Chapter 29
"Damien needs to wife her up."
Excuse me... Damien needs to what?
I snap out of my trance like state and crouch down next to Eve. She's the closest injured person to me. So, she was my first stop.
"Are you okay?" I ask her with tears threatening to spew from my eyes.
"Yeah. It hurts like a bitch." She says through clenched teeth.
"Everleigh Jolene Creed! What were you thinking?!" Draven yells out from the crowd of people. She bites back her tears as I help her up. I don't know if the tears are from the pain or her father yelling at her.
Probably both if I had to guess.
"I'm sorry daddy! I saw Damien get shot and I knew the boys could handle it." She says with tears in her eyes. For a moment my heart tightens when she says that. Did her and Damien have a thing? I quickly mask my emotions before anyone could see.
"I think of Damien like a brother. He's all your's Sis." Eve whispers as she squeezes my hand. I guess I never masked my emotions quick enough. Or she truly understands me in such a short time. Damien is already on one of the stretchers in the back of the medic van. Eve climbs in the second one. Blade places a chair at the heads of the stretchers for me to sit down. Which I do. I hold onto Eve's hand while my other hand rests on Damien's shoulder. Mac tends to Eve while Doc tends to Damien. I watch both with laser focused eyes. I might have found what I would go to college for.
A doctor, a nurse, or something in the medical field.
I watch as Doc works on cleaning out the bullet hole in Damien's shoulder. Apparently it was an enter and exit. It missed all major veins and arteries. It didn't hit bone or any organs. It simply went through his shoulder. The whole time he was getting worked on, his eyes stayed on me. I glance down at Eve's leg and see Mac cleaning out her hole. Her wound is exactly like Damien's except in her leg. I watch as Eve gets stitches in the sides of her calf. Her leg gets wrapped up. Mac grabs crutches from the van wall and holds onto them for Eve. Damien is now in a sling which looks painful. We're the last group to arrive at the clubhouse. When we get there Bear and Draven's dad are already in the cells questioning some of the ones they've captured. I walk with everyone downstairs to see how everything is going and how this shit works. Draven knocks on the interrogation glass. Bear walks out and stands by the closed door.
"How's it going?" Draven asks.
"Good so far. Everyone we've interviewed women wise were taken and made to do whatever they were assigned too. Some as club bunnies, some as strippers, and some were made to sell their bodies." Bear growls out in a deadly tone.
"Send them to our second chapter if they wished to stay. They ones that don't, take them to Wiz for new identifies." Kaiser instructs.
By the end of everything, twenty women are getting shipped to the second chapter. Ten children will accompany them. Thirty women and seven children are heading up to Wiz for new identities. We all sat and listened to each of their stories. Most of them truly broke even the coldest hearts here. The ones going to the other chapter are already loaded into vans with new identities. We all escorted the rest upstairs to Wiz. I watch as he works, he's quick on the computer. I can see why he's their tech guy.
"Make sure each have an banking account set up before they leave. Before we take them to the airports and bus stops; we need to give them money to start off with until their cards get delivered to their new homes. You know the drill Wizard." Draven says.
Wizard?
Wiz is short for Wizard? I can see it. He is a wizard with technology. Each one has picked places on the other side of the country. Wiz has made numerous ids and socials. Along with birth certificates. Plane tickets and bus tickets have been purchased, along with housing. In a small envelope has money for them to live off of for the next few weeks until their cards come in. When I say all these people are set for a better start in life, I mean it.
These people might be part of an MC. A dangerous MC at that, but they're a caring MC. They like to protect their community and abused women and children. I learned some of the prospects, they've rescued.
Am I making a mistake with keeping so many dangerous people in my life.... A dangerous MC at that? I don't think so. I think I've made the right decision with my second family. I can see myself around these people for years to come. So, no I don't regret any decisions that led me to them. Or the decision to stand beside each of them.
They're my second family. My second home. My second lifeline. And I'm grateful to meet such wonderful people.
