3rd Person Perspective

-AFTER A WEEK-

"Le beta, Ek aur phone aaya." Jaan's father announced, causing Jaan to let out a frustrated whine. "Mummaa.."

"Kya mumma mumma huh, idhar baat kar." His father retorted, pushing his phone towards Jaan. With a scrunched nose, Jaan reluctantly took the phone.

"Ji, Namaste."

"Ji, Mai apne bade bhai Tanishq ke liye hi... haan-"

"Ji fir theek hai, Kal dopeher hum aajayenge, baat aage badhani hai ki nahi fir kal hi dekh lenge."

"Ji... Ji theek hai. Namaste."

After an endless loop of polite affirmations and talking like he was negotiating a business deal, Jaan ended the call, exasperated. "Papa aapne rishte dekh rakhe hai, to baat bhi karlo na."

"Dekh, beta, tere bhai pe mujhko ratti bhar vishwas nahi. Us nikamme ke liye ladki tu hi pasand kar. Teri itni jaan-pehchaan nahi hai logo se, isliye mai jitni madad kar sakta tha kar raha hu. Aage sab tu dekhna."

"Ji papa."

"Waise, Kal Jo ladkiya dekh ke aaya tha unka kya raha? Tu kal pareshaan lag raha tha isliye nahi poocha," Jaan's mother inquired from the kitchen.

"Mumma, bas pucho mat! I'm so fed up! Ek ka boyfriend tha to usne kaha mana kar do, theek hai. mana kar Diya, waise to bada mai haan karne wala tha jaise - maanogi nahi mumma aap wo ladki chai mein shakkar ki jagah namak daal ke lai thi! She could give us all blood pressure problems! Blood pressure ki problem de deti hum sabko! Chai banana to sabse aasan kaam hota hai use wo bhi nahi aata-" Jaan vented.

"Shaant ho ja, mera baccha, shaant. Baaki ka bata." His mother soothed him.

"Dusri waali to aur mahaan thi, matlab kaise koi ladki apne hi maa baap ko beijjat kar sakti hai? Uske mummy papa use bahar aane ko kehte rahe or usne kamra hi lock kar liya. Bechare itne sharminda hue-"

"Teesri waali naman pe line maar rahi thi, aur wo ghatiya aadmi line de raha tha- mumma, aap maanogi nahi, Naman ki already ek nayi girlfriend hai-"

"KYA? NAYI GIRLFRIEND? Wo ab Tanushree ke saath nahi hai?" Jaan's mother exclaimed in shock. "Mumma, Tanushree ke baad, wo paanch baar girlfriend badal chuka hai..." Jaan muttered.

"Ye ladka. Iski mummy se baat karni padegi-" Jaan's mother began, shaking her head in disbelief but was interrupted by her husband, "Tum kyu ghussa kar rahi ho bhai? The boy is a youngblood, let him enjoy his life."

Jaan sighed, pacing back and forth. In the past week, he had visited 5 different houses-to find one girl who would be a perfect match for his brother. But, unfortunately, luck wasn't on his side. None of them seemed compatible with his brother.

Don't get him wrong, It wasn't that they weren't pretty; they were. But Jaan knew well that prettiness alone doesn't sustain relationships. What they lacked was a sense of familial warmth and overall they weren't someone to take responsibility and marriage isn't a game to play where you can be irresponsible about anything and everything.

To add to his frustration, his brother would text him daily, inquiring if he had found "the one" for him.

"Tanishq Bhai, at this rate, ya to aapki baraat nikalegi ya fir meri arthi." Jaan groaned, collapsing onto the couch.

On The Other Hand

The four elders of the house talked in signs, through eyes as they watched their youngest, get ready to go to office.

A ritual that has been happening in the house the day after Yash and Surbhi's anniversary.

Y/n would wake up daily, clean the house, not purposely tease her family members, get ready for office and go with Yash. Yeah, the car ride was awkward.

Could've added made breakfast in the list but Y/n didn't know the C of cooking.

No she wasn't mad because of the slap. She thought she deserved it for being stubborn and for hurting her brother. She was rather hurt, so she did what she was supposed to. Everyone had a problem with her staying at home, not helping in work, and writing.

So she started being responsible.

Like Yash.

Like everyone wanted her to be.

"Y/n baccha, aaj chutti le lo." Y/n's father suggested to his daughter who was wearing her shoes. "Nahi Papa, kaam reh jaayega." Y/n mumbled, her reply cold yet no ounce of disrespect in it.

Yash cleared his throat, "Papa mai aaj der se office jaaunga, Y/n ko aap chhod aana-"

"Beta mai batana bhool gaya mai or tumhari mummy tumhari Nani ke jaa rahe hai.." Their father uttered, "fir se?" Y/n muttered to herself. "Sab theek to hai na papa?" Yash questioned.

"Teri Nani ki tabiyat kharab hai, Roz tere Nana ka phone aa raha hai milne ke liye bula rahe hai."

"Hum bhi chale kya fir Papa ji?" Surbhi uttered softly, "Nahi Beta aap or Yash, Y/n ke saath Ghar pe raho, yaha kaam bilkul nahi chhod sakte." Their father said, Yash nodded in agreement.

"Bhaiya, Car leke jaa rahi hu." Y/n said, deciding that she'll drive herself since her father wasn't going to office and Yash would go late.

"Nahi, Y/n aaj rehne do fir. Mai Shukla ko bol dunga tumhara kaam wo dekh lega."

"Par bhai-"

"Mana Kiya na Y/n." Yash stated, Y/n took a deep breath and removed her shoes and without looking at anyone she went to her room. Closing the door lightly.

She won't be disrespectful even in anger.

That's what her morals say.

But inside, Y/n was fuming, and at the same time wanting to weep.

Outside the room, the four members were sitting silently. "Kitni shaant rehne lagi hai meri bacchi. Aap sab kyu daant te ho use?" Y/n's father sighed, making his wife, son and daughter-in-law look down.

"Aisa lag raha hai jaise Ghar ki saari khushiyan chali gayi ho." Y/n's father said, clearly upset whilst Yash covered his face in his palms. "Papa mai bas uska bhala chahta hu-"

"Har waqt tumhe uska bhala chahne ki zarurat nahi hai Yash. Kuch faisle use khud bhi lene diya karo. Use pata hai uski khushi kisme hai." Y/n's father stood up going to his room.

**Time skip**

Sitting in front of the screen, Yash called out the lost man he was having a meeting with online, "Mr Tanishq?" Yash said, "Mr Tanishq?"

"Oh Sorry, I zoned out."

"Well, Now that we've talked over the deal. I want to apologise that I wasn't able to attend the party, It was a golden chance to finally meet you face to face. But I'm guessing you'll understand since I'm not in the country at the moment."

"Its okay, Mr Tanishq. Your family attended. I finally met the person behind the name RS CORPORATION, I can see why Mr Raghav (Tanishq's father) is such a successful and respected person in the industry. Your brother is a pleasant person to talk to by the way." Yash uttered making a smile climb upto Tanishq's lips.

"It's just a matter of time then I can meet you face to face too, finally." Tanishq stated.

"I'd be waiting for that. I'll have to leave now. My assistant will send you the details of the contract, if you have any issues and questions regarding that you can ask away." Yash asserted, making Tanishq nod as they ended the meeting.

Yash sighed, caressing his forehead and walked out of his bedroom to see his wife standing infront of Y/n's room.

A smile smile came upto his lips hearing her.

"Y/n, baccha, lunch karlo." Surbhi said, knocking on the door of Y/n's room.

She was always so gentle with his sister, almost as if she had accepted Y/n as her daughter the moment Yash said that Y/n will forever be his first child.

But oh, some things sting. And Yash was that sting point for Surbhi. One scratch on him and his wife would berserk.

He wasn't really happy with Surbhi slapping his sister-the same sister he had kept on his palms, protected with all his wits and never hurt, intentionally atleast. But he can't just beat up his wife because she slapped his sister? Because she wasn't just his sister now. No matter the relation. Surbhi was like her mom.

Slapping wasn't necessary. But it wasn't wrong knowing it came as a reflex seeing Yash in pain.

Yash snapped out of his thoughts and continued to stare, witnessing his wife and his sister, "Y/n," Surbhi knocked again, and next she entered the room to see Y/n sleeping.

Surbhi sat beside her, caressing her cheeks. "Mera baccha, zyada daant diya maine bhi ghusse mein-"

"Mhmmm..." Y/n groaned changing her position. Suddenly she squinted her eyes, waking up from her sleep. "Kya time hua hai..." She mumbled, unaware that her bhabhi was beside her.

"2:15" Surbhi replied, still caressing her hair. Y/n sat up, ,"Oh bhabhi aap hain..." She sighed. "Hmm,"

"Y/n, tum mujhse or tumhare bhai se ghussa ho?" Surbhi asked, Y/n's eyes widened, yet she kept her calm. "Nahi! Kisne kaha?"

"Y/n, dekho... Maine uss din aap par haath uthaya, I'm really sorry. Mujhe maaf kar do. Mai sach mein aapko maarna nahi chahti thi, aap to mere bacche jaisi ho." Surbhi uttered, her eyes watering as she spoke.

Y/n swiftly encircled her arms around Surbhi's waist, "bhabhi ro nahi, mai aapse ghussa nahi hu. Bhai se bhi nahi. Aise sorry mat kaho."

"Ghussa nahi ho to kyu hum sab se baat nahi karti? Kyu Ghar ke kaam mein haath batati ho? Kyu office jaati ho...?" Surbhi sobbed, "wo to mai- humesha choti bacche jaise nahi reh sakti na... Aap log bhi pareshan ho jaate ho-" Y/n reasoned but Surbhi interrupted. "Koi pareshaan nahi hota, mai din mein das baar Ghar ka kaam kar lungi bas aap aisa sochna band karo! Maine kabhi kuch kaha aapko? Mummy Ji to bas mazaak karti hai-"

Suddenly both of them were engulfed in someone's arm, "aap dono pehle to rona band karo. Y/n to choti choti baaton par roti hai par Surbhi aap to apni vidai mein bhi nhi roi thi, Y/n ne kaise rula dia aapko"

"Yash mazak nai " Surbhi sniffed, "Y/n, I'm so-" Yash was interrupted, "nahi bhaiya sorry mat bolo- please aapki koi galti nhi thi. Wo to bas Mai us din zyada ziddi th-" Y/n stated.

"Galti thi Y/n. Humara farz hai tumhari zid uthana." Yash mumbled, caressing Y/n head.

The siblings were too busy in their talks to notice Surbhi who escaped out of the embrace "bhai behen ka bharat milaap ho gaya ho to lunch karle?" Surbhi said, to which Y/n ran out of the room.

Yash bought his face closer to Surbhi's, "Yash, What are you doing-?" She asked, dumbfounded.

"Lunch." At Yash's unhinged reply Surbhi blushed slapping him on his chest, "Aapko humesha galat time par hi kyu romance karna hota hai-" Surbhi sighed as Yash pecked her lips not letting her talk and went out of the room after giving her his cute cat-like shy smile.

Surbhi giggled, stifling her smile before tracing her way to the living room.

-NEXT DAY-

"Finally, aisi feel aa rahi hai jaise ab to rishta ho hi jaega." Jaan muttered, sighing in relief as he entered the maybe his brother's future wife's house.

"Meri Jaan, ab to mai bhi itna thak gaya hu bhaiya ke liye ladkiya dhund dhund ke ki agar abhi dulhan mile to abhi party de du!" Naman stated, throwing an arm around Jaan's shoulder recieving a glare from the latter. "Pitega tu kisi din."

"Kisi din kya, dhokebaaz aadmi kal hi tune mujhe meri mummy se pitwa diya, Teri mummy ne mujhe daant maari wo alag." Naman whispered, not wanting the girl's parents to hear him. "Haan thik hai, chup kar ab. Jo kaam karne aaye hai wo karle."

"Beta, Baitho aaram se. Aap to mithai khaa hi nahi rahe ho- Arey, Pushpa, Chai to le aao!" The male said, "Nahi Uncle, Don't worry. Mai chai nahi peeta-" Naman elbowed Jaan, "Kya bhai, Mai to peeta hu na... Kyu meri free ki chai band karwa raha hai."

"Humari bitiya sarvagun sampanna hai. Sarkari Teacher hai, 12vi ke boards mein 96% aaye the uske. Khaana toh bas pucho mat. Har kaam mein laajavab. Ye samose jo aap kha rahe hai ye usi ne banaye hai." The male said, making Naman look at Jaan and the other way round.

Both of them stifled their laughter seeing the packet that said 'Hira Sweets'.

"Beta, Humari bitiya jis ghar mein jaayegi uss Ghar ko narak- mera matlab swarg mein badal degi." The male said, smiling proudly.

"Arey Pushpa, zara Geeta ko bhejo. Ek baar ye bacche bhi mil le," He again said, calling his wife.

Jaan and Naman looked at each other, nodding as a way of telling each other 'Ab to shaadi pakki'.

"Suniye to..." Pushpa said, calling her husband to the corner.

"KYA?" The old man yelled, but fixed his posture realising the presence of two young men sitting on the couch of his living room. "Kya matlab bhaag gai??" The male exasperatedly held his head. His face looked as if he was traumatized.

Jaan and Naman looked at each other awkwardly, they couldn't hear anything since the old couple was standing away and talking in whispers.

"Beta-" The male, in embarassment looked down unable to complete his clause. While his wife, who was sobbing spoke up, "Hume nahi pata tha ki wo shaadi nahi karna chahti. Wo bhaag gai-" the lady said.

Jaan and Naman looked at each other again.

Eyes widened and mouth agape.

"Lo ho gayi Tanishq Bhai ki Shaadi!" Naman whispered.

Meanwhile Jaan looked down, tired as he thought "Aakhri rishta tha ye, or ye bhi gaya..."

-

"Yaha dhunda tujhe, waha dhunda tujhe,
Or kya ab chaand pe dhundu?
Mil ja ab jaldi se, warna mai paani mein doobke,
Samandar mein machli se tera address puchu!"
(Haa Maine saste nashe kiye hai)
