Chapter Twenty Nine

Cliche hit 10K!
Woo!
Damn, I've had a strange day.

John Pov
I heard a shout, and immediately bolted out of bed. I saw Alex clutching his arm at the end of the hotel bed.

Holy shit that's the most disgusting thing I've ever fucking seen.

His blood was getting all over the hotel bed.

"Shit!" Alex shouted, trying to stop the blood.

I jumped off the bed and ran to the bathroom, opening cabinets and looking for a
first aid kit,
bandaids,
bandages,
fucking anything.

I turned around and saw a first aid kit on the wall. I pulled it out of the glass and ran back to Alex.

He groaned, still grabbing his wrist. Fuck!
His blood is everywhere!
It was just gushing out of his arm like there was no tomorrow.

I gagged when his blood got on me.

I opened the first aid kit, taking out a roll of bandages and wrapping it around his arm. I gagged a few more times in the process.

Alex yelped and groaned when I had to tighten it around his wrist. He stifled a sob and I held back a gag.

"It's okay, it's okay, you're alright."
I said, pulling Alex it a hug.

He choked back a few sobs and muttered, "It hurts,"

He wasn't necessarily crying, if you don't count tears threatening to fall from someone's eyes.

"I know it does, but try to relax, Okay Alex?" I asked. He nodded and I pulled away.

I looked back at the hotel bed.
It looked like there was a fucking murder.

"Shit.."
I muttered, scanning the room.

There was blood on the carpet,
the bed,
and there was a little bit on even fucking me.

I started to rip the sheets of the bed, Alex trying his best to help. I heard the door knob shake, and then the sound of keys.

Oh fuck!
The people with this room must've gotten here!

I grabbed the blankets, and the first kit and sprinted into the bathroom, turning off the light. Alex quickly followed me.

Alex's eyes were bright in the dark. I heard the people come in.

"..where are all the blankets?"
One of them asked.

"I don't know.
Check the closet maybe?
I don't know why they would've taken the sheets though." Another replied.

Because there was Alex's blood all over them.

"Is that fuckin cool aid on the carpet?" Someone asked.

What?
No.
It's Alex's blood.

"There's no blankets in the closet."
The other said.

"Want to go downstairs and go ask about it?" One asked.

"Seems reasonable."

I heard the two walk out and shut the door. Alex and I waited for about ten seconds before grabbing the sheets and sprinting down the hall, and into the elevator.

We saw two people at the desk. Alex and I walked out, casually holding blood covered sheets.

The second we were out of the hotel, we took off like bullets.

"Alleyway!"
Alex exclaimed.

I nodded, taking a turn and sprinting into the alley. I saw a trash can and put the sheets inside of it.

"God damn."
Alex muttered, sitting down.

"You know, we outta get jobs soon. I'm fucking hungry." I said, sitting down next to him.

"Or we could just steal for now. We should get outta state before getting jobs." He said.

"How would we get out of state?" I asked.

"Buses.
Trains.
Hitchhike.
Bikes."
He listed.

"Fair enough, though we've learned our lesson about hitchhiking." I muttered.

"We should really get you to a doctor. I'm almost certain you need stitches."
I said.

He glanced at his arm.
"Yeah your probably right. But no doctors though. I'll find stuff to do it myself." He said.

I got up, sticking a hand out for Alex. He grabbed it and pulled himself up.

"So what do you want to do today?"
I asked.

"Find food. Then we should get going outta state sometime tomorrow."
He said.

I nodded. We walked in the city, trying not to draw much attention which was pretty easy.

It's not like people actually were on 'look out' for us. Police are, not just regular people. If they send bounty hunters after us, we're screwed.

No wonder Alex said we should head outta state.

"Hey,"
Alex said, nudging me.

He pointed towards a grocery store.
We crossed the street, and went inside. The air conditioning was nice.

The hotel had pretty shitty AC.

Alex rolled up his sleeves and walked over to the shelf for bread and such, me by his side.

We instantly started to take things off the shelf. A worker glanced over and started to say,

"Wait..Hey-"

Alex made a run for it, me trailing close behind him.

"Hey!" The worker shouted, running after us.

Alex and I ran out, sprinting down the sidewalk. We pushed through crowds, a worker still close after us.

I grabbed Alex's hand and ran into a Walgreens.

"Do you have a bathroom?"
I asked the lady at the counter, completely out of breath.

She looked at me very confused and nodded.

I mean, two men in their early twenty's, out of breath,
holding bread and
asking for your bathroom,
isn't a usual sight.

"It's at the back of the building next to the pharmacy." She told me in an excruciatingly slow voice.

I groaned internally as I was the worker spot us through the glass doors.

Alex grabbed my hand and jogged to the back of the building. He must've noticed too.

We went into the bathroom and locked the door.

"That was sort of fun."
Alex muttered, out of breath.

I heard shouting outside the door.
I glanced up at the small window in the bathroom.

"Imma break that window. Or open it or whatever. Hold this,"
I said, handing Alex the bread I took.

He nodded, taking it from me.
I stood on the tips of my toes and opened the window, unlocking it.

"I'll boost you up and then get out after you, Alright?" I asked.

"Sounds good."

Next thing I knew, the two of us were booking it down North Ninety-Sixth street.
