The letter

"Papa! You got a letter!" The postman smiles and figures how perfect the family was. Jin runs around the house in a towel to find his father so he could successfully deliver the post to him.

As Jungkook was kept assistance in his floor by his other brothers, all wrapped up in towels including Namjoon himself who took a shower in less than 2 minutes, he thanks the eldest and takes the letter to read it after adjusting his spectacles.

"Dear parent, ...." his smile fades.

It was about Jin's admission into their dream school. Or... what their mother had always mentioned about.

Paramount High.

Located deep within the valleys, Jin was prepared to attend this school all by himself. He's been good since kindergarten and his father was showing no resistance or hesitancy in sending the kid there. He's seven, he can manage himself, he often said to himself.

Taking a deep breath, curious TaeTae clinging onto him, Namjoon turns to Jin. With his round doe eyes and forever puckering plump lips, Jin looks at his father and understands the predisposition of the words about to come from his father.

"Jinnie. You got into the school, sweetie. I'm so proud of you." Jin sure expected something else, Namjoon's expression wasn't full. The bluntness in Namjoon's conversation and statement made Jin question.

Why was papa not happy?

A normal seven year old might brush the topic off with ease. But Jin is a super clever child with blessed understanding and perceptions of the adult world. Only a scarce population of modern children possess that attitude. (Not my developmental psychology notes being used to write this book lmao)

"Papa..." Jin, evocative with his puppy eyes approaches his dad and engulfs him with his entirety around the big man. "Are you not happy with Jinnie?" He asks softly.

"Huh...?" Namjoon remained stunned. How could he have caught on things so quickly? Jin was surely gifted as it seemed but, he's more of an adult than most people Namjoon met in his life. The child's observing makes his father teary at some point. But that wasn't Namjoon.

Namjoon was a man with a strict sense of sensibility. He knows what to disclose as information and what to keep as a secret. He could keep a thousand secrets, but it appears that Jin might quickly grasp onto one or two secrets quietly through observation.

"I love you kids so much." He sees how his kids have pooled around his tall figure and ready to engulf him in a mature hug.

H-how did they grow up so fast?

This is every parent's thoughts when learned how quickly their children indeed grow out of their houses and into the world.

"It's... it's nothing, Jin." Namjoon felt awful lying to his own son. He felt as though he was committing a forbidden treason and waging war on a powerless country.

The truth was... the school, was international level and highly expensive. His head would go bald kind of expensive. The sadness of rejecting the offer strikes him so hard that he had to lie to Jin, one after the other lie.

With the remaining 17,000$ in his hands, Namjoon couldn't even strike a scholarship for Jin. Everything was a scam in this goddamn world.

"Papa... we don't have money, right?" Namjoon halts, at once.

How does Jin even know all these things? I barely talk about it? Namjoon thinks.

Oh. He must've been observing how I've been saving at supermarkets and cutting short on their dino-nuggies. Namjoon then quickly retrospects, coming up with the analysis.

He can't be too cautious, so he reveals.

"I'm sorry, baby. Papa can't afford the scholarship either. If I do that..." he looks at his sons, all doe eyed and ready to shed tears alongside their father. He keeps wondering on how his children turned out to be so wonderful and understanding. (BTS as a whole ksksks)

"Papa..." Jimin, known to be the least emotionally stable person of the seven hugs his father to rather find his own comfort. A three year old can demand that, especially if the environment is so stressful. Taehyung overlaps the situation by offering his father some borrowed toys of Jungkook, thinking that will cheer up Namjoon since it cheers him up.

All the cutesy things pile up onto the sadness on his heart. He bursts out into tears, the youngest not liking the sight of his dependent father crying as he too starts weeping loud. Namjoon, for once, didn't attend Jungkook who was crying because of him. He thought, maybe he should prioritize himself and stop offering his children the extra doses of affection every once in awhile.

But, at the same time, he knew perpetual damage would blossom on his children if he suddenly withdrew his affection. He can't do that, but to ensure their future, Namjoon has to sought things out now, or never in the future.

The choices were so close to nil, but he wanted to give something a try.

So he dials a number.

"Hey, Jackson."

"Hey, brother! How are you? I've been wanting to call you just now but—" Namjoon cuts the excitement short with the next few words. These words fell on Jackson like a Rollercoaster bomb. It made him think in multiple directions, multiple times.

"I know I'm asking for this too late, but....

Can you bake shit, Jackson?"

A/n: Now you know why Jackson was thinking in multiple directions lmao
