Chapter 7

It shows just how much I pay attention to him. I mean my brother told me someone from our neighborhood had made the team. I mean I was expecting like the short stocky built sophomore to have made the team as a middle linebacker or something. The thought of him making the team never crossed my mind. I mean come to think of it, he doesn't see like the football type of guy. He looks more like illegal drag racing or underground fighting than anything else. But, I was always told never judge a book by its cover. And here I was doing exactly that.

Lesson learned Emery.

I watch Damien from the bleachers as his hair is dripping with sweat. He carelessly brushes his fingers through his hair and pushes his hair back. It was like he could sense my eyes drilling burrows in the side of his noggin. Instantaneously, his head turns and his eyes snap in my directions. My icy blue eyes stare back into his beautiful golden honey eyes. It left like the world was coming to a halt. Muffled voices could be heard from a distance, everyone was moving in a blur, however, he and I were rooted to our spots. Either one of us moving.

"Black!"

The noise from the coach breaks our stare down. Blinking away the confusion on why I felt what I felt( I glance around to see if anyone had noticed. To my fate, my sister and her clique of cheerleaders are glaring in my direction full of hate. This causes me to recoil back into myself once again. I watch from afar as they practice. For once my attention hadn't been on my brother instead it's been only on one person. One guy. One heartbreak waiting to happen if I don't get my mind in check. Shaking my thoughts out of my head, I turn my attention back to my brother. Just as I do, I watch as the defensive middle linebacker breaks the through the offensive line. I watch in horror as the "Jack" the hybrid linebacker/defensive end goes one direction as the middle goes another. Dead center of their paths is Silas. One goes up high while the other goes low; folding my brother up like a lawn chair. I scream as my brother hits the field and doesn't move. I don't know who I'm more pissed off at; my brother, the teammates that tackled him, or the idiots who let them through. I take off running towards the field as the medical team comes into view.

This isn't good.

By the time I have made it to the field and managed to knock players out of my way. I come to a halt beside my brother who's still lying on the ground.

"Damn it Silas! Get up before I shove my foot so far up...." I didn't even finish my threats.

"Em, be quiet for a moment. I just got my ass handed to me." Silas says with his eyes closed and a small smile graced his lips.

"Goddamn Silas, you had me running down here like a lunatic for what you big idiot!? I nearly had a heart attack from running jackass. Get the hell up before I punch your throat." I growl out.

"I can't help it you're so sensitive." Silas retorts as he begins to stand back on his two legs again.

"Asshole." I grumble out as I shove my wobbly brother back down on the ground.

Not caring if he broke a leg or not. The nerve of that asshole.

"Great play you two." Silas compliments the players as I head back towards my seat.

I can see Damien from my right side; he's staring burrows into the side of my face. I roll my eyes and flip him the middle finger.

"Paint a picture it'll last longer." I call out.

"Nah, my memory would last longer." He jokes.

Shaking my head I open the gate and take my seat back on the bleachers. An hour later, practice is over. I walk to Silas's car and wait for him to get out of the locker room. I watch as players slowly exit the locker room. Silas is one of the last to exit. The ride home is anything but quiet. Silas and I continue our sibling banter all the way to our driveway. As I get out I can see Damien's motorcycle in his driveway. I make my way to my room and take my seat at my window. I open my window and pull my homework out. I'm halfway done with my work when I heard his voice arguing with someone on the phone. Glancing out my opened window; I can see Damien's forehead is creased, he's pacing around his yard while throwing his one arm in the air like a mad man.

"Damn it Lily! Shut up."

"...."

"No, just because I stare at her doesn't mean anything."

"...."

"Jesus Lils shut up. No, I don't like her."

"...."

"I'm going to strangle you when you get home."

"...."

"Haha very funny. She just caught me off guard with her hook."

"..."

"Whatever Lily get back soon with dinner. I'm hungry and you're starting to kill my appetite."

He slides his phone in his pocket. As he turns back around, his eyes snap back to mine. He's shocked eyes turns into a deadly glare as he storms off into his house.

What was that about?

A/N:

It's a shorter chapter. However, the next one will be longer. ❤️
