Blossoms of the New Year

The girl next to him gave a huge yawn, her arms stretched before she placed them on her lap.

Her ribbon bobbed along with her nodding head as she tried to keep her eyes wide throughout the anime marathon she and her newly appointed boyfriend, Len, decided on doing the last day of the year 2016.

"Here, sleep if you want to no need to keep wide awake for an anime marathon."

He took off her ribbon and clips for her and leant her head to his chest, which thumped loudly when he felt something soft -that he was longing for- at his stomach.

"N-no... I will... definitely... muuu..."

Her eyes closed but snapped open again so did her body which jumped upright.

"I-I will definitely do it this year!"

Len knew that Rin was just pumped up over the fireworks as usual. They could see it nicely painted over across the river and onto the scenery the flowers she loves so much -well not as much as she loved him.

"Len! Do something that will keep me awake or something!"

He flinched when he heard her request. The first thing that popped up in his mind as a form of "help" was his hands tracing over her figure, all her curves nice and smooth as he imagined-

He felt a punch on his head as he fell over from the strength of the hit, his face still red from his lewd thoughts.

"Nothing perverted or I'll roll you over with the road roller."

A vein popped up from her temple as she clenched her fists, her knuckles turning white.

"Well I can't think of anything that would help you. This -like you said- "perverted" brain of mine isn't much help you know."

Len rubbed his head and got up, dragging his long sleeved shirt over the area of his crotch. (Even though he had baggy pants on, just for safety and privacy precautions)

"Hmm... I know! Let's go to the shrine festival nearby! Then we can quickly come back home to view the fireworks!"

Len gave a slight look of distaste but with the dark clouds over Rin's head, he changed for a brighter future.

"Alright let's go."

"Yay~! Len you're the best!"

Rin gave a chaste kiss on Len's cheek that made him flustered.

The crowd of people was overwhelming that Len doubted they could possibly reach the shrine to make their wishes.

"Rin, don't let go of my hand okay?"

"Roger commando!"

She cutely stuck out her tongue which made Len just scream inside but a gentle smile -as usual- on the outside.

He started pinching her cheeks which just earned him a strong jab in the gut.

"Oh! Rin and Len! Are you guys here to wish too?"

A familiar voice called out to them.

A tealette and pinkette made their way to Rin and Len.

"This is so adorable you guys are like start OTP at this point for me!"

Miku squealed as she squished her cheeks against Rin's warm ones as Luka and Len just shook hands and stood at the side seeing Rin and Miku being all friendly.

"Why don't you leave the lovebirds alone to their quality time Miku?"

Gumi snickered and entered the scene with IA and Kaito, who was a rare sight to see since he would normally coop himself up in a futon at home and savour another one of those big tubs of vanilla ice cream he had at home.

"Don't you guys have anything better to do than tease me and Len?"

Rin sternly question only to be replied with giggles and chuckles.

"Kid when you grow up you will find the joy of teasing!"

Gumi grandly stated and pat Rin's back roughly, like a mom would to a child when they choke but more harder.

"Ohh like you and Yuuma then I see I see..."

Len's smart comment got Gumi off guard and she blushed a scarlet red instantly.

"Hahahaha I have no clue what you're talking about banana boy the bananas have made you go bananas!"

"I think you're the only one going bananas on New Year's Eve Gumi."

IA calmly said which forced Gumi to shut down her haughty act.

"At least Gumi's got the spirit to make things fun! Come on let's go!"

Miku raised her hand and rushed through the crowd dragging Luka along.

They threw in a coin and clapped their hands together, making a silent prayer and wish for the upcoming 2017.

They then headed to a small hill, isolated from human souls to watch the fireworks -since Len said it would have a better view.

"What did you wish for?"

Len grabbed Rin's hand and dragged her into his lap, making her blush.

"If I tell you know it won't happen you know I'll tell you after the fireworks..."

"Mmh..."

He planted his nose into her golden locks of hair and smelled her. She smelled like oranges, the exact same scent he smelled when he fell head over heels for her.

"Hey, Len..."

A muffled 'hm?' came out from his lips, probing her to proceed with her sentence.

"Do you think... we will stay like this forever...?"

The question made Len snap his eyes open and jolted him upright.

"What made you think like that?"

"W-well... I never had a boyfriend before... So that more or less proves that I have no special attributes. I mean I can see that I don't in the first place; flat chested, violent temper, troublesome, etcetera... So you may just leave me for someone better like Miku or IA, I mean they're popular so there's definitely something about them that would just steal you away from me..."

He could feel her shaking, definitely not from the cold but from the raw fear portrayed in her words.

She really loved him, she didn't want him to leave her for someone else -even if it is highly possible. He was practically her pillar of light. She remembered him taking her out of the darkness, prevented her from becoming like the girl in Tokyo Teddy Bear or worse.

He shifted her off his lap and next to him. He grabbed her hands firmly in his and gave them a warm puff of air to keep the shivering girl of human body temperature.

"I've been with you for so long and I've always been yours; since the moment we were created as Vocaloids. I wouldn't abandon you, ever. Not now, not ever. You're too precious for me to even consider letting you go. Did you forget that one time you were beaten by some schoolmates and you wanted to end your life?"

He reminded her of the dark times she faced when he wasn't around, and that was in the previous school they were admitted to. For some reason girls started treating her like trash -excluding the other Vocaloid girls.

She remembered that Len had brought her out from that dark pit of depression, he prevented her from ending her life.

Since that day he never ignored her, he was always with her and he forced Master to give back their room that they shared since young.

Rin blushed as she remembered Len's determined face when he told Master he wanted to take care of her better.

One thing led to another and now they were a couple which Rin still can't believe till now and was still questioning its lifespan.

"Anyways, I hate that kind of Rin, I love the bubbly, cheerful, violent tomboy -the one I fell in love with- and her entire self. I don't care about physical features because you basically triumphed over everyone in terms of beauty."

He paused as he heard a firework in the distance, they were already in the New Year.

Great he thought I can actually fulfill my resolution

"I love you, Rin. Forever till death I promise I won't let go of your warm hands."

He smiled gently as tears streamed down Rin's face. She whimpered slightly before giving a goofy smile.

"I love you too, Len... Also that's really corny for you to plan your first words of the New Year to be 'I love you'."

She gave a soft giggled as the fireworks exploded in the sky and blossomed like beautiful flowers.

"It's beautiful... I can't believe I finally lasted till midnight this year..."

"You're more beautiful you know? Rinny."

"That was cheesier than cheese!"

She jabbed him lightly in the gut for his romantic lines that really just shot a bullseye at her heart.

"Well I only speak the truth mi amore."

"Hey, Rin turn to me for a second."

She did as told and immediately felt something press against her lips.

A gentle kiss that she melted into immediately, so did Len.

The fireworks blossomed beautifully as they shared their first loving kiss, with Rin's heart exploding along with them.

As the last firework dissipated they let go of the tender kiss and stared into each other's eyes, only to start laughing out loud afterwards.

Len looked forward to spending more and more time with Rin in the New Year, so did Rin.

"Hey Rin, so what did you wish for you said you'd tell me."

She giggled and punched him lightly.

"What an impatient boyfriend. I wished to spend more time with you and maybe more romantic gestures from you..."

She smiled brightly before questioning him what he wished for.

He whispered some words into her ear which made her blush heavily and him to chuckle at her red ears.

What did he wish for? Up to you to decide~
