Chapter 3

"I'm hoping you all love to read." The teacher says with a sly smirk on her face. There's several groans and whines from students. Her random statement has me lifting my head off my desk and giving her my full attention.

"This won't be your typical English class. I will be writing books on this white board and each of you must take notes and write each of these down. This list is the list of books we'll be going over." She announces. Now this definitely has my attention. Books are like the oxygen we breathe to me. If we're going to be reading all semester; count me in. I can hear several more groans of annoyance in the class. But I zone them out and listen to our teacher.

"This is also we're we will discuss each book and have debates. Don't get to violent." She states as she looks directly at him. I almost crack a smile until I remembered who she was cracking a joke at. Once she's done writing her list..... Extremely long list. A smile does break out on my face. I have read over ninety-five percent of her list.

This is going to be a piece of cake.

A walk in the park.

There's several protests and several more whines.

"Seriously! We have to read all those? That's an ungodly amount of books. I won't be do it." Allie protests.

"Then prepare to fail this class,Allie." Is all Ms. Fritz says. She moved to the other side of the white board and begins to write.

"Along with those books; we will read so poems and short stories. They'll be placed in between each book so that the books aren't back to back. I can't fry all your brains now, can I?" She says as she turns back around and stares down at Allie.

Lord this teacher is imitating.

Edgar Allan Poe

That's all she wrote.

That means we're going to be reading one his poems and short stories in between each of these books. How the hell does she expect us to complete all that in six months? I mean I've read most the books on the list but also have to his poems and short stories. That's impossible.

Has she gotten high off bleach?

"There isn't a spell or magic big enough in this universe that would help us finish that list!" Someone practically shouts out.

"It isn't that bad guys." Silas grumbles out. When did he get here? I don't remember seeing my brother in this class!

"Sorry we aren't like Emery who reads all her damn life!" Allie growls out. Before I could defend myself; my brother already has.

"If you take your education seriously, you would have read like she does." Silas says. He looks my direction and shoots me a smile; which I return.

"Well, I rather not throw my reputation down the drain and become a nerd like her." Allie shoots back.

"At least she's going somewhere in life. Unlike someone." He fires right back.

"It seems a sibling war has started." Another student jokes.

"Like where? To a coffee shop and read manuscripts all day?" Allie snaps back.

"At least it's farther than you....." Silas begins to say.

"Enough. At least I'm taking my education seriously so I can get the hell out this damn place and as far away from you as possible. If you weren't such a egotistic bitch; maybe you would have gotten into that university that you so desperately wanted to go to. Instead of taking studying seriously; you rather go party, get shit faced, and or fucked by whomever has a damn eye and dick..... I rather study so I can go somewhere in life. Unlike you." I snap back. There's a lot of oh's and ah's coming from students in the class. Before Allie can retaliate she's cut off.

"Enough!" Ms. Fritz says with a stern voice.

"Damn! Jumping Jelly Bean has a bite to go with that punch." Damien says in a low voice only I can hear him.

I think.

I try not to laugh. I truly did. But, his random comment has me chuckling.

What have I gotten myself into.

He's going to dig a hole in this earth and bury me alive.
