past?" Rantaro asked with a soft smile.
"Yes I do," I replied, "I always want to give gifts to people, you especially."
"Well, I have a surprise for you. Please close your eyes," Rantaro requested.
"Alright then," I replied nervously.
I closed my eyes nervously as I waited for what was coming. I felt hands trace the back my choker. The clip was soon undone, and I was confused on why he undid my choker. The soft velvet of my choker of the left my neck. It was obvious that he set it aside.
I soon felt soft velvet on my neck. This was confusing me.
'What is he doing?' I thought.
I soon felt something being latched onto my neck. It felt like the same material from my choker. Did he put the same one back on, or did he put a new one now.
I felt cold metal, similar to my other choker rest on my neck, borderline chest. It felt like he put the same choker on.
"Open your eyes," Rantaro told me with a smile.
Once I opened my eyes, I was met with my choker looking the same, but there was a latch on the metal part. It was like this was now a locket.
I slowly tried to open up the charm. It looked the same, but I found something inside. It was a picture of Rantaro on one side, and a picture of me on the other. It was beautiful.
"Do you like it?" Rantaro asked with a small smile.
"Rantaro... I love it..." I replied with a smile.
"I thought using the same type of cameras from the case would be easy to get a few pictures," Rantaro explained with a smile, "it's a little reminder that even if I'm not with you, I'll still be there."
I felt tears roll down my eyes. These weren't tears of sadness. They were tears of joy. I hugged Rantaro tightly, sobbing into his chest. The gift he gave me made me so happy. I just wondered when he took the picture.
"I'm glad you like it, (y/n)... I love you," Rantaro told me.
We stayed like this for awhile. I felt like Rantaro and I got even closer today. We were dating after all, so of course we were going to be close. Kirumi soon brought out a cart full of items, so we sat down at the table, Rantaro being across from me.
There was a nice looking tea set on the cart, as well as many food items. There was cheesecake, scones, puff pastry and even more. I felt my mouth water at the sight of these items. I had no idea why I was so hungry, but I was.
"This looks amazing!" I exclaimed.
"For the tea, I decided that a lavender honey tea would suffice. It helps relax the body and mind, which is what you two need after what happened today," Kirumi explained.
"Lavender tea, huh?" I asked, "I have no idea if I've had that kind before. It sounds amazing though," I replied with a smile.
Kirumi set two China tea cups in front of us. The tea set had light blue rose patterns on them, as well as darker blue hydrangeas. She took the teapot and she slowly and expertly poured the tea into our cups. Her tea pouring skills reminded me of Sebastian from Black Butler. Sebastian could pour tea into a cup from a very high altitude, which was still shocking.
I noticed steam coming off the liquid in the cup. It smelled so good. It smelled of lavender with a slightly sweet hint to it.
Kirumi also set up some cheesecake on the plates first. It was a plain cheesecake with strawberries and a whipped icing. It looked so good.
"You two enjoy the tea and cheesecake. I'll be cleaning up in the kitchen," Kirumi explained, "please take your time. Call me if you want to try one of the other desserts on the cart."
"Alright," I replied nervously.
Kirumi walked into the kitchen to clean up, leaving Rantaro and I to ourselves. I smiled lightly as I looked at Rantaro.
"This is very nice," I said as I lifted the teacup to my lips.
I blew on the tea to cool it down slightly, the aroma making its way into my nose as I did so. After that, I closed my eyes as I took a small sip of the tea. My eyes widened from how good it was. The lavender was strong, and the honey flavor was subtle, creating a sweetened aftertaste of honey.
"Rantaro, you should try this tea. It's very good!" I exclaimed with a smile.
"Alright, alright, I'll have a sip too," Rantaro laughed in response.
Rantaro soon did the same thing I did, blowing on the tea to cool it down. He took a sip while staring at me.
"This is good. The lavender is strong, and the honey flavor is subtle," he explained.
"Kirumi really does know her stuff," I said, "I'm feeling more relaxed just from one sip of tea."
"That's good. Now, let's try the cheesecake," Rantaro said as he sliced a piece off of his slice with his fork.
He brought his fork up to my lips, which caused a deep red blush to go onto my face.
"Say "ahh~"," Rantaro told me.
This made my face explode even more. I nervously opened my mouth, and Rantaro fed me a small forkful of cheesecake.
An array of flavors exploded in my mouth. The creaminess of the cream cheese and the sweetness of the graham cracker crust. The strawberries added a tartness to the cheesecake, and the whipped topping balanced that out. I could say for certain that this was the best cheesecake I've ever had.
"Is it good?" Rantaro asked with a smile.
"Yes it is, but why did you feed me?" I asked.
"I thought it'd be cute if I did so," Rantaro replied.
With that, Rantaro and I had lovely conversations as we enjoyed the amazing tea and creamy cheesecake. I really enjoyed being with him. He made me happy. This was bliss for me, and it would hopefully last a lifetime.
We had conversation after conversation, and soon enough, we got done with our cheesecake and moved on to the puff pastry and scones. We both enjoyed all of them, soon having full stomachs.
"We should thank Kirumi again," I said with a smile, "it was all so good!"
"I agree," Rantaro replied with a smile.
Kirumi then came in and she cleared the dishes we used. She seemed happy about it. She really did enjoy doing this kind of work.
"Thank you so much for the food and tea, Kirumi. It was so good," I told her.
"I'm glad you enjoyed it, now I need to clean up everything. Thank you for letting me do this for you guys," Kirumi said in response.
After that, Kirumi rolled the dishes away, letting us go to the second part of our plan. The plan that involved Rantaro and I going to my lab to watch anime.
"Are you ready to head to your lab?" Rantaro asked me.
"Yes I am," I replied, "what anime would you like to watch today?"
"Let's see what is in your lab. We could always continue watching Akame Ga Kill," Rantaro replied.
"You still need to read the manga," I laughed in response, "it's a lot better... it's more graphic, but the story is better. The anime didn't follow the manga ending, so that's why the manga is better."
"That's understandable," Rantaro replied, "the manga always goes before the anime, isn't that correct?"
"Yes it is," I replied with a smile, "manga is always the true story."
"Alright, let's go now, maybe you can show me some manga too," Rantaro laughed.
"That reminds me about when we hung out in the library and read manga," I laughed.
"We should do that again sometime," Rantaro told me.
"Yeah, we should," I smiled back at him, "now, let's go before we run out of time."
With that, Rantaro took my hand, and we headed to the second floor to get to my lab. He always wanted to see my interests, despite them being slightly weird to other people. I would want to go on a date with him to see his interests more. Traveling would be fun with him. Just him and me, together no matter where we end up.
We soon made it to my lab. We both entered, and Rantaro shut the door softly.
"So, what do you want to watch?" he asked with a gentle smile.
"How about Cells at Work!" I exclaimed, "it is concept about how the cells work in the human body, but all the cells are anime characters!"
"That sounds interesting," Rantaro replied with a small smile, "let's watch it then."
"There's only thirteen episodes, so it's a pretty short series," I explained, "I really enjoyed it when I first watched it. It was so much fun to see how the cells do their work in an anime!"
"(y/n), you're getting a bit excited," Rantaro laughed, "alright, we can watch that one."
"Alright, I'll find the anime," I said with a small smile.
I went to the shelves of anime that I had. I noticed one of the things that was strange. They were all now in alphabetical order from A-Z. I wondered who did this, but I was kind of glad it was done because it would make the anime of choice a lot easier to find. I hummed lightly as I went over to the C section to find Cells at Work. I soon found it, and I took it out with a smile.
"Found it!" I exclaimed.
"That was quick," Rantaro laughed, "normally it takes you a few minutes to find the series you want to watch."
"Yeah, it normally does, but I think someone organized my lab's anime collection when I wasn't in there," I replied nervously.
"That's a bit strange," Rantaro muttered, "but let's not let it bother us. Let's have fun and watch this anime."
"Alright," I laughed.
I gently took the disc outside of the case and I made sure that there was no disc inside of the DVD player. After that, I put it in the DVD player with a smile. This was going to be a lot of fun. Cells at work was already one of my favorites when it came to anime. It might've been a shorter one, but the concept around the anime was so fascinating.
The first episode then started playing. This followed a red blood cell, trying to find her way around the human body, but she keeps getting lost. She runs into trouble in almost every episode, and she runs into the same white blood cell who saves her life almost all of the time. It was so much fun to watch the first time.
That was what the anime was about. The trouble this red blood cell faces was germs, viruses and bacteria. Parasites made an appearance later in the series, but we weren't at that part yet.
"The theme of this show seems pretty cheerful," Rantaro laughed.
"Yeah, the English voice actors did a cover of it! It's so amazing!" I exclaimed.
"I believe it is," Rantaro replied with a smile.
I blushed lightly as I felt Rantaro's arm go around me, pulling me closer to him. I let out a small exhale in shock. He was the one who made the move this time. It wasn't me.
"It's getting a little cold in here," Rantaro told me, "I hope you don't mind being a used as a heater."
"I don't," I replied with a smile, "I was getting cold too. Let's stay like this for awhile... please..."
"I don't mind doing that for you," Rantaro replied as we watched the show.
A few minutes went by, being silent as we both watched the show. We're we going to just stay silent, or will Rantaro start a conversation. That's what I was curious about. He probably would have more to say to me because of what happened today.
"You know (y/n), earlier, I thought you actually tried to end your life," Rantaro explained as the show went on, "I was so worried that I lost you. I'm glad you're being strong."
"If it were the beginning, I might've actually done something like that," I explained nervously, "but you helped me stay strong enough to fight off those feelings. Even I feel like I've made it. I keep fighting to get everyone out of here. I keep fighting for you. That's the truth, Rantaro. I try to stay strong for you."
"I'm glad that you're staying strong for me, but..." Rantaro muttered, "you have to be strong for yourself as well. It's just as important."
"I know, Rantaro," I replied, "I'm trying to be strong for myself too. It's going to take time though."
Rantaro pulled me closer as I said that. My eyes widened slightly as a blush appeared on my face.
"I will always wait for the day where you can see yourself the way I see you," Rantaro explained,.
I felt myself melt at his words. He really did care about me that much. It was sweet.
With that, we watched Cells at Work for a while, managing to get through the whole series by nighttime. Once that happened, we said our goodbyes and headed to our rooms for the night.
I really wished I could spend time with him longer, but that'd have to be tomorrow.
Here is a fluff chapter for you all! This is a little bit filler, but I thought that a first date thing would be nice for everyone, so ta-dah! I'm gonna start doing the print stuff again lol.
Prompt 1 (reboot): "What will Kokichi's reaction be to Rantaro and (y/n) dating?"
You all will have till next Friday to send work in for this. I wish you luck- CRUSIFIXdroid
