Chapter One: New Beginnings
Eliza
I had always been excited for High School. Especially recently, with Back-To-School season coming around. Especially since my sister Angelica's stories were always so funny. Especially with that new boy, Alexander Hamilton.
"Betsey! It's time to go shopping!" Peggy cried. Luckily, I had already gotten dressed. Sort of. As I slipped on a baggy T-shirt, Peggy barged in. "You're wearing that? Betsey, you've always had that T-shirt! It's never fit you." I rolled my eyes and hopped next to the vanity. As I sat down on the little cushion, Peggy examined my T-shirt.
"Well, I like it. Supporting my favorite musical isn't so bad, is it?" I asked. I batted my eyelashes, and put on my pouty face.
"It is if that musical is decades old, and stopped shows five years ago." Peggy scoffed. She began rifling through my closet and throwing things on the floor. I got up and stopped her from making my room even more of a pigsty.
"Well, Kitty likes it." I replied. I grabbed my purse and began preparing to leave.
"Just change, Betsey, I can help you choose another outfit." She begged. she showed me other T-shirts, a sweater, even a dress.
I pouted. I mean, I love Peggy, but she can't ever keep a secret and always says such scand
I looked down at my old baggy T-shirt, complete with stains. I had always been skinny, even when I had tried to gain weight and work out, and this T-shirt made it more noticeable. I sighed.
"Fine. Have any ideas?"

As Peggy's eyes scanned the mall for new clothes, I watched for my best friend, Catherine (or Kitty, as I call her,) Livingston. We were sitting at a nice table with metal chairs. I noticed a boy on his phone sitting at the table next to us on his phone, his sparkling brown eyes reading about the life of Anne Boleyn.
Finally, I saw Kitty's familiar face. My brown eyes filled with glee as I sprinted towards my friend. She was surprised by my sudden hug, and nearly fell over. I was always thought to be the calm one in our friendship.
"Betsey! You're embarrassing me!" Kitty squealed. She interlocked our arms and started walking aimlessly around, watching the back-to-school posters and banners being hung, glimmering in the sunlight of the glass ceiling.
"Oh, sorry!" I exclaimed. I had tried to be funny, but I guess that didn't work. Kitty's green eyes darted back and forth.
"Where's Peggy?"I looked around. I could not seem to find Peggy anywhere. Then it hit me.
"Oh, I think I left her at the tables near Starbucks. We should walk back there, she must be so worried!" I cried. I lead Kitty back to the table, and weaved through the crowds of people in the mall. From its glass ceiling to polished floors, it was full of sales.
As we arrived Kitty and Peggy conversed.
"Do you have Peggy's school supplies list?" Kitty asked. Peggy went red and pouted.
"I don't need a list! I know what I need!" Peggy fumed. Kitty rolled her eyes. As Peggy fought her case, I interrupted her.
"I'm sorry, but, last time you went shopping with Maria, you just got make-up and didn't tell anyone you didn't have school supplies 'til the day before. Angelica was very mad, remember?" I replied. As I rummaged through my purse for the list, a teenager looked at us.
"You mean Angelica Schuyler?" He asked. He had long hair tied back in a ponytail, and bright brown eyes.
"Who's she to you?" I raised one eyebrow, and placed Peggy behind me. I'd never met this boy in my life, and now he was talking about my sister?
"She's my classmate! I'm Alexander, Alexander Hamilton." He smiled. I nearly melted, Alexander's smile was heartwarming. I blanked out. Peggy tapped me on the back.
"Oh, sorry, uh, Angelica's my sister. I'm Elizabeth Schuyler, nice to meet you." I turned back to my table. Then I remembered something.
"Hey, Alexander, can you help us find school supplies? I mean you are going to our future school and all." I asked, and Alexander looked surprised. He went a bit pink.
"Uh, yeah I guess!" he chirped. I smiled, and Kitty cheered.
"Thank you very much, both of us were very nervous. Oh, and, this is Catherine, my best friend, and Peggy, my sister." I gestured towards them. Peggy waved and Kitty smiled. I feel like something exciting is happening.
Alexander
I tried to explain to Elizabeth and Catherine all the cliques and who's who. I think Elizabeth really liked my help, and she kept on thanking me a lot. I could tell how both Peggy and Elizabeth were Angelica's sisters. Peggy had Angelica's looks and fashion sense, whereas Elizabeth had her wits and love of reading.
"So, there are some people you should look out for." I said, looking Elizabeth in the eyes. Oh god, her eyes sparkled in the light. I could feel my face burning up.
"Well, can you give me some names?" Elizabeth asked. She held onto her skirt and twisted the fabric.
"There's James Reynolds, Thomas Jefferson, John Carter, Maria Lewis -"
"Maria Lewis?! She's my best friend! No way!" Peggy shouted. Elizabeth nearly had to hold her back. Elizabeth just held Peggy's hand.
"I'm sure this is just some misunderstanding, Peggy. Leave it." Elizabeth commanded. Peggy stopped. She still glared at me, but from a distance. She walked next to Kitty for the rest of the day.
"Hey, Elizabeth, can I call you Eliza? It's much less long and suits you better." I asked. Uh oh, regret time. I could feel my face heating up again as I looked around, anywhere except Eliza.
"Sure!"
Author's Note (can skip):
You may notice that even though Eliza's part is in first person, she uses 'her' and 'she' when talking about herself. This is because I thought it could be in third person but still focus on whoever's part it was. However, I kept on writing in first person accidentally, and eventually I just stuck with it. I tried to change as much as I could, and tried to proof read. It is possible that some parts slipped. Please excuse this, as I am just beginning to write on here.
