Chapter 2 Part 14: The Underwater Escape Act

Your POV:

I honestly knew what I was doing when I decided that I'd help Kokichi get out. I knew the others would be pretty upset at me for it. I honestly didn't care.
I knew where everyone else would think that leaving him would teach him a lesson, but I knew he wasn't going to learn any better. He'd still lie. Making him suffer for something that he can't help is not the way to go.
I was panting when we got out of Gonta's lab. I had to make a mad dash with the 5'1 supreme leader, and that combined with all of the energy I lost from avoiding bugs.
Everyone seemed to be staring at me while I was panting. They were either concerned about me or they were upset with my for saving Kokichi. Whatever it was, I was ready to accept the blame for everything. I was ready to be blamed for things I didn't even do as well. That was my life.
"(y/n), are you alright?" Rantaro asked me.
"Yeah... I'm just waiting to be screamed at for helping Kokichi..." I replied truthfully.
Tenko was sending a glare towards my direction. I was terrified... she wouldn't want to be my friend anymore.
I realized she was actually glaring at Kokichi and not me.
"You degenerate... how dare you trick the sweet (y/n) to save you from what we had to suffer from," Tenko said with a glare.
'I don't think she understands that I decided to help him on my own...' I thought.
I sighed lightly as I thought that. Soon enough, Tenko and Kokichi were fighting and bickering about who was telling the truth. They were eventually broken up by Keebo, Tsumugi, Rantaro, and Shuichi. This made me relieved. The atmosphere soon settled down, and we were back on track.
"We might be corpses by tomorrow morning..." Himiko stated.
"Don't joke about that...what if it happens? It's just plain possible," Tsumugi explained in response.
"I agree," I stated, "you shouldn't stay stuff like that considering the situation we're all in. It's very dangerous."
Everyone nodded in agreement as I said that. Rantaro, Kaede, Shuichi, Tsumugi, Keebo, and Tenko. The only person who didn't show that she agreed was Angie. She was most likely trying to stand up for Himiko. They seemed to be friends, so I understood why. It made me happy for Himiko.
"So how do we return these Kubs Pads back to their rightful owners?" Tenko asked nervously.
"Hmmm, if only the Monokubs were here. I'm sure they'd help us," Angie said.
Instantly after Angie said that, a Monokub did pop up. It wasn't the ones who talked much either. It was the robot looking Monokub known as Monodam.
Monodam explained to us that the rest of the cubs were asleep. He told us he could help us, so we naturally told him about the problem on getting the Kubs Pads back to their rightful rooms.
He told us he'd bring the Kubs Pads back to their correct rooms. Kokichi seemed to sulk at that because he was the one who wanted to gather everyone to watch the motive videos.
I sighed lightly as the green cub disappeared. This night would finally be over. It was the best thing to me ever.
I wished everyone a good night before heading off to my dorm room. I was walking abnormally slowly. My energy was basically sapped from me during the Insect Meet and Greet. I hoped I'd sleep very well.
Another thing I noticed. It was too late to hold training. I was very relieved. I was too tired to do fifty push-ups like what happened yesterday. I still remembered the pain and suffering I had during that time. It made me shiver.
I felt someone tap my shoulder as I was lost in all of these thoughts. I looked up to see Rantaro looking down at me. He seemed slightly puzzled before smiling at me.
"Are you tired?" Rantaro asked me.
"What gave it away?" I yawned.
"I have no idea," Rantaro told me as his hand traveled to his chin to make a thinking pose, "I wonder what gave it away. Maybe it was the fact that you were walking abnormally slow."
I blinked twice before laughing slightly and playfully punching Rantaro. He was very smart. He even knew how to joke around.
"You are a serious smartass, Rantaro," I laughed.
"I'm not a smartass," Rantaro replied, "I'm just stating the truth."
"Yeah, I know..." I muttered in response, "maybe you only stopped me because you were worried."
I looked up at the sky and smiled as I said that, however Rantaro blinked twice as if he were in shock.
"Now what gave that away?" Rantaro asked with a nervous chuckle.
Rantaro also had a light pink dusting his cheeks. I blushed lightly seeing that. I looked down and started playing with my hair.
"Maybe it's because you always make sure I'm ok... even when I try to get away... you always try your best to cheer me up," I explained nervously.
I looked over to the side, so I could see Rantaro. He smiled warmly at me before placing his hand on my head.
"I do get worried about you. You really are something special," Rantaro told me, "you should get some sleep. I'll see you at the magic show tomorrow."
With that, the mysterious greenette walked away, leaving me in awe with a red face.
'He's so cool...' I thought.
I decided to continue on my path back to my dorm. I made it in about a few minutes. I basically bounced with joy as I saw my bed. I didn't care if I had the same outfit on. I was too tired to change.
I decided to head to bed then. I fell asleep a few minutes after settling in. I felt at ease. I felt calm, knowing Rantaro would always be there for me.
As I entered the world of dreams, all I thought about was Rantaro.

*timeskip*

The morning announcement played like always. I was still very tired as my sore body lifted from the bed. I knew what was happening today.
The magic show Himiko and Angie planned was this morning. I had to get ready in order to get there.
I did my usual routine. I went in my shower, put a new outfit on, brushed my hair, and left the dorm. That was the same thing I did every morning since I got here. I didn't want to look like a mess.
I walked out of my dorm with a slight sigh.
"I don't get why we have to do this..." I muttered.
I decided to just hurry over to the gym. I was guessing that everyone was already there. I set my course for the gym.
The halls of the school were bare. This solidified my theory. Everyone was there. I continued through the halls until I made it to the gym.
I saw everyone there, looking up at a stage. There was a water tank on that stage. That must've been a part of the magic show, considering that it wasn't there before. I looked closely, noticing something was missing... some people. Maki, Kokichi, Ryoma, and Kaito weren't here. Maki must've been in her lab, but the rest must've been sleeping.
"Welcome to our magic show, (y/n)! Whaddya think? Isn't it divine?" Angie asked happily.
"The stage looks amazing!" I exclaimed, "did you and Himiko set this up yourselves?"
"No, no. This would've been impossible with just two people. I got others to help us," Angie replied, "Kaito and Keebo helped carry equipment from Himiko's research lab... I designed the stage but Kirumi sewed the curtains. Everyone is so nice... Atua deserves all the credit."
"Shouldn't the people who helped you get the credit?" I asked.
"Oh, well, I didn't ask you to help because I didn't know what you'd be useful for," Angie explained in response.
This actually made me feel slightly upset. I was already told by almost everyone that I was useless... now Angie was telling me that she couldn't find a use for me. That screamed "Useless" at me.
"Did you really have to say that to her...?" I heard Rantaro ask.
"Anyway, just sit tight. Once we're done preparing, we'll start right away," Angie said, avoiding the topic.
I did sit tight as the others started talking. I wanted to be quiet since I was a bit upset about Angie's comment.
I listened to what the others were talking about. According to Angie, Himiko needed to settle her nerves for the talent show. That was understandable. Stage fright is very bad to very anxious people.
I took a look at Himiko, who came to greet everyone. She was shaking like a leaf.
Soon enough the motive of the magic show was revealed by Himiko. There was a timer. Once the time limit hits zero, piranhas will be dropped into the tank. If Himiko doesn't escape by then, she's going to be fish food.
I felt the urge to vomit at this. Tenko wanted Himiko to reconsider, but Himiko didn't. With that, Himiko stood next to the tank. The show was about to start. I was very anxious now.
"Thank you, Atua, for being with us today," Angie announced happily.
"Boo! Booooooo!!! You're supposed to thank us first!" Tenko exclaimed.
"Nyahaha! I present to you the mysterious, the miraculous, The Amazing Himiko!" Angie announced.
"N...Nyeh... Th-The magic I will perform today is the Extreme Water Magic... U-U-Underwater... Escape Act..." Himiko explained nervously.
"If you would please turn your attention to the water tank in front of you!" Angie exclaimed, "when the timer above starts, Himiko will enter the water tank. Once she's in the tank, her assistant—me!—will draw the curtain in front of the tank. After 60 seconds have passed on the timer... A separate, suspended tank will open and drop in a school of piranhas! Oh my goodness!"
I felt very sick at this. I though one minute wouldn't be enough time to get out. Piranhas being added in this goes way too far. Then again the most she'd have would be three minutes before drowning.
"After the piranhas have fallen, and the curtain is opened... If, by some miracle, Himiko is gobbled up, please give a big round of applause!" Angie announced.
Himiko went silent, but Angie said it was a joke. I wasn't ready for anyone to die again. I hoped Himiko would survive. Everyone was concerned by Himiko.
"Nyeeeh... Well then, let's begin... The Amazing Himiko's Magic Show!" Himiko announced.
She started the timer to one minute after that. She walked up to the tank, taking a deep breath. She then jumped in. Angie announced that she'd now close the curtains, so that's what she did.
Fifty seconds was on the tank. We were waiting silently. I felt sweat form on my face. I felt someone put their hand on my shoulder. Rantaro smiled lightly at me. I felt slightly calmer.
At forty seconds, Himiko still wasn't out.
"Himiko is still not out..." Tenko muttered.
"She went in moments ago," Kiyo told Tenko.
At thirty seconds, Himiko still wasn't out.
"W-Well, do you think she's alright!?" Tenko exclaimed.
"Uhh... Gonta starting to worry. Should we do something?" Gonta asked.
At twenty seconds, we were all worried. She still didn't come out.
"Sh-She still hasn't come out! Are you sure she's ok!?" Tenko exclaimed.
"G-Gonta can't take it anymore!" Gonta exclaimed.
Gonta leaped out of his seat and proceeded to climb the stage.
"Wait...Gonta!?" Kirumi exclaimed.
Gonta ran on the stage to try and save Himiko.
"Aw, you cant do that! We're still in the middle of the show!" Angie exclaimed.
"B-But...if Gonta do nothing, Himiko get eaten by piranhas..." Gonta said, "Huh...?"
Soon enough, less than ten seconds were remaining. Everyone was in over drive. I started to breath heavily. I didn't want anyone to die. The voices were getting cloudy.
The timer hit zero. The piranhas fell into the tank as if it were slow motion. Was Himiko dead? Was she getting eaten as we speak?

Guess you'll have to find out next chapter. Anyway this chapter isn't very good. I've been busy all week, and I basically murdered myself trying to get this out. I hope you like this chapter. I'll start the prompts next week. Ciao- CRUSIFIXdroid
