Chapter 2
For people who have read the other sequel, the first part of this is the same but the end is DIFFERENT so to be caught up, you should probably read it all. But if you don't want to, I'll put an " • " where the different part starts
FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE NOT READ MT RECENT BOOKS: my writing style has changed (and hopefully gotten better). I wrote Socially Awkward almost TWO years ago. So once you get to the part I changed, you might see a difference in writing styles. Unless I decide to add more from the discontinued sequel, the book will be written in my present writing style. (I can't really change it so I don't really have a choice haha).
Chapter 2 - The Beach!!
I look over at the clock again, it still read 3:23. Of course, after the fireworks, everyone went back to the resort building we were living in to go to sleep. But, as I was in bed, I could never fall asleep. Now, here I am in bed trying to go to sleep alone.
I forgot to mention, Katelyn didn't trust me and Zane sleeping together in the same bed so she made Zane sleep on the couch. Being the unsocial introvert Zane is, he didn't want to sleep on the couch with Garroth. And, being the best girlfriend I am, I basically begged Katlyn to let Zane to even sleep in the same room as me. Finally, Katelyn gave up and let Zane sleep on the couch in our room even though there's not a lot of space on it.
I stepped off of the bed, planning to go down the stairs to go grab some water for my dry throat. After stumbling around, trying to find my way to the door, I found my way down the stairs. I tried my best not to cover my ears because of how loud Garroth's snoring was. He is seriously abusing his vocal cords right now.
I shook my head and continued over to the kitchen, opening the fridge and grabbing a bottle of water. "(Y/N)?" I hear someone whisper my name behind the fridge door. I closed the door and came face-to-face with Aaron. We both took a step back.
"Hey Aaron, what are you doing up?" I whisper back.
He chuckles, "You really think I can sleep with all the snoring Garroth is doing?"
I raise my eyebrow, looking confused. I didn't hear Garroth in Zane and I's room thankfully so why would it bother him? "I don't hear it in my room."
He sighs, "Katelyn was against the idea of me and Aphmau sleeping together so I'm sleeping on the couch with Garroth to hopefully gain some trust from her."
I smile, thinking of how protective Katelyn was. It was kind of refreshing, though, I felt like she was my mother when she said that. Even though I don't need a parent anymore to guide me through what to do and what not to do, it made me kind of happy that she was trying to look out for us. It meant she actually cared.
"She said the same thing to Zane, she didn't want him sleeping in the same bed with me. I knew Zane wouldn't want to sleep on the couch with other people so I begged Katelyn to allow Zane to sleep on the couch in our room."
Aaron furrowed his eyebrows, "Isn't the couch in the rooms small? I would think that's uncomfortable."
"He's socially awkward, I know how he would feel if he had to sleep with other people on the couch. Zane already tries to stay away from people as much as possible so why would he want to sleep with other people?"
"I guess you're right," Aaron admits. "So what are you doing down here?"
I wave my water bottle in front of me, "My throat is dry, it actually kind of hurts to talk at the moment."
"Oh, well, to spare you from talking, I'm going to go try to go to sleep-- even though I think it's impossible at the moment," He mumbled the last part but I could still hear it making me chuckle.
I gave him a thumbs up and waved to him as I walked back to the stairs, heading up to my room.
***
I was woken up by a loud knock on the door. Taking the time I had, I looked around to see that Zane was out of the room, he probably woke up and just decided to let me sleep. Good choice. "(Y/N)?" Aphmau said outside of my door.
I groaned and shut my eyes, covering my face with my pillow. "(Y/N), wake up, Aaron and I are making breakfast."
Okay, breakfast does sound good right now, but when doesn't food sound good? Aphmau sighed from outside the door, "(Y/N), if you don't get up I'm going to threaten you like I did Kawaii-Chan and Lucinda."
"And what is that?" I asked, taking the pillow off my face.
"I'll eat your breakfast," She answered. You could tell she was grinning, happy that the threat got everyone out of bed.
"Aphmau," I began, "If you touch even one little piece of my food with the intention of eating it, you'll have no hand for the rest of your life."
"Meep!" She squeaked just like she did yesterday when Aaron threatened her.
"But," I sighed, rising up from the bed, "I'll come down anyways."
"Yay! She hollered before I heard footsteps descend away from the door and down the stairs.
***
When I dressed in my normal everyday clothes, I headed downstairs and pulled up a chair to sit in between Aphmau and Katelyn. But, of course, since Katelyn wanted to keep an eye on Aphmau and Aaron, she made me switch places with her. So now, I'm sat in between Katelyn and Dante.
"So, what does everyone want to do while we're here, there's so many activities," Katelyn said, looking around the table.
"Well," Lucinda started, "Kawaii-Chan and I wanted to take hula lessons, but we need at least a resort's island pass to do that."
"Oh! If only we had all access passes to do everything we wanted! Dante what if we had those amazing passes?" He asked in a really strange voice, making me raise an eyebrow, confused.
"Oh!" Dante said, standing up on his chair and taking tickets that read out in bold letters, All Access Pass To Resort. In small letters below that, it read, This ticket grants access to all resort activities. "All Access?"
"I'm impressed," Zane admitted, "How did you get those?"
It became silent for a moment, Dante and Aaron just stared at each other making me more suspicious of what they did to get their hands on those precious tickets. "All access passes guys!" They ignored the question, yelling other things about how amazing the all access passes were.
Lucinda laughed, "Perfect! There's nothing we can't do."
"Hula dancing, huh?" Garroth asked.
"I was thinking we start off at the beach," Dante suggested.
"Aw, that sounds perfect, I need to work on my tan" Katelyn joined in.
Zane groaned, "Ugh, sun."
I laughed at Zane's comment, "The beach sounds fun, as long as it's not boiling hot outside."
"Ooo!" Aphmau squealed, "I love seashells!"
"I'm down to head to the beach," Aaron said.
"While you guys are doing that, I think I'm going to attend these hula lessons. I think I'd look good in those grass skirts. Want to join Kawaii-Chan?" Lucinda asked.
"Sure!" Kawaii-Chan yells.
"We'll meet up with you guys later," Lucinda shrugged.
"Sounds good! Let's get going!" Dante grinned.
***
We all followed Dante, I was confused because we were going the opposite way of the beach, where we were planning to go. "Hey, where are we going? Isn't the beach just over there? Why are we back here at the dock?" Aphmau asked, speaking my mind.
"Don't worry, we're going to the beach, we just need to stop here first," Dante said, not exactly answering her question.
"What is this place?" Zane asked him right after he stopped talking.
"One of the resort shops," Aaron answered his question.
Aphmau gasped, "A shoppe?"
"The e is silent, nobody pronounces the e," Zane told her.
I grasped his shoulder lightly and whispered into his ear, "You're being too harsh."
Aphmau let out a noise of frustration, "I'll do what I want, Zane! Hmph!" She calmed herself down, "So, what are we here for?"
"Well, did you pack anything?" Aaron asked her.
"What? No! Why are you asking me that? You and Dante said we didn't have any time to-- OOH!" Aphmau caught on, laughing, "Right... egh."
"Exactly," Aaron added.
"Well, then, let's go shopping!"
***
"Well, this is it, great huh?" Dante asked.
I looked around, taking in my surroundings. There wasn't many people but enough to make me self-conscious about what I was doing. I stiffened but stayed close to Zane.
"Definitely," Aaron told Dante.
"I'm just glad you picked a large enough umbrella," Zane admits.
Zane told me a while ago that he absolutely hates the sun. Whenever he goes outside he comes back with painful sunburn and he rather stay inside, looking at the tv than going outside and staring at people have fun.
"I've got your back," Dante smiled.
"Ooo! Looks like you have someone to help you put on suntan lotion for you Zane! Should we break out a bottle for you too?" Aphmau teased, snickering when she was done.
"Excuse me?" I said, raising my eyebrows.
Aphmau turned towards me, "S-Sorry! I forgot you two were dating."
"You are so weird sometimes," Zane said, surprising me. I thought he would get angrier than that.
"I don't think she can help it," Aaron admitted.
"Hey!" Aphmau yelled, getting defensive.
"Aw, calm down Aphmau," Katelyn opened her arms "You know we love you."
"Thanks Katelyn," Aphmau smiled, hugging her.
"Even if you are nuttier than a peanut factory sometimes."
Aphmau, again, let out a noise of frustration.
"Now come on! Who wants to go swimming?" Katelyn hollered.
"That's why we came, isn't it?" Aaron said.
"I'm in!" Dante yelled back.
"I'm in too!" I called out.
••• (not a time skip btw// read Author note)
I looked back at Zane, noticing the scowl that was present on his face. I knew he wasn't going to go swimming, he already told me that he hates the sun. Every time he would go into the sun, it would burn him instantly and he would have blisters for the next few nights.
"I think I'm going to stay with .Zane," I said, smiling at the group.
I watched at Garroth looked over at his baby brother and punched him in the arm, making Zane darkly glare at him. "She's a keeper."
"Of course she is, otherwise I wouldn't be dating her," Zane scoffed, his face becoming red.
I forced myself to stay quiet and not swoon over the fact that Zane somehow made a nice comment about me. Not that he doesn't all the time, but it's abnormal for him to say things like that in front of everyone else.
"Aww, look at those lovebirds," Aphmau smiled brightly.
"Speaking of lovebirds," I began, smirking at her,"Are you going to go swimming with Aaron or what?"
"U-Uh," Aphmau stuttered, struggling to come up with an answer, "I think I'll stay up here with you two for a bit too, you know, keep an eye on the both of you."
Katelyn laughed, but soon dismissed the comment she made. "Suit yourself, ready guys?"
"Yep! Come on, I'll race you there!" Dante started running.
"Hey, no fair!" Katelyn complained.
"You going to be okay up here?" Aaron asks his girlfriend, Aphmau.
"Psh," Aphmau laughed, "I'll be fine. Besides, I've got Zane and (Y/n) here."
"Okay, well, let me know if you need anything."
"Mhm! I will. Now go, have fun!" Aphmau chuckled. As Aaron left, I have Aphmau a suspicious look, as if I was observing her. "What?" She asked, slightly freaking out.
"Is there something you're not telling me Aphmau?" I asked her, my eyes squinting.
"No! W-What are you talking about? W-Why would I be hiding something? Hahaha."
There's one thing that Aphmau needs to figure out: she's really bad at lying.
