Chapter 2: Epilogue
Kirumi's POV:
"Wh-What happened?" I asked, seeming to be confused on what was going on.
I honestly was confused. I thought I was going to be free. I was in so much pain caused by circular saw blades and one single thorned vine I tried to use for my escape.
I did fall because my hope lead to nothing. I was supposed to be dead. If that's the case, why am I alive?
I saw someone gazing at me. It was (y/n)... why was she here? She seemed shocked for some reason.
Your POV:
I was shocked. It actually worked. Kirumi's eyes were opened and she was actually talking.
"(y/n), why are you here? Why did you follow me and try to help me when I killed Ryoma? How am I still alive?" Kirumi asked me with a slightly panicked voice.
I sighed lightly. I honestly had to tell Kirumi what was going on. There was no way I could tell her that she survived that fall. No one would be able to.
"It would be a lie if I told you that you survived the fall..." I muttered in response, "but if I'm truthful with you, you have to keep this a secret."
"What do you mean keep it a secret?" Kirumi asked.
I let out a light sigh in response. I needed to know Kirumi could keep this a secret.
"Can keep a secret or not?" I asked, "before I tell you anything you have to promise to keep this secret."
Kirumi seemed very confused. She thought for a moment, but could I blame her. She just had a very traumatic experience. She needed time to recover.
"Alright. As the Ultimate Maid, I'll keep whatever you tell me a secret," Kirumi explained.
"Thank you Kirumi," I replied.
I made sure the decide was still on. I couldn't let it run out of power. After that, I looked Kirumi in the eyes.
"This information I'm going to tell you will put me in danger. If the mastermind finds out about this, I could be killed on the spot for it," I explained.
"What kind of information could be that important to get killed on the spot?" Kirumi asked.
"You will think I'm crazy for this... but you know how Rantaro miraculously survived?" I asked.
"Yes I do... it's still strange..." Kirumi replied.
"Well after the trial, we decided to try and find out what caused this. And we did find the answer. It's me..." I explained, "I have a rare gene called *Tears of Life*. I can bring people back who are intact."
Kirumi looked slightly shocked. I didn't blame her for that. I had no idea if she believed me or not.
"How is that possible?!" Kirumi asked.
"I have no idea, but you need to keep this a secret. This is my way of saving everyone I can. If the mastermind finds out, it's game over for me..." I explained in response.
"I understand... but I still need to get out of here..." Kirumi replied.
"You know what happened when you killed. Kirumi you need be patient. Your nation can wait a little longer. It's better if you're alive," I explained.
"If you are the one bringing people back, you are important too. I will be sure to protect you from anyone who tries to kill you," Kirumi replied.
"Alright. Now lay back down... I'm about to turn this thing off. I have to make it look like I'm shocked to the mastermind..." I replied.
Kirumi did as she was told. I went into the same position as I was before she came back. I turned the device off and instantly, Kirumi rose up, acting like she did when she first woke up. I acted shocked to see her.
This was all to try and get suspicion away from me.
Meanwhile...
Kokichi's POV:
The screen turned into a fuzzy mess after I saw my beloved (y/n) hovering over Kirumi's dead body. We finally had people dead and it felt amazing.
I was mentally giggling at the scene, but I acted upset and shocked about seeing the Maid Mom's execution.
A few minutes later, the camera flashed on, revealing the same thing we were all seeing. Monokuma was laughing about how amazing it was. Suddenly, we witnessed that the maid got up as if she wasn't hurt. Everyone was freaking out, and I decided to as well to make sure I played the part correctly. I did notice something on the camera though.
(y/n) looked shocked about it. I felt a smirk form onto my lips.
'You really think you fooled me, huh (y/n)?' I thought, 'you just revealed to me that you are involved with this silly little conspiracy.'
It was obvious that she was involved now. Whenever she was in the room with someone, the camera signal in that room would be interrupted. I think she has a device.
'I'll have to destroy the device she has... then I will find out how she's involved. You will be mine no matter how many people get brought back. Once you are in my clutches, I'll kill off everyone!' I thought.
Your POV:
I acted as if I were shocked, but nonetheless, I helped Kirumi back to the trial room. I knew what I was doing. I agreed to tell no one, but I couldn't just lie. He was going to be upset with me.
We entered the trial room with haste. I noticed everyone's shocked faces. The only one who didn't look shocked was Rantaro. He knew what I did. Everyone else was shocked and asking the same question. How? I looked over to Monokuma and noticed something. His eyes were narrowed.
"How the hell did she survive!? I executed her!" Monokuma shouted, "Monodam pushed Monosuke into the fall! If she didn't die this time, I'll kill her again!"
I ran in front of Kirumi. My eyes were narrowed as I shot a glare to the monochromatic bear. I wasn't going to let him have another chance.
"If you kill her, you'll have to kill me too," I stated.
"What the hell are you doing, (y/n)!?" Miu yelled.
"(y/n), get out of the way or you'll be killed!" Kaito exclaimed.
"I'm not going to let anyone else die! I'll gladly give my life in order for this to happen!" I shouted in response.
"I have never heard anything that hypothetical..." Keebo muttered nervously.
I continued to stand my ground in front of Kirumi. I wasn't going to let her die again.
Kokichi's POV:
I noticed (y/n) was going to put her life on the line. I wasn't going to let her die, so what should I do? Should I let Kirumi live?
I decided that I'd make (y/n) happy for the time being. I sent a harsh glare towards Monokuma. Now he'd know not to kill her.
Your POV:
"Geez, fine... I'll let it slide just this once..." the monochromatic bear said dejectedly.
Soon enough, Monokuma and what was left of his cubs left. This made me happy.
I sighed in relief. I went next to Kirumi with a light smile. I know that she did kill someone, but I was willing to forgive, and I'm sure the others would as well.
"So what of Kirumi?" Kiyo asked, "what should we do?"
"I think we should have someone keep an eye on her so she doesn't kill anyone else," Maki replied.
"That's understandable..." I muttered, "but can't we give her another chance? I'm sure she saw that this didn't work, so she won't try it again."
"But we don't know it what you're saying will prove true..." Kiyo explained in response.
"Maybe a compromise should be in order," Rantaro suggested.
"Go on Rantaro. Tell us this compromise of yours," Kiyo said.
"Every day, we should check around for things she can use to murder. We could keep those away at all tim—" Rantaro replied, when suddenly...
"I'm sorry everyone..." Kirumi told us.
"What's this now?" Kiyo asked.
"It was wrong of me to kill Ryoma.. it was wrong of me to try and blame you all. I accept that I must face my consequences, but please give one more chance to prove myself..." Kirumi explained, tears coming from her eyes.
Everyone seemed to soften up at this. This was a genuine apology from Kirumi. Kokichi wasn't even saying anything about this, and he could normally spot a lie.
"Fine, but..." Kiyo stated, "if you betray our trust again, that will be the end of it."
"I understand..." Kirumi replied.
I smiled lightly. Everyone was starting to accept her again. I knew I would always try to find the good in people. That's what we needed to do. We needed to have hope. We needed to hope for the future...
"This is still the second time that happened..." Shuichi muttered, "I'm starting to think someone might be involved in these strange occurrences..."
I was mentally nervous about what he said. Shuichi might've already figured out that I'm involved.
In any case, I most likely missed a lot of a conversation. We decided to head back up. We almost lost a good friend of ours. It would've made all of us even sadder than we were now.
I still felt regret because I couldn't do anything about Ryoma. I was just upset about it.
We left the trial room and entered the elevator. We went up, going back the way we came to get here.
Before we knew it, we all found ourselves in front of the fountain. It was pitch black out there. We must've been in that trial room for several hours. It was always the case when it came to these trials.
Stuff like this always took time to figure out. The mysteries behind the cases we were put up against... the betrayal of our friends.
Everything always took time, energy, and sanity away from us all. I just wanted everyone to get along. I didn't want to lose anyone, but somehow Monokuma convinces one of us to do the unspeakable. It has happened these two cases.
I brought my attention on to everyone who was here.
"For now...we should rest. To me, that seems most rational for everything that's happened..." Keebo explained.
"Yeah... My brain's outta juice from going full-throttle all day," Himiko explained in response.
"Like you even have a brain to use!" Miu exclaimed in response.
"Anyway, this killing game is over! I won't allow it to go on!" Tenko exclaimed.
"I agree," Kaede replied to Tenko.
"It'll be fine. As long as we listen to Atua, we'll be just fine," Angie explained in response.
Gonta was silent. It was revealed that he was looking at the sky. He explained that even after all that's happened, they are pretty. The only thing was that the Stars were different from the ones Gonta was used to. The position could've been different.
Kaito wanted to head back to the dorms. I looked over to Kirumi, noticing she was very silent. We wanted to head back to the dorms when....
"Oh, hold on. I have to tell you guys something," Kokichi explained with a smile on his face.
"What now?" I asked, "everyone is exhausted..."
"Now, now my beloved (y/n), it won't take that long, so just listen to what I have to say," Kokichi replied with a dark smile on his face.
"Well then? What is it that you have to say?" Kiyo asked.
"Everyone seems to be treating me like some kinda compulsive liar," Kokichi explained, "but that's ridiculous! There's a way worse liar than me in our group!"
"A liar worse than you?" Shuichi asked in response.
"......I'm talking about Maki," Kokichi stated.
"What?" Maki asked in response.
I was very confused. How could Maki be a worse liar than Kokichi? And why did he wait until now to bring this up? Kaito took the words out of my mouth when he asked his question.
"Maki admitted it during the class trial, remember?" Kokichi asked, "Ryoma wanted her to show him his motive video cuz he was looking for a reason to live."
Why was Kokichi bringing this up? This was getting more confusing by the second.
"But that wasn't the whole story..." Kokichi said ominously, "Ryoma was blackmailing you, wasn't he, Maki?"
'Ryoma was blackmailing Maki?' I thought.
How was Kokichi getting this kind of information? I honestly had no idea. What was he getting at?
"What are you getting at?" I asked Kokichi.
"Ryoma just so happened to discover Maki's true identity," Kokichi explained, "so he used that to blackmail her. I bet he said something like... *If you don't show me my motive video, I'll tell everyone what you really are.* That's why Maki didn't want us to know she met with Ryoma. She wanted to keep her true identity a secret! That's why she kept quiet until the last minute!"
"Wh-Why you... What shit are you making up now? Maki's true identity? What-" Kaito asked when...
"Nee-heehee, I've known Maki's true identity the whole time," Kokichi interrupted.
Maki was glaring at Kokichi. This was shocking to me. For a moment, I thought Maki disappeared... she was so fast.
I looked in disbelief when I saw Maki hoisting Kokichi up by his neck. My eyes were widened in shock. He couldn't be right...
"...Gh!" Kokichi exclaimed, "y-y'know...th-this is an interesting t-turn of events... B-But, would you really...k-kill me in front of everyone...?"
"H-Hey, Maki! What the hell is going on?" Kaito asked.
I was wondering the same thing. It was like Maki was a whirlwind of malicious energy, directed at Kokichi. He must've really pissed her off. I was slightly shaken.
"Y-Yeah...you can probably...snap my neck like a twig right now..." Kokichi muttered, gasping for air, "but that's...not your style... Y-You would rather...kill from the shadows... Right...Miss Ultimate Assassin?"
