One thing I've found that makes a fanfiction interesting is incorporating Vocaloid songs with your story. There are countless songs you can use to not only inspire you to write, but also mention in your fanfiction. One example is the Evil series. An author could write from Rin's point of view, then Len's, and back to Rin again. Of course, you don't have to make everything the same as the lyrics of a song, you can add your own twists!

Like, what if, in Daughter/Servant of Evil, Len didn't follow Rin's order of getting rid of Miku and secretly runs off with Hatsune? Or maybe you want Kaito to actually like Rin as much as Rin likes him in the story, and create a love triangle between them and Miku? Of course, these are just ideas to get the gears turning. Use any song and twists you want! A Vocaloid's main purpose is to sing, so listening to their music may be just the help you need.
