Cause I'm black, right?

all day. Every day. Every freaking day. All I hear is:

"You don't act black."

I do apologize for not acting like the stereotype you are so accustomed to seeing on your television and hearing in the music you don't truly understand.

"You don't sound black."

I dearly apologize for the lack of knowledge you have obtained, dear. According to my knowledge, I don't sound like anyone except myself.

"That's not your real hair."

Did I spend my money on it? Then it's my hair. It's how I keep my hair contained seeing as though my natural hair and cornrows are too black for you, yet your idols copy it as though it was originally a fashion trend. But I do thank you for the concern you have shared about the dead cells strands that are on top of my head.

"She ain't really black."

So I'm assuming that even though I have dark brown skin, tangled black hair, and the fact that I have to circle 'Black/African American' on college, job, and scholarship applications, I still truly am not black.

"You're too quiet to be black."

I was unaware that my skin color determined the volume of my voice.

"You're to educated to be black."

I was completely unaware that the knowledge that I obtained over the past 11+ years of schooling was the determining factor to what my race was. Did you not complete the same schooling, have the same teachers, and attend the same classes? Maybe if you would stop worrying why there was only one colored person your AP classes then you would be at the top of your class too.

"She like white boys anyways, she ain't really black."

I don't like boys, I like men. And last I checked,  my man is clearly racially informed as well as supportive in my beliefs. I clearly would not be with him if he wasn't. But I do thank you for choosing having concerns about a relationship that isn't yours.

"I can say nigga if I want."

You're right. You can also get your ass beat.

"Do you listen to black people music?"

I was uninformed that certain races had certain music that they are supposed listen to, but if you are asking if I listen to Black artist, then I do as well as White artist, Hispanic artist, and any other race that produced a song that pleasures my ears. May I ask if you listen to white people music? Also know as country?

"Black lives matter is racist."

Black lives matter was created a year after the death of Trayvon Martin, a unarmed black teenager, was killed shot and killed by George Zimmerman. Black lives matter was created to clearly state that black lives mattered just as much as any other race in this country. We are simply not a police officers 'target practice'. Black lives matter has not stated that any form of black life was worth more than any other life, but that it was equal to every other life.

Black lives matter is not racist. Though, your 'All Lives Matter.' Seems to be, seeing as though all your 'movement' has done was state the obvious, yet you still want deportation of innocent people just trying live their lives and you still discriminate against Muslims as well as would rather them be banned from our lovely country than to see them minding there business on a daily basis.

"Black women are extinct."

I'm alive and well, sitting on my high throne like the chocolate skinned, wild haired, care free, queen that I am.

"Why don't we have white history month?"

I'm sorry, what is US History? It's a school course we take for 12+ years. Stop complaining over one month that only has 28 days.

"Y'all always talk about slavery. Get over it."

Y'all always talk about the Hitler. Why?

"Why don't you act like the other black girls?"

I'm sorry. Your question is invalid. I am not a girl, I am a young woman. A young woman is someone who has an opinion to be shared and a mindset of her own, some one who is intelligent, and is someone who should be respected. By adding the word 'black' in front of the word 'woman' nothing should change.

My opinion is going to be shared no matter how dark my skin is. I will walk, talk, work, and believe as I please. I am smart enough to pass tests, get through college, apply for jobs, build businesses and run the world. I should be respected just as well as any other women and I damn well will not let the opinion of anybody, including the men of my own race stop me from being as successful as I know I am already going to be.

But to answer the invalid question, no 'black girl' is created the same. Some prefer parties or twerking while other prefer a pen, paper, and book. Last time I checked, we could actually do both seeing as though my culture is well known for the poetry you know as rap that blares through the speakers at your parties.

Don't ask we why I'm black.

Don't stereotype me into a category you know nothing about.

Don't be so ignorant.

If you wanna learn something, then be willing to listen. Be willing to understand. Be willing to help fix a problem in America that has yet to be solved.

Stop asking useless questions that are a waste of time.
