Chapter 1 Part 5: The Secret Doorway Behind the Bookcase

Warning: This chapter contains angst and traumatic ptsd. If you are sensitive to this stuff, please don't read this. Hopefully I did this right though. Enjoy!

Your POV:

All of it went by in a flash. Monokuma exploded from being crushed by an Exisal. The Monokubs obviously freaked out due to the death of their beloved "father". Everyone was very confused on how this would happen, some even thinking a spare would pop up momentarily.
I had a split opinion on the matter. I wanted to believe Monokuma was dead but...... it would seem like it was "too" perfect for a happy ending. It wouldn't just end like this.... right?
These thoughts ran through my head until the Monokubs told us that Monokuma didn't have a spare. It was shocking. They then brought up that they were going to eat him? It confused me, so I just kept quiet. They then left.
"U-Umm... What's going on?" Tsumugi asked nervously.
"Hmm... Everything's a complete mess now. But if there's no final boss... then that means this killing game is cancelled!" Kokichi said happily.
    "Huh!? Cancelled!?" Gonta exclaimed.
"I don't think so. Monokuma is just a robot. There has to be someone controlling him," Rantaro explained.
"Ah-haha, don't be such a worrywart! Everything's defiantly over now!" Kokichi exclaimed in response, "with the mastermind gone, continuing this game is pretty much impossible."
"Um.... Kokichi. I have to agree with Rantaro on this..." I muttered, looking down slightly.
Rantaro looked at me, his eyes slightly widening. I started to fiddle with my hair a little bit, trying to ease the anxiety building up from the stares I got.
"I mean.... isn't this *too* convenient for us? I don't think whoever is behind this would end it like this. The mastermind might have some secret ba—" I said, being cut off.
"(y/n), quit being a buzzkill. Everyone's still angry with you for what you did yesterday. I mean. You try to give us hope, and now that we have hope, you want to take it away. Do you even care about others and their feelings?" Kokichi explained.
My eyes widened slightly, as my hands started shaking. Sweat started to roll rivers down my face. The trembling moved from my hands to my entire body. This felt familiar.

"You didn't actually care... did you?"

"You always seemed fine. Nothing ever happened to you,"

"You brought bad luck ever since you were born..."

"You used him.... you killed him..."

    "Y O U  M O N S T E R !"

I felt as if I was being sucked into a different world. It was dark barren, only showcasing the voices in my head. I backed away slightly.

"Everyone wishes you were dead... you murderer. You monster,"

"N-No.... I-I'm not... please stop..." I whimpered, tears forming in my eyes.

"Nothing ever bothered you. You are emotionless. You use people until you don't have a use for them anymore,"

"I-I'm not a monster... I never killed anyone.... that day.... that day was just a coincidence...." I explained in quiet sobs, "I would never kill anyone. Please believe me!"

Shadowy silhouettes surrounded me, playing a chorus of voices. Those voices surrounded me in a circle, repeating the same thing over and over again.

    "You are a killer,"

"You should've died instead of that boy,"

"The world wants you dead, so why not end your life now?"

"You are worthless. Nothing but trash who hurts others,"

    "Go die!"

"STOP IT!" I shouted, my hands grabbing the sides of my face, tears in my eyes.
Everyone stopped talking about whatever was happening and looked at me. They all seemed to be alarmed in some way. They must've thought I was arguing with them.
My eyes scanned the room, the anxious feeling finally setting in. I let out a sigh, letting my arms rest to my sides.
"(y/n)... are you alright?" Kaede asked me.
I stayed silent, not wanting to share anything about my past with them.
"Why aren't you talking. Is something wrong? What's going on?" Kaede asked once more.
I refused to answer once again. I grabbed my arm and squeezed it lightly to try to relieve the anxiety.
"(y/n) say something! Your fuckin' silence speaks volumes!" Miu exclaimed, obviously very angry that I wasn't talking.
"Just... leave me alone....." I muttered in a very trembly voice.
Once I said that, I ran out of the dining hall. I ran over to the entrance hall, opening the double doors leading outside. I soon made it to the dormitory, entering my room and locking the door.
I fell onto my knees, my hands tangling themselves in my hair.
"GET OUT OF MY HEAD!" I shouted.
I started to hit my head against the wall closest to me. I slammed my head into the wall many times, causing a slight bruise to form.
"I'm not a monster! I had nothing to do with that car crash! I never killed anyone! GET OUT OF MY HEAD!" I screamed out.

"Maybe they're right... maybe you should die..." a voice that sounded like me told me.

"Who are you?" I asked aloud.

"I am you," the voice replied.

"Leave me alone... please...." I pleaded.

"Why should I leave you alone should I ask. You never left people alone. All you care about is your self gain from using others. A backstabber if you will. That's exactly what you are. What we are. We use other people for our self benefit. Once we get what we want, they get thrown away," the voice explained, "kekeke~ I've got to hand it to you. You make a pretty appealing backstory for the people here. You want to use them... you want to break them."

"I WON'T KILL ANYONE! YOU AREN'T REAL! LEAVE ME ALONE!" I screamed out.

Suddenly I heard the door bell ringing. This caused that horrid voice to disappear. I sighed lightly as tears poured out of my eyes.
"I never killed anyone..." I muttered.
I made my way over to the door, wiping my eyes to get rid of the tears that were present. I opened the door, revealing a very worried Rantaro.
"Hey... what was going on earlier (y/n)? Are you alright? Are you still upset about yesterday?" Rantaro asked, bombarding me with questions.
I nodded silently in response to his question. I looked down and sighed. I wanted to tell him everything..... but I just couldn't. I couldn't have him constantly worrying about me.
"I want to cheer you up (y/n)," Rantaro told me, "why don't we go to the library. I bet there's some manga in there to check out."
I looked to the side. A few thoughts occurred to me. If I refused to go, he'd know something is wrong. If I decided to go, then I could act like nothing's wrong and I could not worry him.
Heeding my resolve, I nodded lightly and walked out of the dorm room.
"Let's go..." I told Rantaro.
"Alright," Rantaro replied, walking next to me.
The walk to the library was very silent. I looked down slightly and kept walking, Rantaro keeping up with me no matter what pace I was going. We soon entered the library after going down the stairs into the basement. The smell of musty old books hit my nose, causing it to scrunch up in disgust.
"It still is very dusty in here... my nose is on fire..." I muttered.
"Yeah it is, but let's look for that manga," Rantaro replied.
     "All right..." I replied.
I started to look around the library, scanning the many books crammed everywhere. There were books on the floor, stuffed in the shelves, and on top of the bookshelves.
My eyes continued to scan the books on top of the book shelves. Something struck me odd while doing this. The bookcase in the back didn't have any books on it. It was strange considering how every shelf had books on the top of them.
"Hey... I'm going to go look in the back," I muttered.
"Alright then," Rantaro replied, seemingly somewhat confused.
I walked to the bookcase in the back, the one with no books on the top. I wanted to inspect it more. I started to scan the bookshelf from top to bottom. It looked like normal bookcase. I looked to the bottom and noticed something odd.
There was skid marks on the floor, leading from the bookcase. While observing this, I had a strange sensation that I was being watched by something. Skid marks shouldn't be near a bookcase. A bookcase isn't supposed to be able to move.
Hesitantly, I put my hands on the bookshelf and pulled on it. The bookcase then went towards me,  and opened, leading a black and white door that was similar to Monokuma's design. The bookcase then went back into the same position as before it was opened.
    "This is...." I muttered.
"Ah-haha. So you already figured it out," Rantaro explained, chuckling darkly.
I turned around, noticing what Rantaro said. He had that same creepy look on his face. He was smiling at me creepily like what he did when I first met him, and what he did before we went to the underground tunnel.
"What do you mean Rantaro. You're making it seem like you already knew about this..." I replied, my voice wavering slightly.
"You're very observant (y/n). What do you think this means? I mean you shouldn't trust the word of someone who doesn't know their talent," Rantaro replied, still giving me the same creepy look.
"Are you implying that you are behind this.... this door would mean that one of us is controlling Monokuma. Are you saying you are the mastermind?" I asked, "if you do try to say that.... I won't believe you."
"So even if I was, you wouldn't believe it. So do tell, why am I not the person behind this?" Rantaro asked, with the creepy look.
"Because I would be dead by now if you were. If this said person had someone encounter them going into this area then that person would be killed. I mean this could be the room where spares are made. You would've killed me by now if you were this said mastermind," I explained.
Rantaro then made a gentle smile at me, getting rid of his very creepy demeanor.
"You got me. I was just testing you. You're very observant like I said. You are useful to everyone. There is no denying that. You really need to stop letting everyone get to you," Rantaro explained.
"Rantaro... how did you know about this door..." I asked, avoiding the question.
"I went in here yesterday after taking you to your room. I noticed the same thing you did," Rantaro replied.
"I feel like that's a lie Rantaro. I didn't hear anyone leave dormitory after you left me to go sleep. You say I'm observant, so there you go," I replied.
"(y/n).... Just stop talking about it alright? Just listen to me. I'm going to end this killing game alright? I'm going to end it alone. So we can all be friends. I'm confident that the mastermind will make another spare. This killing game isn't over..." Rantaro replied.
"I don't want you to do it alone Rantaro. Please let me help," I requested.
Rantaro looked at me. His eyes held a soft look, yet having determination and hope in them.
"I'm sorry (y/n)... I have to do this alone. You're not the only one who needs to prove their worth to everyone. Just lay off trying to help me. I've already decided that I want to do this alone. Don't get in my way," Rantaro explained before leaving the library.
I sighed lightly, sitting up against the wall. I felt tears well up in my eyes.
"You're so confusing Rantaro... I just want to help you... I don't want to feel worthless anymore...." I muttered.

So this is the next chapter. I tried to make it more emotional, showing you all a bit more of reader-chan. This is based off of the comic _Aesthetic_Panta_ made for me.
I also donated 1 pint of blood this week lol. I'm still facing backlash from it. I made this drawing that references DRv3 and prologue chapter 9 of this Fanfiction. Comment on what it is, and I'll tell you if you're correct. For the people on Quotev, that'll be on the next page lol.

I also had no entries for this week, so I'm reusing the prompt for last week.

Prompt 5 (reprise): "Reader-Chan's childhood prediction"

I hope I get something for this prompt. I'll update next week! Ciao- CRUSIFIXdroid
