Chapter 7

Parth's words echoed in Laila's mind, replaying the cruel statement he had made earlier. She could not believe what she was hearing. The warmth and love she had felt just moments ago vanished, replaced by a cold, and sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach. The feeling of Her's that this marriage could've a redemption and it just started on a rough note, all of that hope disappeared by him uttering two words, "I Lied"

"Parth, what do you mean?" Laila asked, her voice trembling with a mix of confusion and hurt. She felt that her whole life is going out of track, and she was not anticipating any of this even in her darkest nightmares. Parth's expression hardened, and his eyes met hers, devoid of the softness she had seen few days ago, now it only held coldness and specks of hate. "I lied through my teeth, and you believed me"

"What I said earlier that day, that it was all a joke, it was a lie and I can vouch that I meant every action I did, There's no wedding jitters or Frustration but Karma of your actions and I can assure you that was just the starting of it" said Parth and Laila's eyes widened. Laila's heart sank, and her eyes welled up with tears. She struggled to find her voice, her voice barely above a whisper. "How could you? How could you intentionally hurt me like this?" and Parth scoffed which offended Laila more, but he could not care any less.

"You got what you deserved, and you'll keep on getting what you deserve, you intentionally hurt others and Karma is bound to hit you" said Parth coldly. Laila's hands trembled, her heart shattered into a million pieces. The pain of betrayal consumed her, threatening to engulf her completely, "You played with my emotions, with my trust, how could you be so casually cruel?". "How could I? I just did that with no troubles so-" said Parth with no regard for her emotions. He continued, Parth's voice remained cold and detached, "I had to make you realize the consequences of your choices"

"What do you mean?" whispered Laila, "I meant whatever I did" said Parth with no remorse for his actions. Laila's tears flowed freely down her cheeks, her voice quivering with a mix of sadness and anger. "You had no right to manipulate my feelings, to use me as a pawn in your game, I thought we would finally make an effort and build this marriage on trust and understanding" said Laila which made Parth laugh. "You made sandcastles in the air and it's on you," said Parth. Laila turned away, her heart heavy with pain.

She walked away from Parth, leaving behind the shattered remnants of their relationship while he stood there unaffected by everything. "How could someone be so cruel" she whispered but it was loud enough for him to hear, "Oh my innocent wifey, You've not seen how cruel I could be and I can promise that by the end you'll regret every action of yours" said Parth in an evil tone sending chills down Laila's spine, She rushed out of the room.

"Why and how can someone be so heartless" thought Laila and she stood in the hallway to their room. Her thoughts echoing through the empty corridor. She had trusted Parth, believed in the sincerity of their relationship, only to be confronted with his cold and calculated intentions. Marriage is a sacred union, and it was starting to seem bleak to her and the darkness had more in store for her.

Her mind was filled with a whirlwind of emotions, struggling to make sense of the betrayal she had just experienced. The weight of Parth's heartless actions pressed heavily upon her, leaving her feeling lost and vulnerable. Tears welled up in Laila's eyes as she replayed the moments of their marriage, it was mostly the painful moments, but his redemption acted as a medicine, but it was a lie.

It felt as if a cruel veil had been lifted, revealing a side of Parth she had never anticipated. She felt a mix of anger and sorrow coursing through her veins. Anger at the way he had played with her emotions, manipulated her trust, and intentionally caused her pain. Sorrow for the shattered illusions, the loss of the love and hope she had believed in.

Just as Laila was lost in her thoughts, she heard Parth's voice calling her back, "Laila". Her heart skipped a beat and a flicker of hope ignited within her. Maybe, just maybe, he had realized the depth of his cruelty and wanted to apologize. Laila turned around, her eyes meeting Parth's gaze.

But instead of remorse or regret, Parth wore a stern expression on his face. There was no hint of empathy or sorrow in his eyes. Laila's hope deflated, replaced by a sinking feeling of dread. He had his same old cold expression. But the hope in her was still alive, the hope that he will say that this all is just a cruel Practical joke, and he did not mean a word of it.

"You should come inside," Parth said, his voice devoid of any warmth or compassion. The lack of empathy in his voice did not create a loss of hope in Laila's heart, she still hoped that he will apologize and call her in. "Staying in the hallway might attract the attention of Mom and I don't want unnecessary interference in my business" said Parth and A part of her broke again, He was shattering her like glass.

Laila's heart sank further, the disappointment weighing heavily upon her. She had hoped for understanding, for Parth to acknowledge the pain he had caused her. But his words only served as a reminder of his coldness, of his indifference to her emotional turmoil. Suppressing the urge to let her emotions overwhelm her, Laila took a deep breath and gathered her composure, "I don't want your concern for appearances, your behaviour was heartless and cruel, how can you expect me to simply brush it aside?"

Parth's face remained impassive, his gaze fixed on a point beyond Laila "There is no need to make a scene, My actions were intentional and I stand by it, I said those hurtful words with the purpose of hurting you, It was a lesson that I believed you needed to learn", His cold demeanour isn't something that Laila could comprehend. "I don't care, you're not doing right," said Laila.

"I don't care about righteousness either so get in" said Parth in an intimidating tone but Laila held onto some confidence, "I won't" exclaimed Laila but Parth was unaverred. "You just don't listen" said Parth and clutched onto Laila's arms and dragged her inside the room and she was pushed towards the room, she looked at him absolute horror and he was liking it. He held a chunk of her hair and pulled her towards him.

"Learn to listen and obey Laila or you'll just have regrets" said Parth in a horrifying tone which send chills down Laila's spine in fear.
