Father of 6

[One year later...]

Toddler in arms, pacifier as their necklace and the five children running around the huge house what what Namjoon was accustomed to. It has been a year since his wife had passed away so unfortunately, but the little things in his house has kept him sufficiently distracted to grief over his wife.

Today was her one year death anniversary as he hears the door bell ring.

"Hi Jackson."

"Hi, Joon. How are you doing?" He asks, helping his pregnant wife to climb up the porch with the little bag in their hands.

It was humorous how Namjoon and Jackson are from the same batch of high school yet Jackson was only blessed with a baby seven months ago. That does not change a thing about their friendship, though.

Climbing up to the porch while the father of six helps the pregnant woman by getting her to sit on the couch along side Jin and Yoongi, Namjoon goes around the kitchen to figure out the complex process of handling with chicken and curry.

The rice was done by the golden device itself, it needed no assistance nor did it need Namjoon to perform any tasks on it once it was measured and placed over.

"Namjoon, I think you need some help buddy. Also, Jungkook is crying." Jackson startles his buddy behind his back. Realizing soon as the voice of the one year old reaches Namjoon, he thanks his friend and instantly shoots the other apron at Jackson while he runs towards his youngest.

Jungkook was out of his crib, thanks to Taehyung and Jimin who were now occupying the crib.

"You two again..." Namjoon took an oath, like one of the Hippocratic oath that he will never get mad at his children, no matter what they do or who they bite...

"Jimin! Stop biting your twin!" Holding Jungkook in his arms, Namjoon yells at baby Jimin who was biting Taehyung on his arm. Taehyung began crying too.

"Argh!" He wanted to punch himself in the face.

"Need some help?" A female's voice greets him as he looks back at Jackson's wife.

"Yes. Please." The disparity in his voice was condemned to be the call of God from heaven.

And, an angel was sent.

"Jungkook seems to be hungry. Let me hold him for you." She says to the man who looks with concern.

"He is pretty heavy. He is around ten pounds." Namjoon says, concerned about the baby bump of hers.

"Not a problem, Namjoon. I'll feel better too." There was a much deeper meaning to that.

Jackson's wife had a bad miscarriage last year. She was traumatized because of her dreams collapsing right in front of her. The accident in which she was a victim, she happened to lose her child on deck of the bus which traumatized her for life.

Hence, without saying a word, Namjoon tries to satisfy her request as she holds baby Jungkook in her arms, on her waist so he does not potentially kick her tummy.

"Wow, he is pretty heavy for a one year old."

"It's a pity that it's his birthday today." Namjoon says, suddenly remembering about his one year anniversary of his wife's death.

It was tragic to maintain the balance between happiness and the guilty sadness in his heart for one who came to this planet and the one who left without a goodbye.

Namjoon carries Taehyung on his chest, the clingiest one of all surrendering to his father's warmth as he soon stops crying and sniffles on his father's neck, wiping his snot on Namjoon's shoulder.

Jimin sees both of his brothers held by two different people, he tilts his little head to the side and raises his arms silently. Of course, no one sees it but right after, Jin comes inside to see what was the commotion from earlier.

"H-hyung..." the two year old says, that immediately catches their attention.

Namjoon, wide eyed and star struck, he forgets about the initial sadness as Jackson's wife walks out to prepare Jungkook's mixture of drink and also to call Jackson to watch the third youngest start to speak.

"S-say it again, baby?" Patting the six year old Jin on his back, Namjoon encourages Jimin who stands up to his wobbly chubby feet and looks at Jin with his big puppy eyes. They soon shrink into small beautiful crescents at his smile.

"Jin H-hyung!" Saying that, he giggles in his baby boy voice and begins jumping inside the crib.

Jackson had missed the moment as he barges inside with Hoseok and Yoongi right behind him.

"Jimin started speaking?" He wipes his hands to the apron and asks Namjoon who nods and looks back.

"He did!" Hugging Taehyung out of pure joy, he kisses the second youngest on his head as Taehyung soon falls asleep on his chest.

Placing him on his little bed alongside a very active Jimin who was teething, he kisses both of them on their cheeks as he brings the bottles for them to feed and put them to their afternoon nap.

Three of the youngest sleep soundly after warm milk fills their bellies.

The other three were actively playing, giggling as they hit each other with the Legos and broken toy pieces.

Jackson sees that as he filters away the harmful things and let's them play.

Pinching Hoseok on his cheeks, the one who is deemed weird, the four year old smiles so big that Jackson almost felt his eyes going blind.

"Stay happy forever, sunshine." Nodding promptly at his words, Hoseok goes back to racking up the Legos to show his favorite hyung his collection. Yoongi is his favorite hyung.

"The lunch is lovely. Jasmine rice and chicken curry along with japchae. She would have loved it, Namjoon." Says Jackson's wife.

Namjoon suddenly grows blue, his smile falling and almost crying in front of the plate that is served with her favorite dishes.

"I don't know guys. It happened so suddenly. I miss her as much as I love these kids but they remain with me. They are my responsibility and I promised her that I will raise them to be beautiful people in the society." He says and sniffles softly. When he looks up, the couple see the red nose underneath the spectacles of the man while Jackson goes around to hug his dear friend.

"Shush... she will feel bad. Let's go to the cemetery after we eat. You know how bad she is going to scold you if you are on an empty stomach, right?" Jackson says. Namjoon nods his head and falls slightly into the male's embrace.

It felt good to have someone to lean onto. He was grateful for everything they all were doing for him.

Soon, they visit the cemetery with Jackson and the three elder ones in the car as his wife stayed at home and looked after the three sleeping puppies.

Namjoon goes out of the car, taking Jin with him because he is the eldest and the wisest of all his sons.

"Hey, love. Say hello to our eldest." He says and a breeze flows by.

"I will get everyone to you tomorrow. I don't want to ruin our son's birthday today by making him visit you. I know you're dying to see Jungkook, but he is still so young and delicate. I'm even afraid to carry him in my arms anymore. He is way too healthy too. All with your grace." He says, a few drops of tears falling down his cheeks.

Jin was holding his dad's hand as he raises his hand up.

He still couldn't reach Namjoon's face yet he tried to comfort the elder one.

Forever grateful for his eldest son, Namjoon instead goes down on his knees and kisses the boy on his cheek, hugging him later. Namjoon was never the type to do such things often to his children. He rather kept them safe at a distance but never showed them too much of fatherly love.

Not to forget, they needed a mother's love to grow beautifully too.

"I miss you, my love. I will love you and only you as I promised. I love you..." No words were coming out rather than I love yous and I miss you.

"I love you too, mom. I miss you so much." The six year old was no different from his father too.

The tree a few meters away from them suddenly showers them with a few cold leaves and flowers for the autumn.

September marked the coming age of winter, the season of loneliness and solitude.

And here, they go back home to celebrate Jungkook's one year birthday with their old couple neighbors and enjoy the day.

Evening at seven, Namjoon received a letter by email on his computer.

He checks it out as Jimin was trying to climb on his pant and reach his lap while his twin brother was already clinging onto Namjoon's neck like a koala.

It read:

Dear Namjoon,
We are sorry to inform you that you have been replaced by our new engineer Mr Dawson. We know that you are going through a tough time and we shall welcome you back soon.
An advance pay is sent to you and we shall see you again after three years, if you wish to continue with us.
Regards,
CEO Lee

That read.

It was a bittersweet news, because he checks the bank account as it deliberately shows him the increment and a paid leave for three years.

30,000$

That was not even enough for the members for one year...

"Oh lord..."

And now, he begins his life as a simple man of six, without a job.
