STORY:
Taste The Gift With The Tongue of Your Heart

According to legend, a young man while roaming the desert came across a spring of delicious crystal-clear water. The water was so sweet he filled his leather canteen so he could bring some back to a tribal elder who had been his teacher. After a 4-day journey he presented the water to the old man who took a deep drink, smiled warmly & thanked his student lavishly for the sweet water. The young man returned to his village with a happy heart.

Later, the teacher let another student taste the water. He spat it out, saying it was awful. It had become stale because of the old leather container. The student asked his teacher: "Master, the water was foul. Why did you pretend to like it?"

The teacher replied, " You only tasted the water. I tasted the gift. The water was simply the container for an act of living-kindness & nothing could be sweeter."

"Gratitude is a powerful catalyst for happiness. It's the spark that lights a fire of joy in your soul."

"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life.
It turns what we have into enough & more.
It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity.
It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.
Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, & creates a vision for tomorrow."

But most importantly we remember the words of Al Kareem, our Most Generous Creator:
La in shakartum la azee dan nakum
"If you are grateful, I will surely increase you in favour...."
( Sura Ibrahim. 14:7)

One of our greatest challenges is to live & love in spite of pain & disappointment & to find gratitude in the midst of it all. Alot of us sap our own energy & cause pain to ourselves when we place our entire focus on what's wrong instead of the zillion things that is going right.
We can immediately see a huge difference & shift in our selves & around us when we make gratitude part & parcel of our life.

Oh Allah,
I thank You for all Your favours,
Big & small,
I appreciate them all
Shukran ya Rabb,
Alhamdulilah

Three Ways To Express Shukr ( gratitude):

- Shukr of the heart (Qalb), which is achieved by harboring & intending good for all of اللّه Subhana wa Ta'ala 's creation.

- Shukr of the tongue (Lisan), which involves celebrating the praises of اللّه
Subhana wa Ta'ala , such as utterance of Alhamdulillah, & expressing gratefulness to Him with our tongue.

- Shukr of the limbs (Jawarih), which is fulfilled by using our external senses to do good. Every time اللّه Subhana waTa'ala gives us a blessing, we must use it in a way that benefits humanity & that pleases Him.
